DS or Wii U version?

3DS

Even worse it's one week after hyrule warriors. I cant beat it that fast! I'll need to take off work!

Just noticed this too. Nintendo has the weirdest release dates, I swear. They probably don't care too much because their games are really designed to sell over time, but still. Smash awareness is going to be buried by Destiny at release. I'll probably be playing it myself.

EDIT : Actually Hyrule Warriors is at the end of September, not before Smash. Two big name games in the same month is still pretty damn intense though.

Despite Wolf O'Donnell's seeming character rehabilitation from outright villain in his first appearance in Star Fox 64, to his anti-hero contributions in later titles, he doesn't seem to be ranking high with NWR's staff. A possible reason could be that after Star Fox and Falco, do we REALLY need another character built around the same moveset? To be sure, Wolf may have his unique points, but there's always the danger that he's suffering from clone-fatigue.

lolwut NWR?

I don't think Destiny and the 3DS version of Smash Bros. really have overlapping audiences, I wouldn't worry about it.

They both have pretty huge audiences and I know a number of my friends will get both. But def not a thing to worry about when one is a handheld game

What's everyone release day ritual going to be? I usually like to unlock a few things, head online to test it out, and then go unlock everything before I get online again. Though, now that I have the GAF community, I may get online a bit more before getting all the characters and stages.

I only have rituals for 3 games: Console Zelda, Smash bros, Handheld Zelda. In that order.

I take the day (or days) off work, get a haircut, wear comfy clothes, clean the whole house, go grocery shopping for non-greasy finger foods and Juices. I sit down in peace and quiet and play until the tears stop and I've passed out from sleep deprivation.

For smash bros, specifically, I usually play multiplayer AS LINK on a zelda stage. For this one, i'll probably play online a bit, too. Next step would be to play classic/adventure modes and see who is unlocked first/next. Unfortunately, this will likely be spoiled due to the japanese release being a full month early. (I played the brawl japanese one thanks to a friend and we discovered all of this stuff on our own).

UNLOCK. UNLOCK, UNLOCK, UNLOCK, UNLOCK!

I'm not sure yet but depend on my mood to see what I want to do when I get the game.

Haha, that sounds so much like me. I also make sure my room is super clean, that I have pajamas ready to go, buy a bunch of non-gameplay hampering food, and just camp out in my room for two days.

Yeah, for some reason it being a handheld makes me not want to get online as quickly. I'm really excited to just play locally for a bit and then try the new classic/adventure modes.

Eh, the 3DS version will sell gangbusters no matter what.

Lets hope the Wii U version gets a near Christmas release.
Well, according the that interview Gamexplain did with some Nintendo rep, we have a good chance of seeing it before Black Friday.

Word! I'll need to add your 3DS friend code. Anyone have a google doc for that? I need to get off my butt and start adding you guys.

I play the game with my 5 year old, then unlock stuff and then head online.

That's up to Heath if he wants to go ahead and make one for the OT. If so, I'm happy to create it. Might not be a bad idea to start early so we have less people rushing at launch.

Similar to georly, make sure everything is in check. Work's worked out, food at the house is worked out, the house isn't filthy, ect. Basically make it to where there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to leave my apartment for like at least the next 48 hours.

Then it's just me and friends whenever they stop by, all fucking day, all fuckin night. Unlocking and exploring at EVERYTHING that I can without killing myself. That's always what I do before I even touch online.

A little ritual I've had ever since Melee introduced trophies, is that I unlock a shit ton of trophies throughout my marathon sessions, and stock up on coins. When I'm finally ready to start winding down, I play whatever trophy game is in that version (I guess it's tophy rush this time), until my coins are dry, and then get comfy and read and look at all of the trophies I've collected as I slowly pass out from exhaustion. This game MUST have off screen play just for that reason. The idea of curling up in my bed and going through all of them just sounds like abnormal comfy levels. It's too perfect.

When Brawl released, I stayed up for over 60 hours straight. I was living with my sister at the time an every now and then she'd just poke her head into my room and just go, "Are you fuckin ok?!"

I would yell "BRAWL!!" and she'd shut the door haha.

I will unlocking every single worthy thing to unlock.
Characters
and possibly stages. Then practice with every single character, once I find my choice of characters I will finally head online.

I think I might adopt some of your rituals. lol. I'll probably just play a lot of matches with my brother and friend for a few hours and then when they finally leave/go to bed (yea right like that will happen) ill explore more of the game myself.

The first Smash ritual is always to unlock the fuck out of the main roster and dabble in the bonus modes to set those urley records. I doubt that's changing.

Not to mention Bayonetta 2 is in October as well. An expensive few weeks for people who want all 3 day 1.

I don't know how im gonna pull this off because Destiny and Borderlands TPS also come out around that time and i'm interested in ALL of them. My priorities are Smash and Borderlands tho.

My release day ritual will begin with me heading directly to GameStop after school. When I get home, I'll play a FFA with Mario to get the feel of the game. The I'll become the master of unlocking. Hopefully everyone will be unlocked by the day's end. To wind down, probably some For Fun matches, then (try to) sleep.

With everyone pretty adamant on unlocking stuff right away, I really hope the Wii U version lets you link your 3DS and unlock all the characters right away. Would be sort of lame to just unlock the same characters again.

God I forgot! Why Nintendo! No Wii U games nearly all year and then your two largest ones you release within less than a month of each other. AND sandwich Smash 3DS in between!

I'm going to play a ton of FFA for a few hours when I get it so that I can try the characters and stages, as well as getting adjusted to the game. From there I'll play some Smash Run before going online. For this game I just want to unlock characters naturally like I did in Melee and 64 by not knowing the unlockables or their methods to getting them. (Though knowing the Gematsu leak removes some of the fun)

YEESSSSSS! Borderlands!

I'm looking forward to pick up Ultra Street Fighter 4, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U and Borderlands 1.5

Only if I could afford all! Right now Smash and Borderlands are the priority.

I don't mind to unlock all of them all over again! :)

Part of me wants to unlock everything twice. Part of me, however, thinks that linking 3DS/Wii U will unlock everything AND give you extra stuff, so I don't want to miss out on the extra stuff.

EDIT: NVM. I'm checking the Google Doc
I'll add you to that when I get the chance.

I'm sure they'll add some sort of extra for linking the two versions, even if it's minor. It's such a Nintendo thing to do.

GGs Twilt. Hey I got a question... Did you get any button lag there? I mean the parts where it wasn't spotty. I've had people complain about button lag to me but I never noticed it and I have been wondering if that has something to do with who's hosting

Good games Beats and Anura! I'm so sorry for landing that fully charged Eruption on you Beats =P Probably the first and only time I'll ever land it.

Your Marth is really good, Anura. Fun matches, especially the Fire Emblem ones.

Hmm, didn't really notice it myself. There was a time where a Dsmash wouldn't come out even though I pressed C-stick down, but that's it.

Yup lol great Ike

Seriously? I was getting some bad button lag there. Kinda confirms my theory though. Not trying to blame lag or anything but I've just have had several different people tell me it's lagging when I don't feel any.

At minimum it'll be 3ds content unlock (trophies, equipment, characters, etc) + a trophy.

I wonder what other benefits there could be that wouldn't screw anyone over but would be worth hardcore fans' time and money to do (like the pikmin trophy for melee).
