US PSN 99¢ Flash Sale: Wild Arms, Syphon Filter, Dino Crisis, Legend of Dragoon, more

DC2, with it's combos and extinction points, should have been anchor point for the action-horror series that Resident Evil is now. You're fighting against fast-moving dinos as the default enemy after-all, and not slow-moving zombies anymore with the occasional fast-moving BOW like Licker or Hunters thrown-in. You even have the helmet enemies in DC2 as an opposing faction made-up of human enemies. Lets ignore Dino Stalker and Dino Crisis 3, and simply say that there are still people out there waiting for a resolution to Dino Crisis 2's cliffhanger ending. With Jurassic Park World coming out soon, the time seems right for Dino Crisis' return to form.


Resident Evil did not need to change into RE4 style action-horror. The only reason RE:Code Veronica possibly felt 'dated' at the time of release was because it didn't retain the improvements from RE3 such as dodging, the quick 180' turn and split-second choices which dynamically affected the story of the game. It also didn't have the feature from Dino Crisis 2 whereby we could move whilst shooting our gun (which DC2 was able to have alongside the fixed camera angles mind you). RE's future should have been in the GameCube 'RE-Make' style of games, and 'Resident Evil Outbreak' should have been left in the oven for an extra year whilst the 'File 3' portion was finished-off, by which time Xbox Live and PSN online services would have been more mainstream and the game would have fared a lot better.

Holy Fuck that's actually the official company suggestion? That's atrocious!

For me it was a UN-attractive workaround, the lesser of two evils between buying a second vita verses having to reformat memory card and vita every time I wanted to swap regions. But to find out that's Sony's official comment on the matter... WOW.
 
Is there a way for me in Germany to make use of these? I own some of these already but would spend 99¢ to be able to replay them. Hope they are translated into German if possible.

Bought Legend Of Dragoon and VF2. Now have eight dollars left in my PSN wallet.

Might get Dino Crisis 2 and one of the Wild Arms games a little later.

How good is Harvest Moon Back to Nature? Is it just as good as HM64 or no? I've never played it but buying it for 99 cents seems like something I can't pass up if it's a good Harvest Moon game.

Edit: Oh, went back a few pages and my question was basically answered already. SOLD. Going to get it, even if I don't like it it was a dollar anyway.

I wish the whole game was 2D. I remember the 3D battles being bad and slow. Also, muthafucking random battles.
 
Only got Legend of Dragoon, guess it'll finally be time to play it. Would've gotten Wild Arms but apparently I already did either from another sale or it was a PS+ thing some time back. Pretty sure I still have WIld Arms 2 but don't remember if I finished it or not.
 
Grabbed Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms 1 and 2. Absolutely loved LoD and WA2 back when I first played them. Never played WA1, though.
 
Got Harvest Moon, Legend of Dragoon, and Wild Arms 1 & 2. I have HM and LoD but I would like to play them again without busting out the PS1 and worrying about if my memory card would get corrupt.

Hadn't thought of that. Grabbed a 10$ card from Amazon and grabbed 10 more games. Now I can proudly say I own Legend of Dragoon.

This is probably PSN's best flash sale so far.

Did the guys behind Lufia develop this game? I'm seeing some influence (lots of puzzles, puzzle-items, etc)

Also Cecilia's victory "dance" when she beats a boss wtf.

If you like tank-esque controls and more scare than action (akin to classic RE2/3), get the first one

If you want a more action-y shooter with tank controls and less scares, get 2.

For what it's worth, they're both incredibly short, even by today's standards (You can beat the first Dino Crisis in an afternoon)
 
Grabbed Legend of Dragoon. And oh my the production values and realistic proportioned characters are a welcome. The backgrounds are also good looking with 3d models.
The dragon encounter with trees falling and rocks falling and I was impressed.

Watched the video of SP:2 on Youtube and kept Lolling at animations and voice acting and decided to pass on them.

And those debating getting Dino Crisis 2. Get it. Its the best arcadey shooter ever. Keeping them combos up is so fun. It still holds up. Dino Crisis is a bit slow paced but if you like RE get it. Wont be disappointed.
 
Well I purchase Dino Crisis 1+2, Wild Arms 1+2, and Legend of Dragoon all for less than $5. That's insane.

I already owned Wild Arms 1 and Legend of Dragoon on the PS1, but it's easier to have it digitally [since my PS1/PS2 is no longer connected], and for play on various devices [such as the Vita].

Some great stuff in this deal, and for an amazing price.

Never played LoD or WA before. Early impressions: LoD I'm finding strangely uneven. Visuals are good (considering the date), music is hit or miss. Like, Menu Music is really good, victory fanfare is laughably awful. I'm also having issues timing the button press you have to make during attacks. IDK if it's because of input lag or what, but i'm having to hit the button (seemingly) super early in order to time it right. It makes me feel like I did the first time I played FFVII (though i'm not as impressed with it as I was with VII), and that's a good thing.

I only bought Wild Arms because of the hype in this thread for it (and the price, obviously) and I have to say (after an hour) it lives up to said hype. Granted the 3d battles look bad, but the music and 2d world make up for it. It makes me think of a less-talky Golden Sun (at least the art style does). I'm looking forward to playing the rest of it, moreso than LoD. It's worth the dollar for the music, seriously.

Can't really judge a Harvest Moon game by an hour of play, but really enjoying it as well. It'll get lots of play when I transfer it to my PSP.
 
Nice, I was just thinking about trying out the Wild Arms series.

I only own a PSP 2000. Do you need a PS3 to transfer PS1 classics to the PSP, or can you download games directly to the PSP?
 
I went a little crazy.

Both wild arms and legend of dragoon, also got harvest moon and twisted metal black and then picked up Stella deus for 3.99 too. Not too shabby for credit that has just been sitting on my account for months

Now just to find some actual time
 
Bought LoD. Never played it. But for .99c why the hell not. Also bought VF2 for some Saturn memories. Will probably buy Harvest Moon and the 2 Wild Arms. Again haven't played all 3.

For Dino Crisis queries, I'll throw my 2p in. I didn't really like the first. Bit slow. But I loved the sequel. Totally different how the play and feel but the first didnt do anything for me. Still again for .99c if you don't like em it's no loss.

Still can't decide if I want to get Harvest Moon. It looks interesting, I've never played a HM game before, but it looks like the type of game I'd want to play on mobile or handheld. I'm not sure I'd actually sit in front of my TV on my couch and touch this.

Maybe my 6 year old daughter would like it...?

Legend of Dragoon is like a molasses simulator. Maybe if I was unemployed. The game feels super ps1 and very classic but the battles are just so, so slow.

I'd probably go with Wild Arms, though I'm admittedly an RPG guy. I picked up Crisis as well, so that might change when I have time to play through them.
