What would it take for Enix to acknowledge and re-release their SNES games?

I mean, I already own and love EVO, but I don't think regular people should have to pay $150 just to try it out.

They did put ActRaiser and Ogre Battle on Wii VC so it's not like they've outright refused their Enix properties. I have no idea why they won't commit though.

One minute play limit is totally stupid anyway.

What? 1-minute play limit? Wow... who thought that was a good idea?

I already own (and have played most of) the game, so it doesn't bother me personally, but that's a really crappy thing to do. Sounds like they have absolutely zero confidence in your own game.

Honestly, found the game pretty ok (post-patch), and I never bothered finishing because of a stupid boss fight. Overall, can't say I've been impressed by the game itself, but I guess that at a low enough price, it can be an interesting purchase to make.

The game isn't very long and features 2D, pseudo-3D and fully 3D levels. I guess they wanted to show off each type of level without giving away too much of the game? Still a pretty dumb idea to restrict the play time like that.

Still, the Soul Blazer trilogy is one of many obvious inclusions on the VC that we just haven't seen yet. Hopefully soon...
It was one of the most egregious omissions on the Wii Virtual Console too. Up there with Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, Demon's Crest and Konami's Genesis games. Terranigma was always topping the Nintebdo Power wanted VC list too I recall so there was clear demand there.

So I'm redeeming 250 club Nintendo coins on Paper Mario (N64). Whenever I enter the code from the wii U eshop, I get the error 107-3108. It says the download code I entered is not currently being distributed. Before I call nintendo, is this promotion even going on yet?

You have to enter it in the Wii Shop Channel. It's a Wii game, not Wii U.

Yep, that's probably it. And if you're playing on a Wii U, you'll need a Classic Controller of some kind. If you're playing on a Wii, a GCN controller will work.

Have you actually played it?

No, I just can't stand anything about his stuff.

Likely residual resentment from having to deal with moderating so many links to his stuff on NSider back when he first started doing them, due to the profanity laced throughout, and having to deal with people messaging "Why can't I post that? It has to do with Nintendo!"

I have no idea about the game, but honestly I find the AVGN pretty funny. The actor is a super nice guy normally, which in turn makes the character even funnier imo. Kind of like Stephen Colbert acting the opposite of what he really is. Plus, most of the time the AVGN's criticism is interesting and phrased in an entertaining way

Hmm... got a $20 card for Shovel knight and was thinking of getting Jett Rocket 2 with my remaining funds... until I tried the demo. Goodness, the 1 minute limit is so off putting for demos, did shinen do this with their other games? Anyway, I can see most of you guys are mostly "ehh" on the game. Any good game to spend my $5 on?

There's seriously a one minute limit? What kind of demo is that!

One minute until you get ripped out of the level. You can play the demo itself as long as you like. There are 6 or so levels available.

It's a terrible way to get people to buy the game just because of how unpleasant it feels to be doing well in a level and forced to stop.

It's kind of a shame as well, as the flow of the game seems fine in that 1 minute, but with only 1 minute, I can't judge how well the levels work.

I just discovered that. Thanks guys. I still have original Wii classic controller Pro. So I'm set.

Sweet! Enjoy it. It's an amazing game.

For 3DS, right? Maybe the original Metroid. Tough but well worth playing, and save states will be available.

That game has aged terribly and I would only recommend it to Metroid fans that really want to see the origin of the series.

If VC and hard games are all right, you should try Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. I played it recently and was blown away by how modern it seemed; multiple paths and supporting characters, varied level design, NG+ with stronger and new enemies.
If you want something easier, then Wario Land II for GBC. A platformer focused on exploration with lots of transformations and some tricky platforming if you want to 100% it. Much better than the sequel that starts you powerless and requires you to revisit the same levels over and over to hide the fact that it only has about half the levels compared to II.

I dunno, I played it for the first time last year when I was getting into the Metroid series for the first time (after playing Metroid II) and I found it frustrating in parts but nonetheless compelling and worthwhile to play. I felt like it held up surprisingly well. Just different opinions, though, and I completely respect yours.

I'll be glad to second the WLII recommendation. I'd even go as far as to recommend the first WL game if you haven't played it. I think that one holds up pretty well, also.

I still love the original Metroid. It's tough at first but gets much easier the farther in you get. And if it's too hard there's always cheat codes or save states to get you through.

I played it for the first time a year or 2 ago and it just felt so dated. Having to grind for missiles and health was really annoying and I didn't like how you had to
bomb randomly
to progress; I had to look up how to get to Ridley because I was tired of going in circles. Sure, you could use save states to avoid the grind but I'm not a fan of those. And if you take a good look there's really not that much to the game;
3
bosses, a couple of enemies and endless wandering in search of power ups through samey looking environments. The level design is nothing special; the most interesting thing is using the Ice Beam. Samus is also a bit too floaty for my liking. Playing Zero Mission and Fusion beforehand also didn't help; I expected a lot of more.

Wario Land I is OK and worth playing, but II is a much better game; one of the best platformers I've ever played.

I'll agree that the original Metroid doesn't hold up well at all, and also throw my hat in the ring for Wario Land 2, one of the best games on GBC.

Super Metroid definitely still holds up IMO, but I don't think it's for sale on the 3DS eshop. It might have just been with the ambassador program.

Haven't played the original since I only acquired the NES cart a few months ago, but Metroid II is excellent and rather impressive.

Already tried Metroid, it was okay since I used a map
No way in hell would I know to bomb a certain floor to move on to the next area
It certainly set the mood so I give it a pass. Zero Mission blows it out of the water regardless.

As for CV3, I might try that right after I try the other two games first. I've seen some reviews that state this game as the hardest in the series so I'm a bit worried about that. Might as well practice my skills with the first. The only other CV games I played and completed were Metroidvanias (from SotN to OoE). Thanks for reminding me about CV though, forgot about that on VC.

Keep in mind CV2 is different from any other game in the series. It's sort of halfway between the classic formula and the metroidvanias, to disastrous results. It might be better with save states, but it's generally regarded as one of, if not the worst 2D game in the series.

Any one having difficulty buying the letter? Saw the miiverse icon when I booted up my wiiu and thought the game looked interesting. When I go to purchase it off the eshop it says there is no information about the game. Am I missing something? I tried asking on miiverse but no one has replied to me. Hopefully gaf can help. :p

I've played CV the Adventure on the Gameboy, I doubt Simon's Quest will reach that low. Besides, I will play the game for the sake of me saying I played that game. I watched the Sequelitis review and even Jame's Rolfe's review and those two will not stop me from getting the game. I'll use online guides anyway so it can't be that bad
hopefully.

Castlevania 2 is my favorite game in the series >.>

See this post: You might have dodged a bullet by not being able to buy it.

And wow at The Letter... If it wasn't for the horrible loading, that environment might have been fine. That loading really kills the mood. The way it looks, really reminds me of those Early Access games on Steam.
Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u39AmLJRw6Y
Edit: Holy shit, is that whole game really only 5 minutes?..

Oh, I'm having great difficulties buying The Letter.

The greatest.
