Only reason you should be mad at the 3DS version is if the IC get cut.

Besides, didn't Sakurai say the 3DS version was the original one, and he was coerced into making a Wii U version?

I do not think this was the case.

Iwata did have to beg him to make Brawl or something like that.
 
Obviously, Judge Ridley's a clone character evolved from an alt.

Will definitely add you back. And I PM'd twilitesparklemotion to fix their code, so hopefully that'll be changed soon.

Yes, someone posted an article in one of the earlier threads.
Remembering the concept for the project, Sakurai told Puissance Nintendo: "While the development of Kid Icarus: Uprising was at its end, Satoru Iwata came me propose to develop the new Smash Bros game, and asked me if it should be on 3DS or Wii U. We arrived at a point where the series could not evolve, and we wondered if the handheld console was the solution. In the past, we have increased the number of characters and arenas, but this was not enough."

Sakurai added that Nintendo decided to release two versions of the game because of the limitations of 3DS. "At that time, we could have chosen to develop a 3DS version only, but we realised the presence of several limitations. I am referring to the fact of playing a game like Super Smash Bros on a small screen. Thus, even if it is not easy to develop two versions simultaneously, we chose to adapt the game experience to the specifications of each platform."

Very interesting, behind the scenes Smash development is one of my favorite game related things to read up on.

Very admirable design process behind these games, and Sakurai is always sharing cool bits of info.

man the public demo builds are broken as fuck, more than I thought, I made the WiiU version freeze after nailing Mega Man's fs. And well the 3DS version haha, we couldn't even choose any particular stage, it had to be random or the game would crash :p

Also, equal amounts of hype over Murasame Castle making it over! I legitimately have no faith in the Virtual Console right now, so the fact we're getting previously JP Exclusives over here in America again (Lost Levels doesn't count by this point...) is really great, and I always wanted to try this again! I'm still fearing Takamaru's not in, but I'm definitely confident that something's happening to the IP, and of course, there's still a chance that we could see Takamaru's big return alongside the Smash roster; Pac-Man's more an Namco throwback, and Mac's modern again, so none of the newcomers feel "retro" ala Pit & the Ice Climbers to me yet.

Unless this is how we get playable Ridley, that is:

What did you expect from a demo version?
 
Sakurai better put Takamaru in Smash, or I'll write a guest piece for some website saying Sakurai is racist against the Japanese

I didn't expect anything, I'm just sharing my experience, sorry if I offended (?) anyone or sounded clueless. I'll share my actual impressions later tonight anyway.
 
Sakurai saw the limitations of the 3DS and thought to make a Wii U version as well after deciding to do a 3DS version only.

Well damn, we were almost stuck with just 3DS only , a true crime

Always wondered how she pulled off the marth look with her hair. Neat.
 
No! Because then Takamaru won't have a chance as a DLC character if it happens. D:

Yeah! This is why I was disappointed in Dillon/Waluigi's AT's/Wonder Red's already-there trophy (I merely lurked back then). Here's hoping Takamaru has a shot! Him and/or Mach Rider.

That doesn't look physically possible to do, all that hair has to go somewhere unless she braids it extremely tight, almost to the point where it would be painful.
 
But didn't you see that leak from the other day? He was a dictator during Brawl's development!

I realize that the "leak" was probably fake, but based on the very little insider info I do have, the claims that Sakurai was pretty demanding during Brawl's development might not exactly be too far from the truth...

Right, the same way we don't know the exact size of the development team. I really hope they do an Iwata Asks for both games, would be interesting to find out some of this stuff. Did Masked Man ever translate any of Sakurai's other Famitsu articles?

Unfortunately I haven't had any time (sorry!), but I'm hoping to translate an article today while I'm still away from work!

Not sure if posted before. I think its awesome.
