Didn't plan to in alpha, got suckered into doing a match because i was bored sitting on level cap and enjoyed myself immensely. I have a general distaste for MP shooters on consoles (with Halo being one of the few exceptions) but by the end of the alpha i was probably doing nothing but PVP.

I'm willing to give it a try. It's just that I normally don't go for PvP in anything, whether a shooter or even the MMORPGs I play.

Why would you think that you would need to upgrade? They've never said that.

It says something to that effect in the PS Store, something about "Pay $29.99 for Guardian Edition to guarantee Beta Access". It's on a big gold advertisement. Can't see it at the moment, storms put my power out.

PsychoRaven, I was just watching an IGN video about Titans in the Crucible (Still not changing my mind that Hunters are the best <3) and you were in that game. You're everywhere :p

HAHAHAHA. That's too cool. Looks like when I was trying to level up the Shotgun cause I kept using it and I was sucking so much ass when I was.

Not for me, but for others. So they know that you've got a super.

I know, I could've sworn that the health bar over enemies' heads pulses yellow when they have a super charged. I didn't record any crucible gameplay myself so I'll have to look for it in a video, but I'm like 85% sure this is a feature.

EDIT: actually I think it's their level number that glows, not he health bar. Let me see if I can find a good video...

Well that seems shady of Sony TBH - all preorders of any edition from the PS Store are getting beta access. Could possibly be a miscommunication obviously but hopefully this isn't something they are doing to try and get more people to upgrade their pre-orders.

Not to be an old stick in the mud, but is there anyone besides me who is not planning on doing any PvP at all?

You're not alone. I've seen all that I need of PvP to be confident in it. I'll be dedicating all of my time to everything PVE. The draw for exploration is strong in this one.

Well most people seem to think the cap is level 7 based off igns videos. It could just be Bungie trolling us. Don't expect level 20 though. That is just wishful thinking.
I think 7 would be about right, I'm pretty sure Deej said leveling up was accelerated in the Alpha, the Beta will probably be closer to the speed at which you level up. 7 may even take longer than it took to get to 8 in the Alpha.
Either way it all gets reset anyway.

Psycho you were in an IGN video?! Can I have you on my friends list?!

HAHAHA. Oh that was fun times. But damn I was sucking with my shotgun on that. Still was fun as hell though. I actually heard from someone I showed up in some of that leaked footage too before the alpha was revealed to the public.

I think this video has what you are talking about (level numbers blinking with a yellow outline)

HERE IT IS! Regarding enemy super indicators:

In this crucible video, note two enemies, first the one at 4:25, who has a normal level indicator. It's red; he doesn't have his super charged.

Now, at around 5:45, you'll see a Warlock whose level indicator glows gold, indicating his super is charged.

They definitely need to be made more visible, if I'm the only person who seems to have noticed them, but they are there! You can definitely tell who's about to pull a Golden Gun, or whip a Nova Bomb at you, you just have to pay really close attention.

Good call, in this one I think TweedleDee7 at around 3:22 is the first person it's visible on.

You want someone on your friends list just because they were in an IGN video? wut

Yea man, GAF loves anything and everything associated with IGN. PsychoRaven is basically famous now.

Ha, Bungie one step ahead of us. But yea, it'd be nice if it was more clear.

The idea of the HUD telling me someone's super is available is kind of dumb. There class specific armor should glow or something.
ya its not very useful when it is on the HUD. you have to be aiming at them and that doesnt do much in a corridor anyway. Then again, even a big DANGER sign on the Titan wouldnt have made a difference for the guy who got smashed.

Only way to balance them for those encounters is to put a charge time on em. either way, they're inherently unpredictable.

Maybe Bungie should just let us install HUD elements to help us keep track of everyone's cooldowns for their grenades and supers, like WoW!

I don't know, I think a little glowy thing over someone's head works just fine. In the alpha I distinctly remember spotting that before fighting someone and using that information to change the way I engaged them. Didn't get in the way, provided the same amount of information something like making their character glow would've. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They should make the golden glow more prominent, or perhaps have it be a solid color over the current faint outline:

Or they could put a small indicator to the right side instead of adding a third long bar which might clutter things too much:

P.S. Hold your applause for my MS Paint skills.

I'm confused about the Peter votes. . would of been nice not to have it so we could see which class is most popular unless that option is "undecided"

I went Peter because I still don't know. Haven't played it yet. Whoever does the retail OT should make a legit 3 option poll. Everyone should know after the beta what class they want to rock.

I'm sure when you play from the beginning those heavily detailed UIs make sense, but just the sight is enough to turn me off of even trying. Same thing happens me and regular RPGs; if I see too many menus, I'll become instantly exhausted.
