They call it... "Mumbai Push". At least when they revealed that piece of concept art. Remember this is ~700 years in the future give or take the fall of humanity's highly advanced civilization somewhere in there.

This could now be called the Eastern Flood Zone which the map Rusted Lands is located in, since it looks pretty similar.

Most of this is pretty old stuff, though I think we've only had but a taste of the locations we will be visiting in Destiny's lifetime. I'm not suggesting that all of these places are going to be entire Explore locations over sub-locations, they could just be Crucible maps or what not like perhaps Twilight Gap. Or not even in the game at launch or ever, but it's fun to speculate. "Cosmodrome" is one of the places in the large area we looked at in the Alpha and will see again in the beta, within "Old Russia, Earth".

Clockwise, starting from Earth: Jupiter, Venus, Moon, Saturn, Mars. (
splotch to the right of Moon could be Phobos, maybe Mercury? could also just be a splotch
)

Interestingly, the top right symbol beside the Earth is not one of the 16 geomantic figures that the other 3 belong to on the chart as it doesn't really follow the 4-row active/passive binary pattern (top = fire, second = air, third = water, bottom = earth, each can be active as single dots, or passive as two dots), so it might represent both active and passive for each "digit", who knows. Venus: Amissio/Loss, Moon: Via/Way, and Mars: Rubeus/Red. These figures were also shown for each planet in the Alpha Lupi ARG a long while ago, though they were introduced with their "Day"(Diurnal) manifestations of Puella/Girl, Populus/People, and Puer/Boy, respectively, rather than their "Night" (Nocturnal) manifestations. This difference could possibly be signifying the arrival of "the Darkness"?

I'm the opposite. I'm so preoccupied with my new job I tend to forget there's a beta in a couple of days. I miss the time when it was all I thought about.

Well, if after the Beta they decide that they need to change a bunch of stuff, obviously the progress will be wiped.

Since this Beta is a bit later in production that most, there is a chance that not much will be changed.

This opens up the potential for the devs to allow people to carry over progress, or force people to experience the game from the beginning along with everyone else.

Personally, I prefer the latter option. :P

I'm guessing that the Rusted Lands MP map is based off the Chicago zone, so I would look at that map to get an idea of what Chicago will probably look like

I kinda think so yes. Mainly because if it's just the alpha + a bit more, it most likely won't offer much new info about the game. And I'm of the oppinion that we need to know more about the game at this point than what we actually know. Either Bungie have supreme confidence that the game is good enough that they can just release it with huge parts of the game being unknown to people, or they are simply doing a terrible job in terms of giving specifics about the game.

I could understand before the alpha when Bungie were being absolutely ridiculously cryptic with regards to the messaging for this game, but you honestly can't say that with a straight face now that almost everyone will have had a chance to get hands-on with it. Almost all the modes are there and you can get a good sense of how the game works.

You might want more content, that's fine, but don't pull the "we don't know what this game is" card because it just doesn't hold true anymore.
 
I want some surprises for the retail release, so I really hope the Beta is just the Alpha + a little bit more. I feel like we know quite a bit about the game, or at least as much as we'd know about any other new IP before release.

You'd be wrong. Rusted Lands is set in Old Russia. They said so themselves.

I'm not saying we don't know what the game is. I'm saying there are a lot of specifics that Bungie haven't talked about, specifics that really should have been answered a while ago imo.

I mean, we haven't even gotten a confirm/deny about something as simple as whether or not your character will actually speak (that one line from the 2013 trailer means there probably is, but why won't Bungie just confirm it? This applies to other things as well of course).

And the alpha honestly didn't offer much new info for people who had read interviews. The alpha helped put the things that Bungie had talked about into context, but it didn't offer much new information about the game.

Will this game have guilds/clans? Haven't really kept up with this game but last I heard, Bungie recommended players to create a "Group" on Bungie.net instead of in an in-game system. Is that it? Seems really bizarre for a game like this to not have a guild system.
 
I'm fucking excited for this beta. When do bungie release the actual keys for downloading the client? Is it on the 17th or earlier?

I'm confused. Got the email with a link says "choose your platform", I click on it, go to Bungie.net, it's my profile from 5 years ago I used to put my initial code in....but there's nothing. I'm in Redeemed Codes and there's two lines saying offer/platform/code and below it says no results. Twice. And then on the right it says redeem more codes here.

I mean, if I put the code in wrong in the summer that's fine, I'll call Gamestop up and have them send me a new one. But they sent me an email saying go here to choose the platform but there's nothing there.
 
That interview was a little disappointing, it seems there isn't really much that's new in the beta (other than the MP maps, which I'm not interested in).

It's not unknown. Visit their site, read the OP or do a quick web search...codes are mailed to players at 10am Pacific on the day that their system of choice goes live.
