Lucina, Robin AND FEMALE ROBIN, & Captain Falcon Are Today's Smash Newcomers!

Look at this bastard. Look at the emblem on his back! What stage is this anyway?

Isn't that Halberd?

The crazy conspirator in me would like to say that Lucina was supposed to be Chrom until the leaks became too blatant to miss, upon which Chrom was swapped out with Lucina since the characters are, for the most of the part, similar to each other in many aspects.

But I'd prefer to believe Sal's source was just off the money. Now I can hope for Marshal in Smash!

Isn't that Halberd?

Yeah, the faceplate is unmistakable.

Part of me is ridiculously relieved that the Gematsu leak has been proven wrong.
Same. Sad that Chorus Men and Shulk aren't definites now (especially Chorus Men), even if there's still a chance. The leak to me seems to have both true and false information, as some of their correct predictions were beyond luck, IMO.

But yeah, i'm glad. Everything now feels up in the air and exciting again.

They better have a good selection of customization options for Robin.

I wonder how Robin's Tome mechanic is going to work? Gotta pull out an item?

Yea, probably one of his specials to pull out a new tome to change other attacks. I wonder if you can cycle through them or if you need to use it up first.

Lucina is marked as a newcomer on her profile page on the official site, yet isn't given a large space on the characters page + unique artwork like every other newcomer.

She also looks a Marth clone judging by the few seconds of footage we saw of her, so I guess it confirms clone characters are back?

Really wouldn't mind Lucina being a Marth-alt. Look closely at her moves in the trailer, they're really similar to Marth's. Frankly, I would be disappointed if she was just a character clone >_>

On the other hand:
YES

I feel like if I ask casual gamers to play this with me, they're going to be asking me all sorts of questions about who they're looking at. Not that I think this makes the game any lesser, it will just set a different tone than something like Melee back in the day.

Also falcon parries the falchion by just smacking it out of the way with his fist in the trailer then kicks lucina in the face.

Still the best.

I'm glad Rosalina is in just to have more female characters. It's also good because there hasn't be a female sword user. It's good to see a female physical combatant (as in a physical fighter in their original game) other than Sheik and Zero Suit Samus.

I'm still hoping for Shulk. I mean that xenoblade writer's retweet has to mean something, right? Also Ridley forever!

Hopefully there are key changes to how Lucina plays like fox/falco or how Marth and Roy play in Project M.

No Shulk :(

It looks like a command (like Down+B) to drop/generate/cycle to the next book, and probably some kind of charge mechanic with holding B to determine the "level"of spell you produce.

Like in the trailer the sequence for the "Thunder" element book seems to be Thunder -> Elthunder -> Arcthunder -> Thoron

Weren't people complaining Marth felt slow? Maybe they made him slower to allow for Lucina to be faster/more akin to previous Marth

It's not like Melee didn't have it's obscure characters. It would be something if your friends knew who Marth and Roy were considering a FE title hadn't been localized yet.

But there is no 'Marth' in Awakening. The Marth in SSB isn't from Awakening either.

She should fight like she does in the game she comes from. Having her as a clone is earth shatteringly disappointing.

But her animations in Awakening, which were also used for Lodestar Marth in Awakening, were based on Marth's animations from the old NES/SNES games. SSB Marth's animations are Sakurai's own takes on the NES/SNES Marth animations. So, both are based on the same original source, even if they aren't really exactly identical to each other.
