I don't think it's been confirmed but in the IGN first videos one of them had a trophy pop up and in the upper right corner of the gameplay it says "Beta build". So that's where this got started.

We don't know if they were playing on the same beta build that we will play on though.

I see. Thanks!

To those that played the Alpha: which class jumping mechanic felt the best?

Titan jetpack looked the most satisfying to use, but I'm interested to hear your opinions.

I cannot stop thinking about the beta every 5 minutes.

What should I do ? Seriously, I am gonna be crazy.

50 hr. from now on seem like to be an eternity.

dont worry, I am sure the beta will suck

No it won't, it will be AMAZING!

I hated jetpacks in reach and Halo 4 as they gave such an advantage

But you know what with triple jump, I'm fine with them, plus I like playing duck hunt.

That is Wizard and Titan duckhunt....

Titan just seemed the most natural to me with the momentum upgrade sprinting and jumping across the battlefield to hulk smash a couple of enemies felt so good

Hunter felt fast and responsive to me. No hang time at all, which I preferred. The warlock's glide felt a lot slower to me; that's good because it gives you time to aim your super, bad because you can get shot easily and can't dodge really well (until you upgrade the glide ability).

Reading the Eurogamer article linked earlier in this thread, I'm interested in seeing what the changes from the Alpha will be, especially the front and centre ones he is speaking off... Hopefully some of the UI elements have been tightened up and getting to things (like Sparrow/Weapons) have been made faster.

(Plus hoping against hope that the loading time is cut down a bit and we get the ability to fully custom map our controller layout.)

Now that we've had a poll for the classes I'm really curious about what race people will pick.
Awoken Warlock is pretty much the only one I have decided on... Still not sure if I want to go Human or Exo for Hunter (currently leaning towards human). Then whatever is left over will be used for the Titan.

I've already thrown my opinion in on this, but I felt each class was good in some way. I didn't play around with the jetpack much, so I'll leave it out. The Warlock glide was useful in that it had the longest time in air. For hovering over doors to Control Points, or gliding longer distances (assuming you knew you weren't about to get blown out of the sky) it performed admirably.

The Hunter jump was the best in-combat. Being able to maneuver while fighting is extremely helpful. And the double jump can line up some feints and such against shotgun and snipers users (hop towards, hop away.

The Titan's main would be best for traversal I suppose. The initial burst it gives seems like it gets highest the quickest, so maybe for getting up close quickly or when fighting close quarters you could shoot up in the sky to try and change the tides? Not sure, since I haven't used it.

To me, hunter felt like the best class to play both in a team and solo.

I can't see myself playing solo with the warlock or titan. Can't wait to try the second super of the hunter, hope it's unlockable in the beta.

I was an Awoken-Titan in the alpha, so I think I'll go Exo-Hunter at first in the beta.

I'm going to very strictly RP this, using HK-47 as my inspiration. I'm sure my fireteam will be cool with it, assuming they eventually figure out what's going on.

Interrogative: Master, will you be speaking to the meatbags in your fire team in this manner?

Litterally nothing new

Preordered a few days ago and entered my beta code.

I want to go in as blind as possible to explore the world, even if I play like a noob.

Based on the info so far on IGN, it seems like the beta is just a small extension of the alpha. Hopefully I am wrong, but two new mps and a few more story missions doesn't sound like anything to get too excited for.

You're gonna get excited, and you're gonna stay excited Mister. Don't make me pull this hype train over.

Not surprising. That's why I kept telling folks not to expect more then what it is. They were never going to give us a ton more in beta. They just weren't. Anyone who thought we would have multiple planets, etc were just delusional.

Good enough for me; 4 crucible maps will last me a while.

Oh, and hasn't an extra strike mission and like 3 more story missions been confirmed? So isn't that really like double the content?

No need to pull over! I'll just wave as you pass by ;)

I am excited for the game, don't get me wrong. I just want to get a sense of how large the game is and the amount of locales you can visit. Seeing Old Russia over-and-over-and-over again is making me not want to ever go there when the full game is released.

I have yet to play it on xbone, so I am excited to try it out. I am mostly interested in the crucible play for the beta. Should be good either way. This thread is just funny at how people are foaming at the mouth for the game to be released ;P

So I haven't been checking this thread much to prevent hype overload, I just read the OP, is there any more news on when US preorders can download? They're really going to make us do it the day of?

Maaaaaaaan. I'm getting the white ps4, so I have to fire up the PS3 for beta. Fire it up and do some backups so I can clear off space and the next thing I know it's freezing upon boot!

OMG NO NOT NOW

I have to sit here with dread today until I get home and start debugging it. Sounds like there's some kind of recovery mode I can go into that might wipe my entire drive.

All those saves… Damn. The things I'll do for you, Bungie.

We're very close to release, so it's not unreasonable for people to get excited for a bigger slice and build up their expectations, but yes, anyone who played the Alpha and has followed the news (such as the IGN first coverage, or the Gamestop primer on content) should have a good idea of what to expect. We're going to be in Old Russia. We're going to have more story missions. We're probably going to have the same strike as the Alpha. We're going to have 2 more adversarial multiplayer maps, still playing Control.

People who are wondering why we're so excited might not understand that we would be similarly excited if Bungie just turned the Alpha back on. We just want to play in this world.
