Guess Knuckles isn't gonna be in Project M after all...

What's up with that?

Huh. I doubt it's a separate trophy to the one that Sakurai posted. Maybe the trophies move around a bit? Like blinking or breathing?

I dunno - this is an enigma that I'm very excited to discover more about.

Hmm, since it's special trophy so it could be animated trophy like Kyle Hyde trophy.

So this was on the Rayman Facebook page:

What happened? The trophy is clearly different from the one posted by Sakurai monday.

Trophies animate maybe?

The trophy being animated was my first thought, hopefully that is the case. I wouldn't expect every trophy to be animated though.

The suit is still mostly similar to the way it looks in Other M though, it just doesn't look like it's made out of plastic like in the actual game (I still hate the peashooter though).

There's no way they can fix this abomination:

Just by changing a few textures.

And the Ridley in Sm4sh has the tail from Other M Ridley, I can't see him creating a hybrid ridley.

E: Fuck, I just got a good look at that image again. Fuck you sakamoto.

It'd certainly be a challenge, but for ZSS, the jet bracelets and heels were also considerable amounts of artistic license, as well as the generally increased muscle tone and different hairstyle. I think it's possible to take a couple of aspects from that thing and incorporate them into the real Ridley without ruining it.

I'm not a fan of Other M Ridley... but I think he'd be ok enough if they just fix the head. The body would still be bad, but the head is the main problem.

Final smashes are an item that appears on stage and floats around, as far as I'm aware they take a random number of hits to break and whoever lands the final hits gets an aura.

If they hold the move for neutral special then they'll use their final smash but if they get hid a random amount of times whilst they have the aura, they'll lose the orb and it will start flying around again.

The balance of final smashes are completely out of wack, ranging from terrible on already terrible characters (Ness & PK Starstorm), to overpowered on already good characters (Falco & Landmaster), which is why they're not really used that often in competitive play.

There's a stock mode where you have lives, a time mode where you have score, a coin mode where you earn coins for doing damage and KOs and the one with the most wins.

There's also a custom mode style thing where you can make everything slow mo or fast, make everyone invisible, give everyone stamina (HP) etc.

You can also do 2v2 games (with and without friendly fire) in all the modes (as well as 3v1 if you're feeling cocky).

Thanks!! :)

Hope this is the right thread to ask: Any adivce for first time buyers? I intend to get a WiiU for Smash, I've only played a few times...

Any tips or things I should know going in? The only closest experience I have is PlayStation All Stars lol.

I'm curious, what did people think of the initial X/Y starters when they were first revealed?

It was a pretty even split between all three, and when it comes to the base pokemon it probably still remains so

People guessed Fire/Psychic for Fenneking since the beginning

Grass/Dark or Grass/Ground for Fennekin

A bunch of people predicted a Dark/Psychic/Fighting circle for the starters, but predicted it to run opposite, so Fire had a weapon against Water, Water against Grass, Grass against water

Angle is slightly different, but there seem to be a few more differences like torso length.

Whoa, those are definitely different.

Is the second one perhaps from the 3DS Version? It looks a little more grainy.

Yeah, I think what makes it suck even more in my mind is the fact that Brawl's Ridley model was really good.

I'm curious... in the very same direct we got a very strong hint that Ridley is going to be a boss character in the Phyrosphere, yet I still see plenty of people confident on Ridley being playable... do you think Sakurai was trolling us there or somehow Ridley will be both playable and a boss?

There's more than one version of Ridley, my guess is that Other M Ridly will be the boss while Ridley from anotter Metroid game will be playable. Kinda like how Toon link and Link are the same character but not completely the same.

Also don't forget Ridley was off screen wereas the Yellow Devil who is also a boss character was given full screen treatment, so there's clearly something up with Ridley.

Of course Sakurai could troll everyone and pull other character from the Metroid universe.

Also, Adam would be a suicidal choice. He's probably the most hated character in the entirety of Metroid - though I guess Anthony would be a good choice for that sort of moveset. Perhaps if he's in the hypothetical Fusion sequel we'll never get...

Adam or the Deleter, would be my guess, if Ridley doesn't end up being playable.

The design decisions they made for the head make no sense at all. Who thought a beak and random head-fin-things were intimidating?

I don't mind the rest of the design aside from the overly-striated look of his skin/muscles.

That's definitely a good catch.
Playable characters do get multiple trophies...but they also usually have different poses on those trophies, so there's a good chance one's just an earlier version of the trophy.

Yeah, if it was a model Sakurai's team made that'd make sense...

But why would Ubisoft have two versions sent over? And which one is the newer one?

now we need the characters to have a little animation when you pick them

They already have increased throw knockback and fast fall shines from SSB64, having 3D models actually on the character select would be another good thing to take from that game (so would the dramatically increased hitstun but I hear people don't like 0-death combos).

But that introduces the problem of loading the characters on the CSS, probably better to just stick with portraits.

If it is animated rather than us seeing a beta(?) version of a trophy I guess it may be a special exception because it's a guest trophy.

One could be placeholder, maybe, and the other by actual Ubisoft artists? I dunno. Definitely odd.
Still hoping Ubisoft's co-operating because Travis Touchdown is in.

I don't think it's animated, look at the position on the trophy stand. He's in a different spot in each one.

I would rather take this Ridley than no Ridley, particularly because it means that if he's in subsequent Smash titles, he'll be remodeled.

He's at a different angle which would account for differences like the nose, mouth and hair, but not the eyes and torso. I doubt it's a different trophy as the pose is identical so it is either animated or we're seeing the same trophy from different stages of development which while odd is plausible.

Ubi only published No More Heroes in America. They don't really have much to do with it.

Another idea I saw was that perhaps this is a regional difference, one of the Rayman is for the international, the other is for the JP version?

Was the Japanese Miiverse Rayman trophy the newer, "cuter" one?
