Saving my place here for the day I finally play OT2. I really enjoyed the first one despite its weaknesses, and I hear 2 is an improvement across the board.

Yeah, the combat is even better than the Octopath games with more jobs, abilities and freedom. The story is also a more traditional approach rather than the 8 separate stories in Octopath. So yeah, highly recommended.

This is the best JRPG we've had in years. Everything about it is so polished and well presented. It's a game that respects your time and abilities while still giving you a good amount of play hours. The finale is really memorable. The stories all build up to a larger story which is really nice.

Mild early game spoilers.....rather mild early gameplay spoilers.
Rather the Scholar job in general on that starting island....pretty much any character you choose on that island, add Scholar and your team is already broken.....bring in the rest of the Island and Ochette and its game over.

I actually went with Ochette as starter then gathered Throne, Temenos and Osvald.......made the game piss easy and I was already going to high level zone well well too early.
Was this game ever remastered???
I played it but dont remember it having a particularly strong OST.....then again probably the speaker was just shit and id need to listen to the OST properly elsewhere.

Bravely Default (the first) is being remastered for Switch 2.
By the way, I need to STRONLY recommend this compilation music video of all the chill songs of Octopath 2. I listen to it regularly.

I actually debated between Odvald and Throne the most. I picked throne because she's hot but I'm going for him next after Temenos. I'll leave reading the spoilers till then.

While I have never played either Octopaths (albeit known of their existence since day 1) for them not somehow being interesting enougj, I have listened to the OP1 soundtrack.
I never paid too much attention to it, but this thread made me listen again to For Redemption + Decisive Battle 2.
The transition to the actual battle song, god DAMN, the fucking drums, those fucking drums
This was enough for me to put both OP1 and OP2 on my wishlist once the price comes down.

SLIGHT UPDATE:
After taking aa hiatus from this game and playing different stuff I'm back in and have picked up all characters except Ochette. I've played for about 12 hours now. A few thoughts here:
- Even though I've only done the 1st chapters of the characters its quite clear that they focused a lot more on fleshing out the characters and adding a lot more dialogue, which is great for the most part!
- Literally everything in this game is a direct upgrade from OP1: The graphics, the music, the world assets, the colour pallet, the animations, the QoL features, the ability balance (made the game too easy imo), the choice on how to progress the characters' stories, the map design etc etc. This game is one of the handful of games ever made I can say that is directly superior to is predecessor in every single metric.
- Throne is distractingly hot.

Ochette surprised me - she was the character I was least interested in before getting to her, and she ended up being one of my favorite characters from a gameplay standpoint. Super fun class.

Finished Baten Kaitos recently and now I'm trying to juggle BK Origins and The Hundred Line while maintaining a full time job. Probably just gonna spend the year playing JRPGs. I am skeptical about the praise for the Octopath games but 2 looks a lot better than the first.

Throne, castti, Osvald, Agnea. Throne is main and osvald is 2nd for elemental attacks, though apothecary job is good enough as well for that.
Currently plan to complete chapter 2s in western content, then collect Ochette, then move to eastern for chapter 2s and side stories there. Will start chapter 3s after that and make my way to west again..
