I just bought Dragon's Crown...for PS3 AND Vita

Not sure why. I'm on vacation, wife and I are visiting a friend in the US, and I found it preowned so I traded a PS3 game and put the credit towards the PS3 version, then a week later did the same for the Vita version.

This is a blind buy, mind you. I was just like "Meh, why not both?"

I don't think I've ever done this before. I hope the game is good.

Is there any benefit to having both versions? Also, is there cross-platform play? If my friend is playing on his PS3 can I join via my Vita?

I believe crossplay was patched in, so yeas, you can have two people play together, 1 on PS3 and one on Vita. And I did the same thing at launch just to support the game. I love Kamitanis art.

Yes, it was patched after release to allow cross play. It is also cross save. You move saves in the cloud between your PS3 and Vita.

It's a great game, enjoy.

I believe that the saves are transferable but not sure about the cross play. Either case the game is fantastic and looks absolutely awesome on the vita. You should enjoy it.

good buy still one of my favourite games on vita

have not finished

but i love the golden axe feel !

and it looks brilliant!

Did the same day of release along with Tales of Xillia. Beat that.

But seriously, great game. Vita version for on the go looting and PS3 for sitting down with the bros for some co-op.

I played it on Vita last week, it was an unexpectedly awesome adventure. But I feel this game was designed to be played on Vita.
The rune system is a bit hard to handle with the DualShock 3.

I double dipped too thanks to EU PS+ giving me the Vita game.

Fun fact: I had previously bought the PS3 version during a US PSN sale and the cross-saving actually works between my US and EU games (played from my EU account).

Vita version is great, would always play a few dungeons on the way to work, and whenever I was stuck for long periods of time at the court house.

Also, Amazon is best.

Don't be ashamed about buying both versions.

I love Cross-Save games (and cross-buy when it applies)

I did playthroughts of MGS2-3 HD, Guacamelee and FFX HD while transferring my games from PS3 to Vita. I even played Peace Walker with Transfarring (which was quite something to do from PS3 to Vita).

I really wish more games like that. Sony is in the lead with its PS3/4 - Vita combo and Nintendo could do something nice with WiiU/3DS so I hope they will put more efforts into this!

Enjoy the game too!

I bought both versions on release and don't regret it one bit. It's an awesome game. Vanillaware is one of my favorite devs and I'm happy to give them my money.

The game still gets play at my house. My son started it up again with a new character.

Congrats on hitting Level 100! I was in until around Level 93 and then things just slowed to a crazy crawl. I should look and see what that Fighter is doing.

Great feedback here guys, thanks a bunch! Sounds like an awesome time...and cross-play is an amazing feature to be patched in!!

Amazing games
Make sure you try out all characters. I almost put this games down when i play as Fighter, thinking it was boring, Then i try Elf, and my God this game become amazing in my eyes

So am I missing something? When/how can I send my friend an online invite to my game?

You have to do all of the A-routes (i.e. the first nine levels or so) in order to unlock online play. The good news is that (assuming you've patched up) this can be skipped for subsequent characters. Think of it as a three hour tutorial before you get into the real meat of the game.
