Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 10: Against the Odds, We Choose to Hype!

Huh, didn't know Anth0ny is Canadian.

You really can't wait an extra month before playing Smash?

Someone needs to us all the details when the game comes out in Japan. Or the street date get's broken like a week before and someone just tells the internet everything.

Portable smash to learn the basics of the game.
And hopefully be able to unlock all the characters in the wii u version automatically.
HD smash for fun and glory!

I'm pretty satisfied as a whole with the new character additions. (I'm assuming Chorus Men and Shulk are in the game as well) Not counting series veterans I want to see back, the only Nintendo characters I'm really hoping for at this point (in game or as DLC) are Captain Toad, K. Rool / Dixie, Ganon, and Ridley.

Palutena's specials still have strong relationships between one another. And they will all be locked within particular input options, so it won't be too different.
This.

Palutena is considered a special case just because her custom specials are not just power/speed/elemental variants from the default ones

Maybe his internet will break down for a week when the game comes out.

I wonder how the file size will be on the 3DS on Wii U. How big was it with Brawl on the Wii?

He'd still get to play before any of us, outside of Japan is 3 weeks after iirc.

As for Brawl, that was ~7.4 GB with SSE, so I'd suspect 3DS to be about half that at most

I'm still sad that the 3DS version only has two tracks per stage.

The ridiculously diverse and customizable soundtrack of Brawl was one of its biggest strengths, to me.

Spoilers for what.
Actually with the Brawl Dojo, the thread was kept for those who wanted information only from the site rather than the game (remember it wasn't a universal release) so when this game comes out we will likely have a similar only PotD info in this thread policy.

Sakurai wants to spoil the game himself.

Take that, internets!

I don't own a Wii U.

Actually, most people who own a 3DS probably don't own a Wii U.

Not to be a contrarian, but that's not quite how it works. In fact, I'd say the opposite.

Considering those who own Wii U's are likely core Nintendo fans, I'd bet that most who own a Wii U own a 3DS.

The userbase numbers themselves don't really have anything to do with the overlap.

Who here doesn't own a Wii U yet but is going to buy one when Smash comes out? Just curious as there's more people than I thought only getting the 3DS one.

...What?

I just said most people who own a 3DS don't own a Wii U. Why are you talking about people who own a Wii U likely owning a 3DS? It has nothing to do with my comment.

I owned a Wii U, but I sold it about a year ago. I'm going to rebuy one either shortly before the Wii U version comes out, or with the game if there's a bundle.

And also the F-Zero stage I desire, a bar room brawl filled with other racers.
It's not like the Captain is known for racing these days, he is however known for brawling.

I didn't even know I needed this so bad.

Is it sad that I'd be willing to pay for that as DLC if it's not there day 1?

I totally would, but I don't know if that makes it less sad or not. All I know is that it's possible we won't get an option like that; it'd just turn "For Glory" mode into "Star Fox & their Friend Little Mac."

I would pay for DLC songs if there'll be one.
I blame Theatrhythm

If it gets us Melee-tier music, I'm totally down for the right price. I still listen to Smashing Live! to this day, so if it comes with MP3 downloads, I'll be there day one! Brawl's OST was okay, but after Melee's 90% orchestrated soundtrack, Brawl's MIDIs felt weak, and the main theme, one of the only 3 songs using an orchestra/choir that come to mind, wasn't really all that good/hype. I know My Music was the cause for some of that, pushing the soundtrack to almost 250 songs, but I'd be down with paying for quality, live music ala SM3DW and MK8.

Rhythm Heaven music post!
Going to assume there aren't any licensing issues with Tsunku. I mean, Dreams Come True had to have given permission for Green Hill Zone to appear in Brawl, so these sort of music negotiations wouldn't be unheard of for Smash. Plus, I'd be surprised if folks at Nintendo aren't already working with Tsunku for the next Rhythm Heaven game. Anyways...

Series Victory Theme: Superb (or the version from either other game, I just found this one first, heh)

3DS Stage BGM:
Remix 6 (Rhythm Tengoku)
Remix 10 (Rhythm Heaven)
Picking the medley remixes kinda feels like cheating, but I guess it makes the most sense to cover the most ground when there are only 2 songs available. We've already seen a couple medley tracks in the 3DS version, too.

Wii U Stage BGM (going to limit myself to 2 tracks per game):
WISH ~ Can't Wait for You (Rhythm Tengoku)
Super Tap (Rhythm Tengoku)
Game Select 2 (That's Paradise) (Rhythm Heaven) (also Classic Mode Ending)
Munchy Monk Circus (Rhythm Heaven)
Karate Man (Lonely Storm) (Rhythm Heaven Fever) [JP]
Micro-Row 2 (Rhythm Heaven Fever)
Title Screen / Tutorial (Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan)

oops how did that last one get there
Anyways, I don't really know what makes for a good variety of stage songs, and Rhythm Heaven doesn't really have any songs of greater importance than others. Mostly I want to talk about Rhythm Heaven music because it's cool and rad.

People will buy Wii U's specifically to play Smash 4. It's the game a lot of people are waiting for.

I would assume most hardcore vidya gamerz that are sitting on the U fence are waiting for Smash and Zelda.

Ahh Smashing Live!, still one of the best game orchestrated album for me. Especially this Pokémon Medley.
