Yeah, I think he consults with them for ideas, but they don't tell him who is and isn't going in smash. He probably says "hey yo, who is popular? I think smash could be more exciting (aka sell more) if we put in some popular pokemon" He says it exactly like that, too.

This is what I figured as well. I'm also thinking that there's a "hold button" mechanic (think of holding Zelda's Din's Fire to make it travel farther) as well to cycle through the different levels of each magic. Normals are handled mostly with Bronze and Levin swords with the exceptions being the rapid jab that takes on attributes of the tome last held.

I think Gamexplain talks about this, and I agree with them that you don't see Robin charging any kind of attack while you do see him launching various power levels of the same attack.

I would agree with the Up-Wind, Side-Fire, N-Lightning, Down-Dark thing. It's just the power levels that doesn't seem to add up. And where does the book tossing come into play.

Also going by this new PotD's description, I don't think it means that you're able to do smash attacks in midair now.

I think by "You can even activate these moves in midair!", he just means that you can use the levin sword in your aerial attacks as well as smash attacks.

If aerial smash attacks were a thing, I think we'd have heard more about them by now and some people would have used them in the demo considering some people c-stick aerials, unless it's a very recent thing.

What if Mewtwo did not return, but his moveset did to some extent. Like it get's reworked into Giygas' moveset? They look similar, and I think Mewtwo's design was influenced by it. (So I've read). His Final Smash could be like how he looks in Earthbound / Mother 2.

Either way, would that be an okay move? Not another Pokemon, but a new Earthbound / Mother character?

But he is most definitely limited to what Game Freak/TPCi would let him use. It's why he says Pokemon are the hardest characters to work with in Smash along with the fact that Game Freak/TPCi are very protective of the IP, so they have a lot of say in terms of how they appear.

Seems like a lot of effort for little to no gain. I'm sure more people would be pleased with a Mewtwo return that this character.

Most people would prefer Mewtwo, giygas could work as a stage boss though.

There's no problem with having more Pokemon if that's what you're worried about, I think Mother/Earthbound is fine with 2 reps, but if they were to add another one Kumatora would be higher up on the list than Giygas.

Hell, Ninten clone of Ness would probably be higher than Giygas just because many people would think Giygas is unfeasible.

I think the telltale sign of a fake leak is going back to explain themselves when they're wrong, complete with a "You'll see, you'll all see!" comment at the end.

Not to say the entire leak was fake, but this guy clearly guessed at some things with incomplete information and now doesn't want to admit to that.

To be fair, an actual explanation as to why he had incorrect information could reveal more information about his position than he's comfortable with. And the leaker himself being anonymous, the only one with integrity to lose is Gematsu and Sal.

That being said, I'll agree that the leaker's last 2 messages have been rather suspect. Even before he got Chrom incorrect, he got which characters would be revealed when incorrect, both with Monday's reveal and his pre-E3 message, in which he (as I recall it) said that Chrom, Shulk and Chorus Kids would be at E3. He definitely knows something, as you don't get this far off of pure luck, and things are still looking good for Shulk and Chorus Kids (or at least some Rhythm Heaven characters). Makes me wonder why he presents the time of the reveal with equal confidence to the characters themselves, especially this time. Maybe he just felt he had nothing to lose?

Greninja isn't just popular because of a good design though, he's incredibly popular with competitive pokemon players as well (that's why I said extremely popular and not just popular).

Maybe gamefreak decided to make Greninja a better pokemon when they knew he was going to be in smash so they could push the character to appeal to more fanbases.

We're nearing the end of trailers which he's only doing for Newcomers PreRelease!
Both Melee and Brawl had several Newcomers that weren't known before Release, so you never know.

No, the second leak didn't say anything about the timing of their appearance. It came right before either a Direct or E3 though. It was the original leak that seemed to say that all 6 characters mentioned there would be at E3, but we only got 3.

Normally I'd agree with more characters, but looking at the selection of clones (dr mario, captain ganondorf, falco, young link, pichu, roy) the only one I'd be sad to miss is Falco. I like Ganondorf but Captain ganondorf is still a huge disrespect. I also really like how Dedede played and I think it would have been cool to see him in melee competitive scene

That's pretty much the impression I received. Probably reveled in the publicity for so long his ego won't allow him to fess up and admit he screwed up with Chrom. He could still be right about everything else, but he was clearly (and thankfully) wrong this instance.

IIRC the first forms were pretty well received. Second forms not so much so, except Braixen who was well received. (Largely because Fire/Psychic was hype at the time) Greninja leaked and people hated it cause of the tounge. Then the other two were revealed and suddenly Greninja was the best final evo.
