Drawcia is the best choice for a Kirby villain because holy shit that laugh is amazing.

As for the new PotD... Meh. I can't wait to see how we get Pyrosphere on the 3DS too.
Oh man, I hope they at least try with the Metroid stage on 3DS.

If worse comes to worse and they can't be bothered, just bring back Brinstar Depths.

PotD: It's the Yellow Devil! And you thought the 3DS version was safe from his shenanigans and vaguely racist name! While you're bored to tears, don't forget that an update about Sheik, Darunia or Ruto in Hyrule Warriors will probably be far more interesting than anything my cat could dredge up on short notice.

Wow, this is legitimately disappointing. Pac-Man gets an exclusive stage to each version, but Mega Man only gets one stage across both... and it's one of the least fun, based on my time with the Wii U version at E3? Lame. :(

I hope Mega Man doesn't end up being the only third-party guest with only one stage... that'd be really shady. :/

murabito
rockman
koopa

oha and iirc rosalina is rosetta, robin also has a strange japanese name

huh, thought I tried rockman but I must've mixed up the letters and thought that was wrong. I really shouldn't be doing this after eighteen hours in lab...

screw it, time for bed. Thanks for the help all.

What if that's just the stage-master mode stage for Mega Man and we have yet to see the real stage.
believe.

Kinda sucks Megaman seems to only get that one stage when he has so much more potential for cool ones.

and bosses on stages are lame.

Sakurai owes us a character after this.

That is the tacit agreement signed in blood when Sakurai struck his name out of the Book of Life in exchange for eternal youth.

I didn't play on Wily's castle at Bestbuy. Was it really that bad?

At this point they should just rename the Metroid series the Lava series.

TBH, I wish it didn't. I woulda rather had Pac-Maze on both versions.

So I started this long ass post to make a claim as to why Daisy wouldn't have stood a chance at getting in Smash over Rosalina... but it kind of morphed into a more general discussion on Smash 4's roster picks as a whole.

If you wonder why popular fan picks like Waluigi, K. Rool, Takamaru, etc. were all shot down, it is because those characters just weren’t important to Nintendo and their games in the last few years. Like it or not, every newcomer that has been chosen for Smash 4 so far happens to share the same characteristic (another one is that they all make unique fighters) of having recently been put in the spotlight via high profile games in popular franchises. The exceptions to this rule are Mega Man and Pac-Man, but those two being 3rd party characters were chosen more on their relevance to Nintendo history and icon status rather than what they’re doing now.

Starting off we have Villager representing Animal Crossing which is a series that has quickly climbed the ladder to be one of Nintendo’s most popular IP at the moment. New Leaf was a big hit on the 3DS, and its not surprising to see it get a lot of nods here. Mii’s have been popping up everywhere like them or not, and Wii Fit being a hugely popular game makes the Wii Fit Trainer a relevant pick. Greninja, Palutena, (in her current incarnation) Robin, and Lucina are all popular characters that have come from the latest installments in their respective franchises on 3DS. With Little Mac I’m positive that the Wii reboot of Punch-Out!! is most likely to thank for getting him a playable spot on the roster while other classic characters like Takamaru are left out.

Long story short, some characters just aren’t going to make it into the roster if they haven’t done squat in recent Nintendo games. As much as I’d love to see K. Rool become playable in Smash, Dixie Kong will almost assuredly get in first thanks to her appearance in Tropical Freeze. (Although Sakurai may not have been aware of that game while he was planning Smash 4's roster) With F-Zero and Star Fox taking hiatus’ recently, I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see no newcomers from those series either. Coincidentally, rumored newcomers like Shulk and Chorus Men also follow this pattern that other new additions to Smash 4 do.
Mewtwo also is newly relevant thanks to X + Y but I'm trying not to get my hopes up for that one.

For all I know Bubbles from Clu Clu Land could be announced next week and toss my entire line of thinking out the window, but I just found it interesting that the roster seems comprised of characters that became relevant mostly between the end of Brawl's development and the beginning of Smash 4's.

It loses the imposing feel of the Wii U one, definitely not as good.

Random thought on this but considering the issues with Yellow Devil on this stage on the main WiiU version, i can't help but imagine that the Yellow Devil might have to be toned down a bit for the 3DS version considering the smaller screen size.

I sort of like Wily Castle 3DS because the colors remind me of like a Gameboy Advance Mega Man or something.

Punch-Out Wii wasn't a high profile game in a popular franchise.

It's also a bit silly to act like this is a rule based on the characters revealed now when previous Smash games had retro characters with zero importance in recent years.

hasn't even been posted yet on Sakurai's english account.

What's with all of the assumptions being treated as reality? Neither Takamaru nor King K. Rool have been denied yet. They have just as much of a chance as any other potential newcomer.

While it definitely isn't as good as the Wii U version, I don't think it's that bad. Nobody was really expecting it to look as good anyways. Still looks fun though, I'm sure I'll play there plenty because <3 Mega Man

It makes the most sense to show those off first from a marketing perspective to drum up hype. I don't think we'll solely have "relevant" characters. Sakurai will probably put in at least one legacy/random character too if tradition holds.

Punch-Out Wii wasn't a high profile game in a popular franchise.

That sentence probably isn't true for every character in or likely to appear in this game (such as Shulk) but I think you understand the point I was trying to make. That is, unless your going to argue that Punch-Out Wii wasn't a deciding factor on Little Mac getting into Smash 4's roster?
