US PSN 99¢ Flash Sale: Wild Arms, Syphon Filter, Dino Crisis, Legend of Dragoon, more

I decided to go with

Wild Arms 2 - Started playing this on the PSone a long time ago, never got the chance to finish it. I have a bad habit of starting Wild Arms games but never finishing the. *glares at WA3*
Legend of Dragoon - One of the few talked about PSone era rpgs that I've literally never played. One of my shames as a rpg player.
Double Dragon Neon - I like beat em ups. For $0.99, I'll be pleased if I get 30 minutes of enjoyment out of it, honestly.
Worms Revolution - Love the worms games, hopefully the sale means there will be a ton of new people like me online.
Virtua Fighter 2 - Virtua Fighter with online play? I'm in.


I should probably just grab the rest of them just to stockpile, but Plus only is killing my meager little harddrive and my gaming time. I seriously need to chill out on grabbing everything Plus has to offer....naaaah

This Flash sale totally makes up for the honestly shitty weekly update sale they had this week. I've been disappointed two weeks in a row with the items on sale in the store. This really turned my opinion of July around.

I had $2 left on my US PSN account so got twisted metal black. Will be nice as a guy from the UK to play the non censored version.

Yes after a few hours from playing all 3 character's prologues they all meet up and you play as all 3.

1 hour in Legend of Dragoon and I'm liking it a lot. It's really easy to pick up and play. No long and drawn-out tutorials helps a lot.
 
I was wondering why Urban Trial Freestyle only had "Download to your Vita". I forgot I even bought the game for $0.99 back in April. #firstworldproblems
 
Spent $10 and got everything that will play on my Vita that I didn't already own.

Between this and the 2K Humble Bundle, this morning I picked up almost 20 games I won't have time to play...

For a buck each might as well pick up old favorites Dino Crisis 1 and Dino Crisis 2 even though I could just pop in the games in the still hooked up PS2.
 
Bought ToeJAM & Earl, Wild Arms 1 and 2 and Legend of Dragoon. I really liked TJ&E on the Genesis, and the PS3 version has trophies so it'll be fun to play it again and get them. Never played the other three but I've wanted to for a while.

Thanks, you answered my first question about the sale. Lol I remember one of my college room-mates playing Syphon Filter back in 99/2000 and having never had the time/inclination to play it back then thought I might check out the whole series now. I'll avoid.

Im probably the most curious about the Dino Crisis, Twisted Metal Black, Syphon Filter, and Wild Arms series in that order. I didnt play any of those back in the day. How well do they hold up? I only have moderate levels of patience for jank and bad yesteryear graphics, but if there is a good core I'll stick with it.

As for the newer stuff, its all fair game. Never played any of the Worms series...and I had a blast with the old Double Dragon games so might be fun to revisit it with Neon.

I know zip about Papo & Yo, The Cave, Machinarium, Malicious, or the Legend of Ragoon.

Probably the only for sure pickup for me is VF2 since it was a blast on the Saturn and the last period of time I did much console gaming until about 2010 when I picked up my 360s and PS3s.
 
welp, I had $5.00 in my acct so I picked up Harvest Moon, Wild Arms 1&2, and Dino Crisis 1&2. Don't know jack about any of these games but it was too tough to pass up!
 
I'm seeing a ton of similarities between Wild Arms 1 and Lufia 2. Similar combat interface (in fact, almost an exact copy), similar plot elements, similar (though so far, inferior) tool/puzzle mechanics. I don't see any obvious overlap between the staff on the two titles, though. Just an homage?
 
I bought:

-Wild Arms 1&2
-Dino Crisis 1&2
-Siphon Filter 1, 2 and 3
-Harvest Moon

I've played the two Dino Crisis games and the first two Siphon Filter games before. I have no idea what the Wild Arms games are, except for being RPGs. I have also never played a Harvest Moon game; I bought it for kicks.

How are the Wild Arms games ? Lots of people in here seem to like them, but why ? What's so great about them ?

I would have grabbed Legend of Dragoon in a heartbeat had I owned a PS3.
 
Thanks for bumping this, didn't know the sale was going on. Was just thinking last week I wish they would do something with the PS1 games they have.

Picked up Wild ARMS, Legend of Dragoon, Papo & Yo, Dino Crisis, pretty much everything that hasn't been part of PS+ at some point.

Agree with this. Any news as to whether already purchased classic games will be PS4 downloadable/playable or will we likely have to buy again if we want to play on PS4?
 
I played DC2 last night. Not my style. I want Resident Evil...not this...third person prerendered shooter basically. Meh.

Never played a Wild Arms game, so should I pick up the first or second game?

I say go for it, but IIRC getting up in Tekken 2 takes a long time as opposed to Tekken games after it (unless there's a quick way to get up that I never knew about).
Part of the fun of the Tekken 1-3 games on PSX was unlocking characters, but T2 should have team battle mode which is tons of fun.

VF2 has moon jumps where if an opponent is knocked down, you can do an attack where you jump to the air and punch a grounded opponent. Graphics still hold up impressively well IMO. Besides you can never get enough of Akira's 'JYUUNIN HYAN DA YO!'

We don't even have Syphon Filter or Legend of dragoon on the store.

We won't get flash sales but the JPN sale was good.
 
Just started Dino Crisis 1 for the first time in five or six years (maybe more). I checked out a faq to fully understand the mixing system. Believe it or not, I was not creating darts or high-end med kits when I played in the past. And I beat the game several times.

I probably made my playthrough a lot harder.
 
Already have some of them, but I got Wild Arms 2 and Legend of Dragoon. What about Dino Crisis 2? Is it good?

RE1 and 2 are my favorite games of that genre (and that series), so it sounds like I could do a LOT worse than DC1. I may grab 2 as well since it's so damn cheap. Thank you!
 
I bought everything except Thomas was Alone and those colorful space shooters (I'm happy enough with Super Stardust and Resogun if I feel like that kind of game.)
All those PS1 games were a must, especially Dino Crisis, Legend of Dragoon and Syphon Filter. Good prices!
