I disagree. It has that addictive drive that Halo has that hooked me for so many years. Competitive ranks will only further prove this.

I've seen a broad range of criticism for this game (mostly relegated to PvP, as it should be), but never once have I seen someone accuse this game of having manufactured hype.

yes and no

When I look at Destiny I see it as Bungie's way of saying, "hey were for the most part done, with going big on MP stuff, but that doesn't mean we won't stop doing it"

It needs balance. A nice amount.

I barely played Halo in multi or any console shooter for that matter, but I agree. The PvP has quickly grown on me even if my timing is completely off so far. This will be the first shooter in which I invest serious time in it's multiplayer and I think I know why. In WoW, I grew bored of the raiding scene so I wanted to dabble in PvP. Sadly, the mechanics of the game were never designed for serious PvP in mind and it showed. Destiny offer a mmo (more like Guild War) experience with vastly superior competitive multi which is what I expected and wanted. I think I already prefer it's quicker pace to Halo and I like the enhanced mobility compared to most shooters out there. I can only imagine how crazy the crucible will become at level 20 with various abilities such as cloaked crouched hunters or titans acting as shields.

Me too don't want another repeat of the PS launch but I'm going to expect the worst at least for bungie's site. I don't know if there is enough people wanting to play on xb1 to crash xbl.

Also my alpha shirt is estimated to get here on Thursday. only took 4.5 weeks....

Well these people can suck a fuck. I'm not a FPS/online multiplayer guy at all and I think I'm in love.

The stats aren't loading so I can't post pictures yet, but here's what I mostly used:

Primary: Shingen-C Auto Rifle; Jigoku SR3-SL Scout Rifle; I had used a Jigoku SR3 before switching to the upgraded one and I liked its red dot sight better.
Special: Trajan-B Sniper; Pompeii-LR3 Sniper; had a Graviton ESm shotgun but never used it.
Heavy: Breaker SA/3 Rocket Launcher; Tamerlane-C3 Machine Gun

Now..this brings back memories of one of my only peeves with the game: those blocked off rooms.

You know, the rooms that look like they'll have some cool treasure in, but then are invisible walled for no reason other than to annoy you (Russia/Cosmodrome).

Bungie, pls put loot barrels in those rooms thnx, k by.

For those PS4 beta players...are there weapons that don't use ADS? Specifically is there a Halo style aiming mechanic for any weapons or upgrades etc?

Nope.

Though like I've said earlier, I haven't had too many problems using a Scout rifle and firing from the hip all the time in multiplayer.

You can upgrade the hip-fire on some weapons and there may be gear that increases its accuracy as well.

You can hip-fire with the Jigoku SR3 like a Halo DMR though. I'd say it's a 50% Bloom DMR.

Not quite, although there are weapon abilities that increase accuracy when firing from the hip. How much so, I dunno. And it'd mean trading off other potential abilities.

Yup. Tanking as a Titan and hip firing the Jigoku felt soo good.

Also, fun fact: Jigoku is Japanese for "hell." Jigoku = じごく／地獄

Thanks for the replies, so no Halo style scoping confirmed. Fuuuck, I personally can't stand ADS at all. Really. I'm sure I'll love the story/world and coop side plus I really look forward to diving into another Bungie game but I have zero interest in PvP with Destiny.

Perhaps the X1 beta will change my mind about Bungie ADS....

I wanted an upgraded version of this so bad. The SL I found had a really lame sight.
 
I don't understand why people think the MP needs balance? . What exactly is broken? I don't find anything cheap? Some games I get my ass handed to me, other games I get +20 kills just using my assault or fusion rifle. . I just wonder if the people who don't like the MP just didn't take the time to get use to it? . Maybe got overwhelmed and frustrated?





Or maybe they stepped into the Iron Banner with crap gear thinking this is just a game.

As I quote my new favorite announcer

I think it's the part I bolded. Either it's not like COD and they couldn't/wouldn't adjust, or they don't really play FPS and Bungie not explaining a lot about the Control mod didn't help things.

75% of the people I kill in close to medium range are aiming down sights while I hip fire...


Only time you should ads is when it makes sense, you should not be able to hip fire someone that is more than halfway across the map

My parents don't do it so I never started doing it. Well I do it in my head.... So I guess since i'm typing what's in my head, it comes out in text.

And it's kind of an expectations thing. My friends know I don't never do it, so it'd be weird if I did it in front of my friends who have known me for a while.
