After BF4 and TitanFall I decided I'm done with FPS games not named Destiny. I'm sorry, Metro fans.

I'm trying to get into BF4, as for Titanfall, i gave it a shot during the free weekend EA offered us, and let's just say i didn't like it.

Guess that means it's fine that people can pull instakills out of their ass then.
Yeah, it kind of does because Bungie philosophy here is wanting to take your Guardian into multiplayer.

You don't have to like it. It's okay. I'm not a huge fan of it either but you shouldn't have expected Halo.

I redeemed my retailer code and it doesn't show up on my account. It actually has shown up once before, but most of the time, it says I have redeemed no codes. Anyone else experiencing this?

I for one really like the supers. You can't exactly spam them and using them strategically is far better than just using it on one person in that GIF above.

I've seen some really smart plays involving supers and that's just the first set of Focus subclasses. Once people get their hands on supers such as Titan's dome shield, Warlock's revive/buff thingy it'll be very interesting.

I guess I should've expected it with how terrible Bungie has handled certain aspects of the past couple of Halo games. Armor abilities and equipment still keep me up at night. The super power magic whateverthefucks are definitely a step up from that though as they're directly meant to kill people instantly as opposed to Halo's equivalents which were more defensive overall.

Ugh this kind of stuff is why I can't see myself playing much PvP. Total get out of jail free card here when he's surprised by that player for the insta-kill.

He's not even facing the other player!

To be fair, you can only perform your super once every minutes. It has to charge up, and then you have to choose when to use it. In that gif he used it and took out one guy and saved himself. But he might run into a situation a minute later where he wished he had a super charged up.

That only means that you can never really predict when someone is going to use a super which is even worse in that sense. It's a straight-up cheap kill and the dude who was on the receiving end got cheated out of a kill.

Datto tested it and found it's just under 5 minutes for the Super bar to fill from empty to full. However that's without killing anything and without bonuses to the Super regen.

It's not like once you super you have a guaranteed kill, especially with Golden Gun. There were several moments in the alpha where someone would super for me, and either miss or I'd be able to strafe out of the way allowing me to turn that particular fight around; and supers show up pretty infrequently in multi unless you're absolutely wrecking everyone, so I don't really see what the big deal is.

I had enough Intelligence on my character in the alpha where my super charged 33% faster. But I was using Golden Gun, which is more challenging to use than the Warlock or Titan super.

Yeah I get that, and although I don't love the mechanic in PvP my main problem with that is that the game doesn't require you to even been be looking at the player. Just hands the player the kill cause the player is in the vicinity. Stuff like that just lowers skill gap in PvP.

Because I'm joking around with Kyoufu. Obviously a lot of people enjoyed The Last of Us and the remastered is well worth the money for many of them, and of course ND put a lot of effort into that game.

Though, honestly, I didn't find The Last of Us to be all that great. It suffered from the same problem all ND games did from last gen: excellent presentation and story, average-to-bad gameplay.

I wish Naughty Dog would go back to making games like Jak and Daxter.

Or multiplayer games. The TLoU MP was incredible.

Microsoft won't allow it, because they suck.

Microsoft won't allow it, but Sony will? Have they talked about it or something?

Also, all that exclusive content is timed, and I seriously doubt Sony's marketing deal with Activision is for the entirety of the 10 year deal that Activision has with Bungie and Destiny. It would be shortsighted of Activision to do that.

I think it's way too soon to say it lowers skill gap.

The one thing that can be said about it is that will cause the meta to be completely different than every other competitive shooter out. Right now, everyone is playing it like a run n gun game but as players get used to the mechanics of the supers, it will affect the way people travel the map, how people control areas of the map, and as a result counters will be found, etc..

Now maybe the maybe will be unsatisfying or maybe it will be fun. That we'll have to wait and see on. But it's definitely too early to say it lacks skill. Give people time to play with it and figure it out first.

Getting fucked over only once in a match and still one time too many. I've had matches in the alpha where I played great, but where I felt cheated by the game just because of those couple of deaths that happened purely because the person who killed me happened to have his bar filled up. How do you fight against something like that? At least with the heavy ammo I can see that it has spawned and has been picked up so I can anticipate having to fight against heavy weaponry. With the supers you can't practically predict it.

People will learn the best places on the map to use those supers which in turn means people will know the places to be cautious around. The gameplay will develop around the skills over time, like it always does.

I disagree

Having a hit box so large/magnetism so strong that I don't have to be facing a player to land a hit is a very obvious example of lowering of the skill gap compared to being forced to aim my shoot/melee/power well in order to land a hit.

Average to bad gameplay? The MP is one of the best MPs last gen. ND isn't going back to Jak and Daxter because no one outside of Nintendo fans buy those games.

Yep, there is certainly a randomness to each match due to supers, but the way I see it is, people use their supers against me and I get ample opportunity to use mine against them, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Maybe the final game will have barebones playlists where supers can't be used?

I actually had a pretty easy time predicting supers based on how aggressive their movement towards me was, and looking at the scoreboard can give me an idea of how likely someone is going to have their super up or not, so I disagree that there's no way to predict supers. And I don't understand why you would feel cheated when you have access to the same supers, if you get killed by one you can turn right around and kill them with yours if or when you charge it up. I mean, I can understand why you feel that way but I disagree, and I'm one of the people who had pure hatred for the shit Bungie tossed into Reach because of how it screwed with the competitive play, if anything there was very seldomly an instance in the alpha where I felt like I even had to use my super (join in progress to a match on First Light with the other team having two tanks,) instead I would just use it when I wanted to.

Then don't fight a Titan in close enough quarters to allow the super to play into the firefight. There are multiple entries to every control point on the map. No less than 3 per point iirc. If you know that two of those entries are choke points then try the third. Or poke your head/fire some shots to bait them forward and then nade the choke. Or any number of possibilities.

If a Titan has a super and he's camping a chokepoint specifically to smash you when you push, that's not lower skill cap, that's map control and denial. We don't even know about all the hard counters for the various supers. Give the game time to be played and the meta to develop and then we can judge whether or not "the skillcap" is lowered.

Sony have nothing against cross-platform play which is why FFXIV is on PS3/PS4, but since MS are against it, the game isn't on Xbox 360/Xbone. It's silly because they allowed FFXI on 360, but not this...

Until MS changes policies, we won't see any cross-platform Destiny games.

It's been a sticking point for several mmos like FFXIV. They wanted to launch on xbone but ms policy basically stated that all games required their own servers and they wouldn't make an exception. So SE told them "oh well" and made the ps3 ps4 and pc versions all cross platform.

PS3 and PS4 is highly different than PS4 and Xbox One. I very much doubt either company would be for that.

I take it that Destiny is cross-platform with PS3 and PS4 then?

I think you will automatically face the player IF he is within the death zone. He will inevitably die and he is close to you so the animation is played out that way.

I've seen lots of Fist of Havocs where the player has been going straight forward, without facing anyone.

I just hope they take off the invincibility frames that it gives them. My Nova Bomb should still hit dammit! Alpha crucible frustrations are showing.

No. Sony doesn't care. They have no reason to care. Most players would be on PS4 anyway.

The only stumbling block for a potential cross-platform Destiny game is the PlayStation exclusive DLC.

So Destiny is shared with PS3 and PS4 users then? If not, why not? If Sony doesn't care, and it's been done before with FF, then it shouldn't be a problem.
