Wasn't the beta said to be free for PS+ owners? Thought there was a thread, missed it in the OP. Anyone know where/how/when to get to it?

Beta needs a preorder to get a code. However there a likely MANY free codes for every platform come when the platform codes are sent out because everyone is getting 3 codes.

I know that multiplayer maps a uniquely created areas, but so far all the revealed maps ( with the exception of the rusted lands, though that's in all likelyhood based on that flooded chicago zone that is very likely also in the game ), have been based on locations we know are gonna be in the game outside of just those multiplayer maps.

By basing multiplayer maps on the locations present in the game, they reduce the number of new assets they have to spend money creating.

Valid point. It's possible they'll throw the PvE activity suite (or just story and explore) on there at some point. Could be a chapter there to tie into the Mars arcs.

Whatever it is, it looks insane and I want to go there now.

Looked more at the companion app stuff by watching the video when I got home from work.

Finally Grimoire is explained better. At least it has in game benefits. Glad to see it's not just a TOTAL cop out to explain your game universe since Bungie couldn't fit it all into Destiny itself it seems... or who knwos maybe the story will explain the world/s and its lore quite well as we play.

Is it Thursday yet!? :(

In all cerealness.
If we actually do make mini-clans based off of the Solar System. Which I thought was a cool idea.

Whoever makes the Sun must name it Sunbros.

Nope, that's not true. You gotta preorder the game to get into the beta. PS+ is required for certain modes in the beta (multiplayer stuff)

Edit- I am too slow

If clan names are unique and assuming you can only be part of one clan at a time (like with Halo 2), then regardless we couldn't do it. We'll have to see once Bungie announces it but unique clan names I'd be pretty sure about, and Sunbros with its variations will easily be one of the first names to go.

Something i have been thinking about while i have been playing SWTOR - The three classes in destiny are essentially the holy trinity in disguise - they each have attributes that the trinity would have in a traditional MMO.

Titan has more armour and is generally more tank then the other two classes - you want the titan to probably be the one getting hit in a raid/strike for this reason which makes him the tank (although lack of taunts would make this hard)

Warlock has the ability to bring people back from the dead during combat in any combat situation and can also provide buffs to players - which also fits into a support/healing role (minus actual healing while alive)

Hunters would be damage speciality with the ability to deal decent amounts of damage in a wide variety of situations (although thats not to say other classes can't). So hunters would fit the DPS/Support role as well.

Obviously all three classes can support a DPS role but it seems to me that Destiny still has the holy trinity there to a certain degree - lack of heals would be the main issue there.

this is pretty reassuring

looks like pointless stuff

It never was going to be something that made you go wow - i need to sell my X1/PC so i can get a PS4 to play all this massive exclusive content for Destiny. I imagine though it is going to be a good incentive for anyone who wants to upgrade to next gen for Destiny as they would likely go PS4.

As long as UranusBros isn't taken I'll be ok with the whole process.

If I recall, Lars mentioned that all three classes (in MMO terms) are essentially a hybrid-DPS. Which would fit with your ideas pretty well.

I already have a clan planned for myself and friends, which is why I'm not in the dGAF group. I created a Bungie group as well but I made it private since I didn't want anyone stealing the clan name at launch. >_>

Well, Titan does have that bubble shield. That's a defensive ability and you can run inside to wait and recharge your health and shields.

Uranus jokes are living proof that some jokes never grow old.

We'll see if they do single clan systems. We're a bit close to beta it'd be nice for them to explain how it works soonish. Hopefully they follow GTAV method of allowing you to be in multiple groups, you just have to switch the active one.

Not trying to derail this thread but multiple people mention how Destiny will just hold them over until Dragon Age. . is Dragon Age that good of a game? Is it similar to Destiny at all also?

nah, it's a single player RPG... the complete opposite of Destiny

That would very much fit into the tanking aspect of the trinity then. A defensive cooldown in order to mitigate damage incoming while you are taking the majority of the fire from enemies in order for your teammates to be less damage and being less harassed while killing mobs.

Many people still have fond memories of Dragon Age Origins (myself included). Inquisition looks REALLY good - running on frostbite 3, getting the main story back on track etc... It just seems that they took all the feedback after the disaster of DA2 and made it great.

However i can easily find time for both Destiny, DA:I and one or two more games come the busy october month i am sure.

Let's keep the discussion short to not derail. First off you should ask in the DA threads for better answers and less of a chance to derail: It's not similar at all, but some of us here are RPG fans as well. Dragon Age series is divisive. The first game, Dragon Age Origins, is almost universally loved among fans. Dragon Age 2 is pretty divisive though, with some hating its guts. But Dragon Age Inquisition promises to have fixed every complaint people had with DA2, and the gameplay videos seem to indicate Bioware has learned their lesson. People are hyped.

As to similarities to Destiny.. none at all outside of classes/skills in a game. If you've ever played a modern Bioware game (Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic, etc..) then it's closer to that. Research it, see if it interests you.
