Not really how it works. France lost to Germany, who is in the final. Had they been in Argentina's bracket who knows what would have happened. So, to sum it up...easy path.

Save for the semi final, I feel the only reason Argentina got this far was because of him. It blows my mind that he is always marked by two or three people and the rest of his squad aren't doing shit to relief that pressure.

The fact that ARG's Achilles going into this tournament has molded into a strong point is evidence enough.
Additionally, Mascherano is EASILY one of the most underrated players of the tournament. Literally. Go look up his stats. His challenge conversion is insane.

A tactical, defensive match is not equivalent to parking the bus. Neither team shined on the attack, but both still managed to be intimidating. Enough so, at least, that it was fun watching the respective defenses be tested. Argentina, in particular, created some great chances. I kept waiting for a Netherlands vs. Mexico-esque mess up, but both teams were too good for that.
This was a solid game.
What world class soccer player carries his team single-handedly anymore? The best talent in the world has been concentrated in about 10 or so teams across 5 leagues. How is that a mark against him that he gets to play with Iniesta, Xavi, and Busquets?

i don't think anybody here cares about 3rd place. but loosing to last match's Brazil would be somewhat humiliating.
Really, I rooted for the Netherlands, but I don't feel sad or frustrated, or 'salty' if you're linguistically limited. The Dutch have once again had a great run for the gold, and it was fun to watch. Let's just hope the saturday's match is a good one.

This World Cup shows that Messi is everything but the GOAT. When you surround him with a mediocre team he will play just as mediocre.
The reason why Messi was always so great in the past was because Barca dominated with Xavi and Iniesta behind him.
At least Maradona could just pick up the ball and score a goal out of his own in a WC match.

Don't really think he's that underrated. He was acclaimed almost immediately when him and Tevez came over to West Ham, and he's made CB a position of his own out of necessity.

Under Maradonna Argentina played a better attacking style of football, but their defense was pure shit, they lost to Germany 4-0 and their defense looked like what we saw yesterday from Brazil, under Sabella they play more balance it may not look pretty but it's has them in the WC final you can say they don't have a chance but they are in the finals..
