I hope this game delivers on the hype.
I remember being excited for Brawl, and when I finally got my hands on it, I was really disappointed. It had a ton of content, and I mean A TON, it should have been any nintendo faithful's dream, but something about it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I got burned by Brawl by as well.
I remember watching an endless amount of Brawl gameplay videos on Youtube prior to release. At the time, I wasn't really that analytical with respect to the gameplay or the mechanics - I just remember getting excited from watching all of the new characters and such.
After finally getting the game and playing for just a few hours, though, I realized that something just didn't feel right. I was prepared for the game to feel different, but Brawl felt different in a way that just didn't feel right. I ultimately played the game for a total of ~20 hours before abandoning it altogether.
For years I thought it was just me, until I started doing some searching around 2011 and realized that many people had issues with the way that Brawl played.
I'm excited for Smash 4 - as someone who has been playing the games since the N64 version, it's impossible for me not to be. However, I distinctly remember how I felt about Brawl before actually getting to play it, and how all of my hype and excitement for the game quickly dissipated after just a few hours of play. I am therefore doing my best to temper my excitement for this game.
