I've got an interesting question for you guys. Who do you think will be among the best Smash 4 players within the first year if its life? Just for fun, I'm going to go ahead and mock up an EVO '15 top 8. Keep in mind, with a few of these players, I'm only assuming they'll get into the Smash 4 competitive scene:

3. Ally
4. ESAM
5/6. Nairo
5/6. ChuDat
7/8. Hungrybox
7/8. Ken

Most of them will probably declare SSB4 broken and stick to the game they've already mastered (Melee)

I've been thinking though, what if Sakurai's "when you gonna have a new game Captain Falcon?" post and the rumors awhile back about him wanting to revive another series like he did with Kid Icarus leads to a Sakurai-developed F-Zero after Smash?

I mean, imagine how great he'd bring all the characters to life. I don't know if he can do the gameplay justice, but damn I think he can work wonders on any Nintendo-verse.

Rhythm Heaven is the only series we've seen in Smash Run so far that doesn't have a playable rep (excluding the Smash original characters).

I can't see Sakurai throwing in a character from that for no reason.

It's highly likely, since enemies from Rhythm Heaven have been spotted in Smash Run, and so far, only enemies from series with playable characters have been in Smash Run.

If Nintendo starts backing tournaments like Evo, do you think they're going to allow a 13+ year old game completely overshadow their new crown jewel for the Wii U?

I feel like Takamaru lost all chances of being the dead franchise that this Smash resurrects once Megaman, Pac-man, and Little Mac were all confirmed. He can only resurrect so many franchises, guys.

IIRC one of the Smash Fest competitive players did throw a bit of a hissy fit. I don't think it was Mango though. It was one of the female players if I remember correctly, but I could be completely wrong.

I already suspect that not many of the big Melee players will pick up Smash 4. M2K will, Ken will, and I think Hungrybox will, especially after doing so well in the invitational.

Yeah, just have sakurai direct it and make it star captain falcon. Add in some cool racing segments, and we're good. I love the weird star-wars-esque world that captain falcon lives in, and I think it would be a great setting for some weird beat-em-up with sakurai-level crazy plot and collectibles.

Also add in good controls.

Speaking of leaks, I didn't realize how early the Brawl ChaosZero ones were...they first came out in October.

Even if Gematsu's fake, I really think we'll have an authentic complete roster pop up before the end of August.

Based off of what I’ve seen from the new Smash, I don’t think I’m going to like it as much. It looks like a lot of fun and I’ll definitely play with my friends, but after 7 years of competitive Melee, if it doesn’t have the Melee engine it’s hard for me to be very interested competitively. We’ll see.
