Wait, are you talking about the physics or the graphics?

Wait until you see the graphics when it will run on the actutal console real time, not some dev rig 8x oversampled. I thought PS4 have no AF, but those videos sure does look like they're running with some filtering.

You're making it too obvious bro. Gotta be more subtle.

GTAV, GT5, PGR 3 & 4, Grid 1 & 2, Dirt 2 & 3, pretty much all the recent Need For Speed games.

I mean the graphics aren't that far above the games I mentioned.
Higher LOD backgrounds, high res textures & 1080p withstanding.

----------

People posted Dirt 3 screens shots at max settings awhile ago & it honestly looked better than this.
Drive Club looks like a game that can be done on 360 & PS3 with lower IQ all around, but 100% of the game assets all intact.

I still expecting these massive draw mega distances with tens of thousands of flamingos that the developer keep saying are a one in a generation thing. Haven't seen them.

There were a few good shots of large scale mountains covered with trees, kinda like in the Dirt, GT & PGR, & NFS games only with higher level of detail trees.
That's the closest I been to being impressed by this game.

----------

This is pretty much the only footage that really impressed.
People going ga-ga for wet roads, I don't get.

I cant.

The only thing that I'll nitpick about is that when the red tail lights of the car in front light up, you don't see them reflected in road until you get much closer to the car, and when they do get reflected they aren't the elongated light reflections that we normally see in real life.

Other than that, it's the best looking wet/damp road pavement to ever grace a videogame.

I think the thread has officially turned to shit. RIP, DRIVECLUB-The-Drenched-Forests-of-Canada

Driveclub thread giveth and Driveclub thread taketh away. After that awesome webm commercial this thread had to get filled with shit posting to balance itself out.

RIP cropped Canada.gif

This game is the most magnificent gif creating engine. These DriveClub gifs are immortalized in that hallowed GIF heaven along with such notable classics as "Killzone 2 trooper gets shot a bunch of times", "GT5 Spa Francorchamps cockpit in the wet" and "Wolfenstein sliding duel-wielding nazi dismemberment ahoy"

Really glad they delayed this game!

I'm still skeptical about the graphics though; been seeing amazing low-res "Gifs" or videos of this game for a year now and it looked nowhere near as impressive at PAX last August.

Cautiously hopeful it will blow me away graphically, but more importantly the attention to detail sounds awesome gameplay wise.

Of course it looked no where near as good LAST AUGUST. That's partly why the game was delayed an entire year. Compare to E3 2014.

Your skeptical because a year old build didn't look nearly as impressive as it does now?

That PAX demo was awful. Hopefully they've improved the handling significantly since then to match the graphics improvements

Now that is impressive.

How would Infamous, Knack or Killzone have turned out (technically) if they were given
nearly a year of extra time.
Tbf, neither Killzone nor Infamous has problems with how they looked at all. In fact, they both pretty much took the "best looking console game right now" crowns upon their release. I haven't played Infamous, but KZ's problems wouldn't, I think, have been rectified by another year of development.

BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Man, you aren't serious...Wait..Are you? No way... Really?

Like...really serious?

I'm not convinced the tail lights are lit, hence no reflection.

Why do you guys keep asking this question? The answer is simple: they're being disingenuous. They don't believe this they're Here to troll.

Disingenuous my ass.
There is some revisions history going on here as if DriveClube is the first game to have epic long draw distances in a racing game.

The 1080p resolution makes this game have a automatic superior IQ over the 360 & PS3 games, but outside that, what is so revolutionary about it?

The number of cars on screen, the car physics, the car deformation, the framerate, etc...
I'm with Jeff Gerstmann, when he said that this doesn't look anything too special.

Did anything come out of JLeack's "drive assist" assertions?

I know Rushy denied them, but he proceeded to double down and say that someone at Evolution had been very specific about it and that he was going to get back to us on what he meant.

Well?

The only game I'd say DC is close to aesthetically of the ones mentioned is PGR4, for the muted colours and the weather (not counting gameplay at all). But not in terms of IQ, just overall aesthetic. For their time, both DC and PGR4 are both far ahead of the pack and likely will be for the next 12 months at least.

As good as this looks, I still am holding back a bit of judgement until I can see higher res footage. It's easy to make things look better than they are by scaling down the video size. It hides the flaws that way.

You can see them lighting up when the car brakes, about midway through the gif, and again towards the end before the turn, but with the reflection not showing up until you get near the bumper of the car.

Something about the narrow road and the speed gets me PUMPED for this.

Read the post. My point was that it looked far worse last August than it did in any preview video / gif that came out before.. LAST AUGUST.

It's made me skeptical of all footage of the game.

I'm also hopeful it will be mindblowing graphically.. But based on my experience with the game I'm cautious; should look great either way.. question is whether it will blow my mind or not.

GIFs last May did.. playing it last August didn't.

We have plenty of off-screen footage from E3. It looks like this.

I've seen several E3 impressions from this year saying that the handling last year compared to now is so improved that it felt like two different games.

Definitely sold on the graphics, but I need some impressions on the gameplay. I'm pretty picky about my racing game physics and mechanics

I'd guess that the overall scene brightness is simply killing tail lights reflections, and that you need the (much more powerful) brake lights to light up to make them noticeable.

My ~20 years driving experience makes me confident enough to say that you don't always get to see elongated light reflections when it's raining.

Look, count me in the section of people who brow furrowed at the thought this would only be 30fps....but after seeing this vids, I completely understand.

This is going to be beautiful showcase to test in front of my non gaming parents to see how they react.

It'll be interesting to see if the PS+ approach will pay off for Driveclub.
Many people will get the PS+ version, I wonder how many people will go ahead an buy the full game afterwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if the weather is paid DLC for the PS+ version. That would be quite a hook.

EDIT: Nevermind. They have confirmed that it's a free update for all players.

I don't think they'll play this game.

From the EU blog:
The clips are all taken from an early demo of the game’s realistic – and fully customisable – weather system, which will be available for DRIVECLUB as a free update for all players shortly after launch.
