I really didn't think they'd do it because the light suit is exactly what I wanted from SSB4. I'm actually super surprised. Hopefully link will get his Zora tunic from TP. Then I'd be totally satiated with alt costumes.

It seems like we're getting pretty a pretty good collection of colors and alts. Sure, some aren't going all the way to a model swap like they should... but it isn't a big loss.

This is good news to me. I feel like this confirms that we'll be getting tons of outfits that aren't just very generic color swaps.
I actually hope these are unlockable, as it would be nice to have something that isn't a character to strive for.
Plus, it would be a cool way to show off your progress when playing on line.

If they decide to go with a rule of one model swap per character (currently a relatively unfounded assumption but still), then I'm glad they at least use palette swaps to represent other potential candidates. I would prefer a Super Metroid style Varia Suit (probably not happening because it looks too similar to her default), Fusion Suit, or PED Suit alt for Samus over Light Suit anyways.

Didn't the Sheik 3DS video show several of her aerials not having lag? If so, she might be good. Afaik there hasn't been much 3DS multiplayer played yet, or at least not shown in videos.

I'd say Wireframe Mac and Pink Sweats Mac has already broken the 1-per character idea. I understand Wireframe Mac is just a texture swap, but it seems drastic enough to matter.

Mmm, not sure what you mean by "drastic". I mean, it's pretty much the same thing as this Mario color and the Link SS color where it's a texture swap, but not one that simply changes the palette, except that Wireframe Mac is a rare example of transparency being used for the skin texture.
Either way, I'm not sure how strictly Sakurai would follow those sort of "rules" anyways. I get the feeling that if he or his team felt particularly inspired by some 2nd model swap idea, they'd just do it. Plus I'm still assuming everyone gets a model swap in the first place.
This is why I love them, feels like 1. Thought has gone into them 2. The reference is clear.
