NIS announces Great Edo Blacksmith for PS Vita

It should be more like Dark Souls.

You're a blacksmith, you just set up shop in the vague hope somebody out there hasn't given up all hope, when a customer eventually turns up you get them to do all the fighting and resource gathering for you while you spend time touching women and playing with your swords.

Everything about it sounds great. The other day I was jokingly suggesting it may be similiar to Recettear based on the promotion pictures, so I'm happy! Will have to take a look at the gameplay and art before I decide whether to get it or not, but at this stage I hope it comes over.

I was moderately interested in the premise. And then...
And there also appears to be some sort of woman-touching element. (Making original use of that PS Vita touch screen!)

Why the hell do they feel obliged to stuff this into every other game now. Is this the only use they can find for that touch screen?

The premise of the game sounds promising, too bad it'll never come to NA..

If Criminal Girls sells on the controversy of it I am sure this will get localized too. At least this sounds like a better game than CG at least.

It's how they market the games now and they know people will talk about it. I doubt they actually thought about the touch screen at all.

NISA is desperate for games to localize since they lost GUST and at least some of the Neptune games. I'd be willing to bet that this will be localized if it's even halfway decent, and maybe even if it isn't.

I hope this game is shit. I don't want to have to live in a world where my love of good game design and my dislike of porn games are at odds.

guys, the touching doesn't sound bad. Original use? Aren't you curious? Maybe it's not tasteless.

I'm pretty confident the game will be crap anyway. All in on original use touch mechanics.

I think most of the talent has left NIS in the last years. I could be mixing up some things but I think most of the staff of NIS we know currently works on Makai Ichiban Kan.

Good points, would be really nice for physical releases as well, but they just aren;t enough VITA's sold out west to support it. Either way, it they localize it, that would be great, so at least we have an opportunity to play it.

Tired of rubbing Virtual Girls, can we leave this for Morpheus/Occulus Rift?
Interested in the non rubbing part and the art style but due to the nature of this game i'm already in sceptical mode.

It's already to late then.

Are we talking original Vita JRPGs or also ports?

Original titles. I know the Atelier games are lighter on the fanservice (though they still have some), but it seems like everything original that is being announced for the system is an ecchi game.

No thanks, not every games need to be Dark Souls.

Sony certainly has a firm grasp of the otaku market.

Probably because that's their only market.

So many touching gimmicks with these games on the Vita. Do people really find these segments fun? I'd think you might as well go all the way.

Sounds kind of like an Atelier game, only playing as a smith dude in Edo Japan? Or...or am I forgetting how Atelier works? (I only played Rorona.)

Everything I could say has already been said for me in this thread.

It's not like there are many good original JRPGs on any handheld device.
*Durante equips flame retardant vest*

No need to equip that +7 crystal flame shield. You aren't really wrong. There were a good chunk of oriignal JRPGs that came out on the DS and some on the PSP but there isn't exactly a lot of them.

Do they even need to mention this about a Vita game? That's like mentioning there will be jumping in the next Mario.
I can't tell if people are joking anymore if they think all Vita games are like this.

I'm mostly in agreement with people calling fanservice games garbage though. I mean, without porn it's just pointless blue-balling. If Compile Heart would be making eroge for example I'd actually give a fuck. These games would finally have a goddamn Raison d'être.

That was my next point. Just make straight up porn if that was your intention.

Sounds like a fun game concept. I just hope the characters are drawn as adults in this one. *patiently waits for the first in-game images*
