Games you remember, names you don't

Need help trying to find a steam game. You play as some type of alien goo creature held captive in a human laboratory. Your goal is to escape captivity. The game is played is from a 2d side scrolling perspective with 2d sprite graphics.
I was going to suggest Puddle, but I'm pretty sure it's 3D with 2D gameplay...

Unless your thinking of World of Goo, I have no idea.

I need help finding the name of a game that has started many arguments in my friend circle.

There was a game that was announced around E3 2005 or 2006. I believe it was for Xbox 360. From that day I always called it Rage, which apparently was like 2-3 years prior to Rage being announced, which is what causes the arguement because I refuse to call it anything else and my friends do not remember it.

It was a short teaser showing a dark and gloomy building, and eventually an old man comes into frame and begins talking and telling a story. I always called him a monk because he wore a bowl shaped hat that I always compared to the one Raiden wears in Mortal Kombat. I recall there being like tokens or something dangling from the hat.

It's an awful discription and I cannot find the game. Can't even find the teaser now. I refuse to admit that I am making this up and if anyone can help me, I know Gaf can!

Well, sure sounds like Rage :). The first reveal teaser was in 2007, showing the "bowl hat" guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4KmyJixwdk

Maybe you're thinking about Paradise Lost: First Contact, an upcoming kickstarted and Steam greenlit title that's due fall this year.

That's the guy but what I saw was earlier than 2007. It was pre-ps3. I remember seeing it and was extremely interesested in it and thought it was a 360 launch trailer. The trailer was shorter than that, it was focused only on the guy. Maybe I watched like a cut up trailer or something. I may be crazy. It just seemed much earlier. That's definitely the guy though.

Well, this teaser was shown at QuakeCon, August 2, 2007 when the game was officially announced but Carmack showed id Tech 5 at Apple's WWDC on June 11 that same year. This is the earliest reveal of anything Rage related that I remember (dude appears at ~1:38): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvuTtrkVtns

I don't remeber the name of a PC RTS probably released in the mid nineties. It was futuristic and completely in 2D and the most recognizable feature I remember it's that you had to use troops to drive the vehicles.

Another NES Ninja game. Recall that it was from an overhead / almost isometric view. Despite a ninja being the protagonist, there was almost no fighting. I remember walking around a garden in the first level, and needing to "attack" a raft to push it down a stream, in order to jump off of it to cross said stream. Timing the jump was also impossible. I think I remember running away from swarms of bees or something too.

Good luck!

Ha! This was a much better description that I could have ever given. I was thinking about the same game, but my description was way off! THANK YOU!!!

The Last Ninja played like that..

...and that was it indeed. Well done.

YES!! THE LAST NINJA!! I've been thinking about this game for at least 10 years. Thank you both so much!

There's this pretty old flash game I've played before, I guess around 8 years or so. It was some sort of Nintendo parody with Link as the main character. The graphics were pixelated and battles were really 8-bit RPG like, it even had a completely black background. Despite the RPG battles, the exploration was like as in a side-scroller, kinda like in Zelda 2. It had a decent amount of profanity, and there was some pretty lewd stuff in it as well--Link had sex with villagers to recover health for example.

You also started in a castle with Zelda sleeping or something, and the version I played was incomplete.

Ehrm, anyway, anyone has an idea to what this is? Any help is appreciated!

An arcade game where you control a bear through a maze using a huge track ball..

Used to play it at a local shop w/ my sister and father when we picked up some food there.

I remember something from my childhood, a game for PC - DOS era with black and white color, we play as a Knight or something. the gameplay is point/click (or maybe arrow keys?) or puzzle solving just like current Broken Sword but in forest/castle.

anyone remember something like this? :)
sadly "black and white" and "forest" is the only thing I sure/remember

I remember a game (from the late 90's I think, on a CD-ROM) where I controlled some kind of robot/mech. It was a topdown shooter/rts (but I only controlled one robot). You had power-ups and if I'm not mistaken I was not only fighting other robots, but also infantry (not sure if they were human). There was blood (some gore maybe) as well.

Could it be Ghost in the Shell? I remember playing this from a demo disc on PS1.

Don't think so. Going to go dig through my old PS1 demos and see if I can find it. Don't know if I still have it though. Even if I do have it there's a chance it might be to scratched to read :lol

Have no idea what your thing is :(

maybe Crusaders No Remorse?

Can you help me?

I'm looking for a PS2 (or maybe sixth gen) game, which is about a roman guy, who is avenging his family, after he made to be a gladiator. I've only heard about a game (on the school yard) I always wanted to try that game, but never had a PS2, and I can't remember the name. I've never seen to game, so maybe my description is not accurate.

Rygar?
it's a gladiator with Shield-like weapon
a little similar to God of War series

Either Gladius or Shadow of Rome, I would think.

Guys for years I've been searching for these games please help me find them:

1: they are all ps1 games and japanese, so the first one is music game where you copy the enemy moves, you are a boy who moves like a paper (it's not prapra the rapper) you battle a bee a fish a fly, he has a fly with him i think and in his house there is a sick grandpa and his mom, we go to a club where a girl is singing and we have to battle with a guy who drum on stage, that is all i can remmember, it is a game where you mimic the other dance or beat.

2:the second game is an rpg you and a girl and a boy the boy is tall and wears green i remember this because the opining fmv (i think was a cartoon) he was on a tree branch and hits his head when he stands, so the gameplay start in a village i think then there is a sewer with an enemy who is a fat guy on a tv that farts, there is a boss battle or a minigame where you swat flys from a cake or sandwich.

3:the thrid game is skating on a board on sand i know that is weird but i think the player hiar is blue, she colud be a girl that is all i remember from it.

Guys please help me find them :(

If anyone finds the first two I'll give him my club nintendo gold reward, I'm desprate here guys :,(

Found it. Turned out being Tail Concerto
Although it completely slipped my mind that the demo was in Japanese. Was part of the PlayStation Undergound Jampack 1998 Demo disc under the imports section

Very fuzzy memory: I think it was an Amiga game that had you playing as a rat(?) in a sewer collecting footballs and other trinkets while avoiding enemies, maybe traveling through pipes. I tried googling it with a couple of word combinations but came away empty-handed.

Not a rat, but it could be Steg the Slug?

Or the Amiga port of Round the Bend?

I'm looking for a Mega Drive game. I'm pretty sure it was sidescrolling beat 'em up where you played humans and the enemies were aliens or monsters. Different characters were playable, each of them having some sort of special attack to clear the whole screen. One of them looked like a huge boat or ship driving from left to right. It also had a co-op mode.

I remember when I was about 7 playing an arcade game at this little shop that was like 20 feet from my house. I don't know why I can't recall the title considering I played it several times back then at this shop that had one arcade machine that they'd periodically change every 2-3 months (other games I remember them having were WWF Wrestlefest, Sunset Riders), but I've wanted to know what it was for years. I even got up to the final boss which was quite the feat for me back then on an arcade game.

It was a sidescrolling shooter somewhat similar to Megaman/Contra but probably a bit easier. I think the character you played as may have been somewhat reminiscent of an Alex Kidd type but with guns/various weapons.

I really can't remember much more than that as it was 1994. Based on the other games I remember them having there, I'd guess that the game would have been at least a few years old by the time it was in that shop. I thought maybe it started with B but really I have no idea. Sorry for lack of useful info/details.

Alien Storm?

Do you remember anything about the game itself, genre, year, color palette? It sounds like it might be a point & click adventure but I'm not sure.

I can't remember what genre it was. The colour pallete was early 90s pixelated graphics. The main character riding towards the woman on his horse has a piece of fabric over his mouth and nose, like Strider.

The palace is white and so is the princess. There's lots of stars in the sky, but one happens to be a meteorite and blows up the entire place.

The man takes off his scarf and looks on in terror. It's the opening cinematic.

Conquests of Camelot, maybe?

Scroll right down to the versions that used B&W graphics adapters.

There's this one NES game I always think of but can't remember the title. About as specific as I can get was that it was cartoony art style (wasn't trying to be realistic like say, bionic commando) you got to choose different characters at different points in the game and it was really hard, I remember a lava level. I know that's pretty generic sounding NES game but for the life of me I can't figure which one it was.

It was a Sega Genesis game. You controlled a number of soldiers, in probably WWII era US attire. The perspective was was kind of overhead. Cartoony art style. You could assume control of any soldier and the goal was to kill all of the enemies on each map before they killed all of your soldiers. I want to say it was kind of a turn-based hybrid.

General Chaos? There was a failed kickstarter for a sequel a while back...

Gain Ground?

Yeah, I always thought it was Alien Storm, but the "smart bomb" I mentioned is pretty particular. I'm certain they don't have that in Alien Storm.

Are you sure? Each player had a different attack, I'm sure one of them was a ship flying over, on the arcade ver at least.

From Gamefaqs:

Karen's Special Attack: Missile
-------------------------------

A large missile drops down from the sky, followed by a splitting explosion that
clears the enemies on-screen.

Scooter's Special Attack: Full-body Explosion
---------------------------------------------

Scooter's body completely blows up and shards of metal fly in different
directions, wiping out on-screen enemies. The head is left behind, and a
replacement body runs on-screen, picks it up and places it back on the
shoulders.

Garth's Special Attack: Airstrike
---------------------------------

Garth calls on an air vessel that flies overhead and shoots down to take out
all on-screen enemies.

There was an NES (I think) action game where there were lots of demonic looking tentacle monsters and crazy bloody (?) violence. I remember there was lots of red, brown, and black. There were commercials for it on TV in the late 80's or early 90s. I can't remember what it was called.

In my childhood I once played this PS1 (horror?) game where you play as this boy with blonde hair who wakes up on this facility where he has psychic powers and he was a subject there and wants to escape to go find his sister. I remember fighting a director of the facility before I made my escape.

I remember a hotel area where I fight this fat kid who was setting people on fire without remorse.

And the final Fight of the game was this Computer (AI?).

The game was very Resident Evil like with 3D Model characters, pre rendered backgrounds, tank controls and generally creepy/scary back then.

I also remember trying to play the sequel on the PS2(or remake?)with a bootleg Japanese copy and I remember not knowing WTF was going on because the game started right before the final fight of the First game.

If anyone knows the name of this game/series let me know because I would like to replay that game and the PS2 sequel (or remake).

Sounds like Galerians.

Crystal Castles?

Hm. I would suppose yes because it meets all the criteria I mentioned, but I remember it being an overhead flat 2D view and much simpler graphics.

I was very young.. I almost remember the concept of wanting to play the game than the game itself. This is probably it though. I'll have to ask my sister.

Wow thanks for the info the game is indeed Galerians and the PS2 game is Galerians:Ash and they even made a CGI Movie Galerians:Rion looks like I got a game to add to my list of physical games to buy in the future.

I wonder how this game did back in the day because I never hear anyone mentioned the game before so could this franchise be counted as an obscure or hidden gem?

Platform: PS2

Genre: Role-Playing/Stealth

Graphics: Cel-shaded

I remember using a ninja and a big guy. I think there was a crow involved too.

Mark of Kri?

The sequel has a more slender character, probably what you're calling the ninja.
I didn't play either though.
