The Final Bosman Show

Had to look up the metacritic for blood bowl, it's well received on PC. (not so much on console).

I love the idea of a made up sports game like Blitzball and such, i think there's potential to make a really fun game seeing as how games dont have to play by the laws of physics.

They should've played Bad Boys dammit.

I blame Huber! Although that was pretty hilarious hahaha. There was even someone who stood up for a second to see what the fuss was all about. Their frustration was palpable haha.

I got 8/15, ugh. Got screwed on the 1st question, guessed 3.

Here are the correct answers.

1. "How many games will Nintendo show with the word 'Mario' in it?" - 1 (1 in the 'conference' but 3 overall. They went with the conference rule.)
2. "Will Resident Evil 7 be announced?" - No
3. "Will the word 'Shenmue' be said at any press conference?" - No
4. "How many sequels will be announced at the Sony press conference?" - 3
5. "How many minutes of Halo 5 will be shown?" - 0
6. "Across all press conferences, how many times will the words 'experience' be said?" - Over 30, didn't count all
7. "Will Valve announce a game at E3?" - No
8. "Will Uncharted show up as a playable demo (on stage)?" - No
9. "Will a double jump be shown during a press conference (including Nintendo direct)?" - Yes
10. "Will GTA5 for generation 8 consoles be announced?" - Yes

13. "Will a new Dino Crisis be announced as an exclusive title?" - No
14. "Will Majora's Mask appear?" - No
15. "Is 'Project Beast' an actual PS4 exclusive?" - Yes
16. "Will Link speak in Nintendo's physical event?" - Yes

As a person who sees tabletop Blood Bowl games all the time and knows that there is a thriving computer scene for the game this episode was pretty funny. The thing you have to get about the game is that it is very much a joke about the nature of the Warhammer universe. Instead of sacrificing a village to bring forth a deamon made of skulls and entire armies locked in never ending battle you get rugby! Orcs were even directly based on rugby fans. Also as a tabletop adaptation there is alot of pre and post game management in order to simulate the sort of mindgames that goes on. Also dice rolling lots of dice rolling. This is not meant to simulate Madden or even Blitz Bowl. It is meant to be more of a strategy game where you move your pieces around a board and use your ruler to measure.

Probably the biggest problem as hinted at by the video is the near complete lack of tutorial or explanation for new players and an obtuse UI.

This was a really boring video. Stick to the single player games, Bosman. I know you want to chum it up with your coworkers but this was the worst possible game to choose to do that.

I want an MMO Blood Bowl, where you play a player in the field.

The "meta" of blood bowl would be just perfect for all players in the field being played by different internet people.

Every one just running after the ball trying to be the one to score and shouting curses and trying to kill each other while doing that would be just awesome! And in the spirit of the sport :)

Wasn't super big on the episode. The game itself wasn't bad enough to be funny and it wasn't cool enough to be interesting. The hybrid of subject matters being made of two things I don't care for didn't help either. The iffy sound channels was the final straw for me. Watched maybe 4 minutes of gameplay before I turned it off. Bleh.
Funny that Bosman covers Blood Bowl the same day that it's apparently announced for tablets.
Time to turn this into a Viral Marketing conspiracy.

I honestly didn't realise that Blood Bowl was so unknown. I picked it up on 360 and then PC when all the updated versions came out and I love it so much.

There is a real-time mode which is a bit easier to understand. It's a very, very complex and deep game, but once you're into it, the hooks are grabbed in.

Didn't know it was announced for tablets... That will be my first purchase if I ever get one.

I'm so curious about how that game actually plays now haha.

You need time with it (more than 15 minutes) but after that, it's so much fun. Especially in multiplayer.

Blood Bowl's so much fun, even the PSP version is great with a friend even if lacking in content.

Yeah, when they announced the upgraded versions for PC, I was hoping for a Vita one. May have to get a tablet at some point.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of this newest episode. The First Fifteens have never been my favorite, but Pimp My Ride and the one where the main character could throw up all over the place were a lot better than this one.

Mostly I blame the game selection. I've never played it, but it doesn't seem like the type of game anyone would have any fun with in just 15 minutes.

Its been a (n amazing) board-game for almost twenty years now, and the PC game is a very good adaptation of its nearly newest, and most balanced, time-tested rules.

I can't recommend it enough, even if it has a tough learning curve.

Does anybody know the name of the episode where he starts dancing because they made it to a certain number of episodes?

Edit: I found it, episode 10

I really liked the table top Blood Bowl game but I couldn't get into the PC version. I felt that the rolls were almost always in favour of the AI and not me.

I played the tabletop version exactly once, when it first came out.

Made a team of Dwarves called The 40 Miners, got custom miniatures, set up their uniform scheme, the works, and settled in to play what my buddy promised me was a great game.

10 minutes after the first snap, more than half of my team has been chainsawed to death or beheaded. It was a dark scene, straight out of that first 15 minutes video there. I just got so thoroughly murderized that I never even thought about playing it again.

I like Huber in other things, but I think he needs to be dropped for First Fifteen. Not enjoying his yelling.

They were pretty good together in other segments. Don't know why it's not translating as well here. I guess they can just tweak things up (I think it's just the chemistry between him and Kyle in this specific segment). It worked well in others, but needs to be changed a little. Huber is actually a really interesting guy, and I like him in Editorials and podcast. He's pretty passionate about gaming, and I like that.

So maybe just a little change in his presentation during these segments. It's kind of hard to pull off comedy when you are having to vibe off someone else (I think Mandatory Update has had problems with that, but they've gotten better).

New First Fifteen BAD BOYS

PHYSICS!!!!!!!!!!!

lol
Pre-RE4 6th gen 3rd person shooters are so awkward looking.
The enemies stand there soaking up bullets, bodies disappear after dying, and the player is always in "hold the left trigger" mode.
It's kind of fascinating to look back at a game like this with modern eyes.

the player is always in "hold the left trigger" mode.

I actually kind of miss this. I mean, I get why modern 3PS games have the "hold the trigger" thing, but I don't like holding down triggers in general for personal reasons and I feel like they can still be really well designed like this.

Bosman's looks to Huber in the outtakes had me in tears it was so funny. Also I was impressed with the house of cards and the light through the window of BAD BOYS.

Holy shit that must be the worst looking Xbox game I've ever seen. It's literally PS2 launch title levels and the frame-rate is still atrocious. And that AI lol!

Last week's episode was really boring but this was fun.

"Take that Kojima!"

And dat Bloodborne T-shirt!

It's not a last gen game. It's an Xbox game.

I wonder if their new place will also have elaborate library door locking mechanisms. Bosman is approaching Jill Valentine levels of unlocking mastery with every new episode.

I think we'd be better off with a general GT original shows thread, like we have for Giant Bomb.

It's stupid to have a 2 pages thread for GTTime, then one of Mandatory Update, then one for Final Bosman (which though also get all sorts of stuff posted).

Yeah I agree, this thread has some traffic but the others are pretty much dead, might as well post everything in one thread.

It might be good for people like me who only watches The Final Bosman and doesn't really know much about GT's other offerings.

I was thinking the same, hell, right now I'm wondering if I should bother with GT time.
Bosman's show is the only thing I watch, I never find myself caring about what people in these podcasts have to say to be honest.
I like discussing things on forums because I'm interacting with other people and exchanging opinions but just sitting here and watching other people talk really isn't my thing.

^^^ GTTime is actually my favorite of their original shows.
I've come to like pretty much all of them, and it's funny now watching GT old reviews, and seeing names that didn't tell my anything before, and actually being able to associate them with a face and a point of view on games.

Yeah I agree, this thread has some traffic but the others are pretty much dead, might as well post everything in one thread.

We did it with the RedLetterMedia thread, and it went well enough, with a bunch of regulars posting there.

Before that we would just use random Half in the Bag or Plinkett Reviews threads.

Nah, the GT Time one is frequently updated every week as well, but barely any traffic.

I agree about the combined thread. Get an OT going after the move/re-launch?

Sounds like a good idea to wait for the transfer.

Also, they recently started to do daily "Editorial Reports" which have potential.

Eh, I vote against a combined thread. Bosman gets enough views to sustain a thread on his own.

And also I don't watch the other stuff lol.

Granted this thread basically acts like a GT mega thread already so it probably wouldn't be a big deal.

You can keep ignoring the other stuff.
I mean, the fact that The Final Bosman's own thread is 99 pages (soon to be 100 +) I think shows it deserves its own thread, no?
That's also because all the other stuff gets posted here, but i think a more general thread would get people to at least give the other shows (many of which have Bosman in it) a shot.

the point of this thread is not to drive traffic to other GT content, it's to talk about the Final Bosman show

don't clutter up this thread just because you think other shows deserve "a shot"

If there is enough interest to warrant a GT megathread, I think it might be appropriate. The thing is, the Final Bosman is the thread with the majority of views here on GAF, so making a Giantbomb style thread for GT might be questionable.
