He's the main character though. Also having played through the entire game ( I don't know if you have) I actually like his character and the arc he goes through.

I'm mostly curious to see Shulk in a better graphics engine. Xenoblade isn't an ugly game, but something about the character models is kind of whatever to me. I actually think his standard outfit will look really good in Smash's engine.

I don't actually have a problem with him, he just pales in comparison to everyone else. I know if we get anyone, it would be him, but I'm still disappointed.

The most glorious trailer...I can see it now.
It starts off with a Mr. Saturn walking along. We can hear what sounds like a car speeding along and notice he's walking on what looks to be a road. We see F-Zero cars spin out and crash into an unexplained iceberg in the middle of the road. The Mr. Saturn keeps walking and meets a second Mr. Saturn with a blonde hair instead of black. It's forced off screen by a giant telekinetic hand making the first one ran back the opposite way. A few Arwings drop some bombs near him, making him run another way- only to hear a roar and see a giant shadow of a dragon-like creature with wings flapping and fire breathing (but we never see the creature).
We see him run into a cave, and hear evil laughter and psychic powers that send him throw the air. He lands in a pile of giant pill pods, gyros, pokeballs (including one near a fancy hat and a green leaf). He gets up and is surrounded by cardboard boxes and motorcycle parts in this warehouse. We hear what sounds like singing that peaks his interest, stopped by a sword noise. Finally calm, Mr. Saturn sits down.
Only to be picked up by Shulk. Cue card. Shulk gameplay. Trailer over.

I must just be getting cynical in my old age but I can't get excited at all for a character I don't know (Shulk or Isaac for that matter) I know I hear xenoblade is awesome but I no longer have the time to pour into an RPG like that (I hear it's between like 60-100 hours, yikes!) chorus men seem interesting to me but the only other newcomers I would be interested in are advance wars character, excite bike (as another WTF character) or someone from awakening. I'm actually entirely content with the roster otherwise (assuming they bring back the rest of the brawl veterans; with or without snake)

I get excited even for characters I don't know, as it just means more variety in who I'll get to fight. But I agree, I'm already completely satisfied with the newcomers that have already been announced; three of them (Mega Man, Greninja, and Little Mac) are already candidates for new mains. Everything they announce from here on out is just icing.
I don't have the time to pour into a huge RPG like I used to either, but I managed to get through Xenoblade giving it an hour or two a night here and there. It took awhile, but it was worth it.
I'd recommend at least giving it a try. I was hesitant as well due to being so busy, but it was such a memorable experience for me it basically made me go out and buy a Wii U just to play Xenoblade Chronicles X on the system (although Mario Kart and 3D World have been an absolute pleasure too)
I like Ridley in the SSBM intro movie. Always thought that was a good candidate for an eventual Ridley Smash design.
But he's really purple, and the wing of SSB4 Ridley doesn't look purple at all.

Not the most familiar with the Metroid series. Are there a lot of viable Ridley designs? What are we looking at here exactly? When I think Ridley I think Super Metroid dude
I'm not very interested in speculating about newcomers at this point. I got Little Mac, who has been my most requested since Melee, (why the fuck did it take so long), and Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Chrom are just icing. As long as Snake and the expected vets return, I'm completely satisfied.
If Snake doesn't return, I really will be severely disappointed. It's make or break for me. Of course I'm still going to play it, but man I'm really gonna be missing something. You just can't take that from me. It's WRONG!

I agree with you tho, the whole OST is generic at best.
I said something like this before in this thread- Shulk is like Harry Potter. He isn't exactly the most exciting character, but he represents the franchise the best.

Yeah, that was one of the only songs I liked. But even then...I'd rather just have some Prime or Super Metroid.
Even better. So if the Gematsu 3 were all in, then 6 out of 12 (half!) of the newcomers would be from 2007 and beyond. Sakurai chose well.

Saw this on KYM felt appropriate.
A combination of swimming oil and leggings would be the best option, but most of Xenoblade's armour was fairly garbage. I only really liked Dunban's standard outfit and the black variation on Melia's.

While Zero Suit Samus was technically created in 2004, the concept of an "exposed" Samus started at the very beginning with Justin Bailey, and Zero Suit Samus in Smash is a representation of that concept, which has been used throughout the Metroid series. It's a similar situation to Little Mac. Technically he was created in 87, but since the other playable boxers in the Punch-Out!! series are unnamed, Little Mac represents all of them. So I would have ZSS at 1986.
