Ultimate Spiderman(Miles Morales) is a lot fucking better than I thought it would be. So much happens within the first 20 volumes it is absolutely insane. I would honestly rather them make a movie of this origin instead of rebooting spiderman

99 cents for a month?

Sweet. And your subscription ends after one month automaticly or...?

Edit oh I see, nevermind

It's really dumb how hard it is to find comics in any sort of order on this service. I guess it's that authentic comic-book store experience but I'd rather just be able to read things in order.

Yeah, this is my biggest gripe with the entire web site and app. Marvel should really offer some kind of beginners guide to their universe with suggestions of reading order.

I started reading Thor (1998-2004) and I have no idea what to do after that. Avengers from the same era, something else...

Yeah, one of things keeping me from comics was the backlog. I'm enjoying the Marvel Unlimited sub. One thing I would recommend is Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men run. I love X-men but it's a very solid arc regardless of X-men fandom. From there, I've found just some Googling " *comic book character* best story arc/run" works well for figuring out things.

I read that Astonishing X-Men is a continuation of Grant Morrisons New X-Men so I plan on reading that next, I hear it's great.

Oh wow, comics are FINALLY full-screen on Android tablets now. (I'm not getting cropping, either.)
I can't believe it took that long for them to take the hint but I'm subscribing now.

Oh, and speaking of Comicon promotions in comics apps, Comixology is having a huge Batman sale right now. (several hundred issues for 99 cents each, spanning 1938 to 2013)
The chopping only happens on older books with smart panel. It works fine on most of the newer ones.

Holy shit navigation in this app is horrible.

Nothing is easy, it's like they hate you for reading their comics.

Good deal though.

Another reason Comixology is a better experience. (except for your wallet) When you finish a comic they give you a choice between 'Next In Series' or 'Next In Story Arc'. 'Next In Story Arc' lets you just effortlessly go through crossovers in the correct order.

Oh, I only do full-page unless I'm on my phone. (which is almost never)

Could someone do me a favor? Could you try to read Black Panther #1 (1998). Pages 5-9 are missing when I try to read it on the website. And on the app it gives me an error when it tries to download it.

Same pages are missing when I load it with the android app.

I'm finding mobile web site far superior to app, at least in stability part. I even deleted MU app from my iPad and now 'm reading only comics only on website.

The main problem I have on both is that sometimes, when you tap/click "next" (to go to next chapter in series), sometimes it skips 3-4 chapters.

For example Thor (1998-2004), chapter #10 is followed by chapter #14. I had to google chapters #11-13 and lo and behold, they do exist on marvel's pages, but marvel doesn't think it should offer them in a single series.

Seriously, they should work on the way they sort stuff, it's incredibly messy.

seems like it doesn't like my Skrill pre-paid credit card

"There is a problem with your billing address.
Your card is being declined. Please try another card or contact your bank for more information."

unfortunate :(

Just be careful guys, if you make an error when trying to register for the 99c subscription it will change the plan type back from 99c monthly to a $99 yearly subscription when it reloads the page.

Going through the list in the OP, I've found that some of the comics have pages with blank dialogue bubbles, or ones with no background (and thus very hard to read). Is this a problem on my end or is Marvel just not great at scanning their comics?

There are all kinds of glitches with the comics some times e.g pages are in the wrong order, speech bubble contents are missing, are wrong or are just ******.

Last time I used this service they were missing random chunks of issues in runs like Ultimate Spider-man and Spider-Girl and the Android app was absolutely dreadful. Plus I think the 6 month new issue delay, while reasonable, is still annoying as shit. I'd rather all Marvel's new issues cost $1.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
so I found this site that seems to have really good recommendations for comics to read on Unlimited

Best Comics Available on Marvel Digital Unlimited
This has links to a bunch of the best arcs for books, from all of Marvel's history, that are available from unlimited.

Complete Marvel Reading Order Guide
Goes into the recent crossover events and a few of the modern solo books, telling you what order to read issues in chronologicaly. It mostly talks about the stories in the form of trades, but also lists the issue numbers. May be some issues missing from Unlimited, though.

Modern Marvel Universe in 25 Trade Collections (2000-2012 Fast Track)
Seems like these are the stories most important to shaping the overall continuity since 2000.

I've got a question about the auto-renewal and cancelling my subscription. I don't intend to continue my subscription next month but I'm worried that I'll forget to cancel it. On their cancellation screen it sounds like I can cancel it at any time but I can still continue to read comics until the end of my subscription term, is this true?

Yup. Tried it for a month last year and accidentally payed for a second month. Cancelled immediately and kept access.

FYI to all the new people signing up I cancelled my subscription a few months ago and Marvel continued to charge me despite no longer having access to the service. Took me a couple emails and a angry phone call to get them to stop charging me and give me my money back.

Damn. I will keep a close eye on it.

Does unlimited just shit the bed past a certain point at night? It's two nights in a row at the exact same time things just grind to a screeching halt entirely. I realize I'm only paying a buck but if things were smooth I'd consider keeping it.

People who've read modern Cosmic Marvel might be laughing at me right now, but goddamn Dan Abnett is awesome. And I'm just getting started with Annihilation: Conquest.

Is there no way to sort the comics within the app? I'm so used to the Comixology app that I just assumed there would be some type of sort feature in the Marvel app. It's basically based on what you last added to the library which is really irritating.

Sooo yeah...I'm in the middle of reading Thanos (one issue to go, actually) and it seems Unlimited just isn't working at all. For any titles. Does this happen a lot? Been trying for 15 minutes to just get to that last issue and nooooope. Page either wont' load or if it does load it gives an "oh no" error message saying the page can't be found.

The reliability must be all over the place. I've been reading MU all morning and not a single glitch. How's your connectivity?

I hate how availability is all over the place. I understand there being a 6 month buffer on recent comics. It's dumb, but I get it.

So why are there random patches where entire books from a decade ago just stop?

This service leaves a lot to be desired.

The only thing I've run into is one time it only downloaded the first three pages of a book. I backed out, downloaded it again, and it was fine the second time.

I've been catching up on Guardians of the Galaxy with the movie coming out. Read through all the 2013- current stuff that was available, which isn't much but...6 month buffer. Fine, whatever.

So I went back to the 2008 run during the secret invasion and all that stuff thinking that all of that stuff surely would be up. Get to issue 23, boom, nothing else has been put up; this comic line is 4 years old.

Sucks man, I subscribed to this thing in order to have a nice light weight method of staying up to date on comic stories and it can even get me caught up to the big story arcs.

Miles Morales is the second best Spider-Man. Really great run so far.

I'm about halfway through War of Kings, and they've had everything so far, even the "War of Kings Saga" which is basically a sum-up story of the last couple of years of Cosmic Marvel (at that time).

So...here's what I'm getting half the time

gttg1ek80.jpg

And the other half it shows up.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that the webmasters for unlimited never removed the duplicate entries for when they weren't available, and the sudden influx of new members is making everything go nuts.

Made into the War of Kings and the app is missing several books from the Cosmic Marvel chart (unless I'm just not finding them).

I can't find:
War of Kings: Darkhawk #1-2
War of Kings: Savage World of Skaar

Also, there are 4 different runs of War of Kings: Warriors #1-2

For now I'm just skipping right to GotG vol2, #8-17.
