Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Not a good buy at £30. They sell them through CeX for that much. The PS3 stick is somehow worse. If you've used other people's TE or similar sticks you might as well just wait for a price drop or decent offer elsewhere. Gameshark.net were doing the Pro sticks for £40 the other day, that was a good deal.

When I'm on the lookout for a new stick I tend to just refresh here every day or so to see what's been traded in. Buyer beware of course, I had a Hori Tag 2 stick sent down from their Glasgow store that had seen better days. Thankfully returning it was easy enough.

Thanks for the info, I've never actually played using a stick. I'm more just dipping my toes in to see if I even like the sticks.

Gonna check that link now, thanks again

Hori 360 ex2 a good stick? I can get that for the same price as the wireless tekken one

EX2 is bad. And the PCB fails often. Happened to me and Dacocoabrova over in the old thread.

2008 was a weird year for fightsticks. The following year we finally had HRAPs in the west and of course, Madcatz TEs. They really stepped the game up., and we all found out what we were missing, lol.

Hey I was looking at getting a cheap fighting stick for playing some fighting games casually(maybe get more serious eventually) on PC such as SF4 and Skull Girls. I don't want to spend too much so I was wondering what low budget sticks you guys recommend since I have no idea whats good and what isn't.

I've never had an issue with my ex 2.. It's not my primary , but my friends beat on it when they come over. I actually like the button feel on it for a cheap stick.

Check craigslist. Just picked up a ps3 mc fight stick te for 40 bucks... Not a bad price for a stick I'm going to hack..

You missed out on $80 fighst sticks by only 3 days.

I'm not sure what you would consider a budget stick though.

edit: post evo is the absolute worst time to buy a fight stick. demand is high, and the evo discounts are over.

Looks like I picked the wrong time to buy a stick then huh.

I could always just wait a while and keep checking for good deals I guess.

can I just say I'm having a blast with the Sammy SvC stick, I had all these damn ps2 fighters but only VF4 sticks. I'm using a Tototek converter to use it with the Saturn, too, and although the button layout for that is bizarre:
LP MP X X
LK MK HK HP
( since R2 and L2 aren't recognized by the Saturn)
it still makes Super Turbo more comfortable.

it's not sanwa grade. but not everything needs to be!

I wish that Tototek mapping wasn't so awful. What were they thinking?
I've heard that the total control converters for dreamcast have toggles for handling how L2 and R2 get routed. great if true - who plays fighters with a DC pad??

A: me, for all these years ;___;

Any tutorials out there for applying Vinyl Wrap to MDF? I'm working on a cabinet and would like to wrap it rather than paint.

I think you're best doing that, I was going to suggest joining the ukfgc Facebook group as every so often you'll have someone looking to get rid of their TE for about £60 or £70, though that will tend to be dependent on local pickups and stuff.

Gameshark have random good deals on madcatz every so often as mentioned above, though I get the feeling they've run out of stock of Pro sticks for the time being. Unfortunately the UK doesn't get much else in the way of promo codes at big events (though I'm sure MarkMan would love to fix us up if he had the opportunity).

No, not yet. The V4 comes out a month from today. I assume this will be the first PS4 stick available domestically.

Is there an "other platform" equivalent to this that has already been released that someone can give impressions of, or is it a brand new model? Or any impressions from someone who imported it from Japan? Ive only used sticks with Sanwa parts, and this is Kuro parts, right? Any impressions on the differences between those?

Also, I asked this in the SFIV thread, but this thread might be a better place to ask:

Does anyone know if that Ultra Street Fighter IV TE2 PS3-PS4 combo fightstick is releasing in NA next month? Or is it just Japan? Is it releasing in NA at all?

I'll be needing a PS4 stick by the time Xrd comes out, and that would be a good one to get. I'm also liking that most PS4 sticks coming out seem to be PS3/PS4 hybrids.

Does anyone have any experience with Korean fight sticks? Thinking of buying the mad Katz fight stick ke . Or , should I just mod my sf4 arcade stick with a octagon gate and baseball bat it?

You can just buy the Americanized Crown stick by itself and install that in your current setup. I have one and enjoy it very much.

Ah thanks for the response, I heard about it being too small to be played in ones lap though, so that might be a deal breaker for me.

No problem. A lapdesk or a big, hardcover coffeetable book should do the trick though if you want to place the stick on your lap I think. I tried it with my Gurren Laggan art book I has out, was fine though I ended up placing it back on the footstool I was using (I sit on the floor in my room).

Anyone have an empty stick shell to sell? I have extra parts and a pcb and I'd like to make one for my friend.

I've got an HRAP3 shell around, if you don't care about the missing space on the top left. PM me. Shipping is probably going to be a pain, but I'd like to get it out of here.

Is the 'Hori EX2 Xbox 360 Arcade Fight Stick' any good?

Can get one for £37 but not sure if its any good.

Also will it work on PC?

Edit: There is also the HORI PS3 MINI 3 FIGHT STICK for £35.

I got a bunch of sticks that made their debut at EVO 2014. Including these 2... More pics later ;)

Neither of these sticks are really good choices for serious play. The EX2 is bottom of the barrel as far as 360 sticks go (feels cheap, breaks easy). The mini 3 isn't much better, and has the gimmick of being tiny for the sake of being tiny on top of that.

Markman when can i throw money at u for the ps4 stick. I missed out on the evo ver of the pro and will forever be sad about it

Everyone that saw the Persona 4 Ultimax stick in person... commented about how much better it looks than that grainy picture released awhile back. *u*

Well I still havent repaired my Fighting Edge stick yet as I'm in a weird situation right now and I dont know what to do. Pretty much, I want to do a select mod on my stick. This would be of no problem if I repaired my FE as the problem is just the USB cable. The problem factors in with the fact that I also want to mod one of my sticks so that it works on 360. So a select mod and a dual mod. With the FE stick a problem occurs because of the touch panel and losing functionality in all but the start and select buttons. The button config that wouldve allowed me to do this would then be gone, no longer allowed me to do the select mod. My other stick a HORI UMvC3 stick has no select button like most madcatz sticks and instead the select button is a small button next to the PS home button. So even though I'd be able to dual mod that stick a select mod also isn't possible.

Am I missing something, or is it simply impossible to do both a select mod and a dual mod on one of my sticks?

We have a great sale on the FightStick PRO right now in the UK: http://store.gameshark.net/Arcade_Sticks/291

So I have an Injustice 360 stick I got for 30 bucks in a bundle with the game. It's the first stick I ever owned and I want to know where its at as far as sticks go, barometer wise. The stick and buttons feel a little loose and I think the gate is only a 4way? Whats a decent upgrade for around 100 bucks?

Hey Mark, can you tell us when the USF4 TE2 stick is coming out? I can't find a date for that when I looked. Or you guys still not ready to say?

Got my Razer Atrox today. Terry now has a new home.

I need to order me some new buttons to slap in there, thinking of trying those GamerFinger buttons, but they seem awfully expensive. Anyone here have experience with those? Really interested in them.

I added the GamerFinger HBSF-G2 (x6) buttons to my Atrox, and also swapped in a Hayabusa.
They have the standard Cherry MX Red key switches.

I like these buttons. Really quiet and responsive.
Hard to compare these to any other buttons, because nothing else feels like them.
I might get another set of six in white or crystal, to add to my PS3 Fighting Edge.

Things to take note of:

If you are used to the loud tapping sound of Sanwa OBSFs, it may throw off your rhythm.
I had the plunger pop off two of the buttons, during hard, rapid pressing in succession.
They are a bit of a tight fit when first installed, so be careful.

i'm debating whether I should convert my TE-S into a hitbox stickless stick or not (with an extra up button like a WASD layout in addition to the usual hitbox up)... dammit

Sup. Really good. A little more tension generally but are still solid. Keyboard switches last very long. Most people are fine with red switches because its closest to a light press, black for harder straight forward tension, brown for a somewhat Seimitsu approach and blue for the clickys.

I love my clicks!

As for problems. Outside of the installation, I never had issues!

It's impossible to get a cheap 360 stick in Dublin. Been looking everywhere. Importing for 200+ just isn't an option right now.

Gotta stick to controllers for usf4 I guess.

Hey...

Did you check Mad Catz or Arcade World? Hopefully the shipping price to Ireland isn't too bad.
