yeah but this is the ruleset, not the tournament format, there's a difference here (i.e. Bo1, single-elimination, etc.)
(and I think it's FFA w/ items on)
I don't see a Ridley is too big joke.
4 Player FFA best out of 1 with the final game being 1v1 no items best out of 1.
If they're just letting anyone join they don't have enough time to actually do a proper tournament.

Clothing aside, I think what really makes Lucina's design work is her color scheme. Nothing really seems out of place. The shades of dark blue go together so well. Usually when you layer "dark on dark" there's the risk of it all blending together, but here it just works.
It doesn't look like characters live any longer than Brawl to warrant taking it down to 2 stocks.
Sm4sh is probably just going to end up being 3 stock 6-8 minutes unless the game turns out to be crazy fast with long hitstun with 0-deaths everywhere like smash 64

Oh, another thing related to FE4, it's the first game to introduce the 'children take up the cause of their parents' and the generational inheritance thing. It was just implemented, uh, for different reasons than FEA handled the whole thing.

I find it very hard to believe that FE would get two more reps just because the last game sold well whilst DK gets no new reps despite the last two games being much more popular and better selling. DK is either going to get K. Rool or Dixie.
And I will suck all the dicks if Ri- I mean I'd be very surprised if Ridley isn't in.

Haven't kept up with the metagame at all in any way though, only have a vague idea of what's going on
I think for Baton Pass there were some really crazy Baton Pass abusers throughout the tier making crazy BP teams
Mega Gengar had not too do with killing a huge amount of pokemon or being a broken sweeper, but rather being a broken support pokemon, able to selectively kill 1 or 2 pokemon on your team, which may have been the only counters to your Azumarill on your team, etc.
Mega Luke had to do with being screwed if you guessed Swords Dance or Nasty Plot or other sets wrong and being possibly devastated + just being powerful
Swagger had to do with swagger teams centered around Klefki and the fact that without it these teams are crap and the fact that Smogon in general doesn't like the game starting to become a game of chance (fine with a certain level of it, part of risk/reward, but people were apparently winning out of ridiculous situations)
Mega Khan, both Deoxys too strong
Blaziken still had enough that got him banned last gen to do the same again (1st ban this time around actually), even with the new found ubiquity of SE priority (although at the time only Talonflame and Azumarill were used that much), plus even though no Sun the ubiquity of rain was gone
I think this is all what happened
EDIT: Oh, it was possible for Blaziken to use Baton Pass with Speed Boost this gen, and he's already extremely powerful for a speed booster, especially when compared to the other two speed boosters that can do that, Scolipede and ninjask (Ninjask i actually really tough to use and situational these days for most teams)

Don't worry, the Smogon rules mean very little since the official rule set uses doubles.
