I mean, Vancouver rioted over losing the finals over less. Brazil is the home of soccer, theres been a lot of anger about wasted money and people losing their homes to build stadiums for the WC. It's clear that tensions have been not at their best since the start of the WC due to this. It's not far fetched to assume that a loss this bad might result in a riot.

It's not that. It is because Brazil has been in a lot of problems this past time. Riots were strong before the World Cup, even with a movement to end the Cup.

So, the World Cup was the distraction of all those problems of the country: education, economics, public secutiry, etc. Most likely they will return to all of that now that Brazil didn't won the WC.
