I mean, I hate complaining as the games look amazing, but it's definitely a let down. Even though it was unlikely, I would've loved a Battle Network stage. The rushed% is real.
Haha, you've decoded the true message! My man Sakurai knows what's up!
I really hope the Pac-Man stage makes it over, as the Pac-Land stage looks atrocious. I'm hoping for a 3DS Stage DLC pack down the line, but I'm not sure if he'd do that as to keep the game more unique from each other.Eh, who knows. The assets look really similar, it wouldn't be hard for them to have added it in to the 3DS as well. I'd be a bit surprised, too, if there's no retro Pac-man stage on the Wii U version.
What stages are we hoping end up being cross-version?
Stages I hope get in both versions:
Pacman Arcade Stage
Pokemon Stadium 1
Dreamland N64
Finally...so 2 additional common stages confirmed. I wonder if these stages are there to be used for online matches between 3DS and Wii U versions.
Sonic better not get an exclusive 3DS stage or I will riot. Mega Man deserves better, Sakurai!!
On another note, does someone have a link to that height chart Neorice made?

Fuck you too, Sakurai. We didn't forget the Yellow Devil either.
I think one of Mac's screenshots at his reveal showed him in a 3DS version of the boxing ring, but we haven't had a proper look at it yet.

I'm playing while waiting for Smash 4, as it's sort of like having a new Smash to play, but the second Smash 3DS comes out I'm almost assuredly gone for good.M2K calls out Project:M
Context
Not that M2K had to do anything with it, but I personally haven't put much effort into P:M because I was leery of the the balance work that would be done by an amateur dev team and the fact that I run the risk of having that effort negated with character patches. The purported issues with recoveries and cheesing confirm that suspicion. Here's hoping the devs find a good balance down the line. I do like the concept but it seems it's being held back by bravado.
Good thing I never touched P:M.M2K calls out Project:M

What's with all of the assumptions being treated as reality? Neither Takamaru nor King K. Rool have been denied yet. They have just as much of a chance as any other potential newcomer.

You mean like every other Smash game was mostly made up of recently important characters? No, that's not a predication anyone was going to go against.I already stated in my original post that a new character could be announced that undermines my entire point by mentioning Bubbles. I'm merely making an observation or prediction on what direction Smash 4's roster is taking in comparison to prior games. However, even if such a character was announced it wouldn't change that a majority of the new characters happen to be involved in games released between the Wii era and Smash 4's development.
Maybe for a second, but Smash U's graphics alone are going to make it hard to come back to any of the older Smash games.you'll come back for a bit when they add new characters.
+1I really, really hope we can turn off boss encounters.
Wily's Castle has a decent layout and the Yellow Devil has too much of a spawn rate, obstructing everything. He's also fucking annoying going by videos.
The thought of Ridley ruining Pyrosphere makes me angry. That was the only reason that tease left me annoyed.
The hell is this all about? Did I miss a separate comment where M2K also says that playing P:M gives you cancer? P:M is imperfect and definitely has room for improvement, but it's still twenty times better balanced than Brawl ever was.Good thing I never touched P:M.
To be honest, a lot of the Brawl characters were already too gimmicky. Wario comes to mind; they butchered his Brawl character, but his Brawl character felt like a mess in the first place with the bike. One character (Pokemon Trainer) was outright ruined by his gimmick to the point he was one of the least popular characters in both casual and tournament play.M2K is right about the gimmicks. Melee characters made it almost undamaged, but oooh boy did the ProjectM team butcher the Brawl characters. They don't feel like their Brawl counterparts balanced to Melee physics at all, instead they just tossed out moves and replaced them willy-nilly or even replaced the entire mechanics the character was based on before. Horrible, just horrible. Those guys should stop butchering SmashBros and make their own game with their own characters instead.
I introduced a friend of mine to Brawl really recently. He's played Smash 64, and had just gotten Melee a few months prior and loved it (his gaming history has only been FPS and Kingdom Hearts for many years) and was playing it a ton. I brought over Brawl so that he could try it, even though I personally don't like it.
His first reactions were "this feels like walking through mud" and basically missed the speed of Melee and how it didn't "flow" as well. We made it a point to play through each and every stage, and we both agreed that there were simply too many stages that were almost unplayable. He even laughed when we tried 75m, saying that he could only laugh since it was so bad.
Now, his experience with Smash in general is obviously limited, but we sunk a good many hours into it, and he still came away with the same views you did. I know that doesn't make it THE stance on Brawl, but still. Those complaints keep popping up for a reason.

Getting rid of Wario's bike is a cardinal sin.
Also, you guys shouldn't take M2K's word as gospel just because he's a top player. He's been known to say some crazy things.
That's a good point.Comic-Con better have decent free Wi-Fi otherwise that'll be rather unfair on those without a dataplan (let alone no smartphone).
I don't think they should have gotten rid of it. I think they should have made it more fun to use as a bike and less efficient as a pile of parts to throw at your opponent.Getting rid of Wario's bike is a cardinal sin.
Cheers. I do think that its instantly noticeable for a lot of people. My brother, who only plays games when other people invite him to (but has played plenty of Smash) had no idea what I was talking about. I then put both games on back to back and he totally saw it then.
At the same time, he claimed he saw no differences but he was never as enthusiastic about playing Brawl as he was Melee. No one I knew was. And these are guys who get just as pumped for a game of Fifa after 25 damn years of the thing, so its not just age.
Really hoping the new one is good.
Basically what M2K says is that you need to be good at Melee or you suck. You can't like your own game, because it is not his game, so you suck.
That is all I've read and the intellect radiating from M2K didn't really encourage me to read on. I don't find it weird if this "criticism" is not taken seriously by both the community and the developers. (Although I do hope this rage is not representative of the person and that he actually gives constructive feedback once in a while.)
I don't get the hate that some Smash fans have over the WarioWare influence.
Wario Ware hate is a crime.
How so, Wario Land came first. ;3

I hope there will be a 'Nintendo Direct' Stage with Iwata Stage Hazard.
