Nintendo Downloads - July 2014

Already have Super StarDust on PS3 and Vita. Don't need more :P I'm not really clear on what you do in Pushmo. Just pull blocks to climb to the top? Sounds like Catherine :lol

Something like that, but instead of happy boobs you have this sexy babe:

In all seriousness though, it is a fun game from what I've seen. One of the main features to me is that the players can create levels, so it is probably endless, and you can play those 3DS levels on the Wii U too (but not vice versa, IIRC).

Just reminded me of one more reason to buy a Wii U this Christmas.
Why wait best buy has Black Friday in July right now, $260 for a WiiU with NSMBU/luigiU combo pack. Get that, head over to Target pm Mario kart 8 at Amazon for $48 and get the $1 dollar preorder card to get another $15 off kart and get Mario Kart 8 and your choice from 4 games for ~$35.

So that is a Wiiu and ~3.5 games for just under $300 before taxes

That sounds like a pretty damned good deal.

Will check it out. Thanks.

I thought I'd give a quick recommendation for Sky Peace on 3DS, it looked cute and since it was only $1 I figured it couldn't hurt giving it a shot.

The best way I can describe it is that it's like a shmup without shooting. You fly through stages collecting coins and treasures and dodging enemies. You create a chain combo for continually collecting coins and not taking damage. There are also a few items like shields to adsorb a hit and tornadoes that increase your speed and knock out any enemies during the initial speed boost.

It's pretty bare bones, but it's fun and a real arcade style game where you are constantly trying to better you score in each stage. And the achievement system is a really treat as well. It's got a hearty number of achievements that make you play through the stages in a variety of different ways, such as only moving up and down, not reaching max speed, etc. The achievement descriptions also indicate a few other secrets may be hidden in the game that I didn't catch in my initial play session.

One American Dollar, ya'll.

Any Japan gamers download the free Denpa Men?
Curious to know how much of an actual game it is and what the real money purchases are, if there are any.....
I reviewed it. The game is or would be excellent but you pay for jewels to use to continue and the game does everything it can to kill you off in boss battles so you need to continue.

Yuck. Genius Sonority was never a particularly great developer to begin with but the last few years have been nothing short of disappointing. Denpa Men was a cool concept for one game, not four. It's sad that they took the games' lukewarm reception as a sign to make the fourth one F2P instead of doing something new.

Please, Pokémon Company, give these guys something proper to work on.

Why would you want a company that is constantly disappointing you to work on Pokemon? That would just be a reason for them not to do it. (Although I personally like Denpa Men, and dislike their Pokemon RPGs.)

I guess the argument is if they have someone overseeing them then they are able to deliver decent quality products. (I have no comment on the matter lol)

Hey guys I believe today is the final day of Gamestops buy 2 Used Wii/DS games 1 free. If you want to pick anything up you better go today. Think I'll go pick up some sub $10 games later

It's not the quality of their games that is disappointing. The first Denpa Men was pretty good and rather challenging, I just have no desire to go through another two or three of them so soon. The Pokémon universe is way more appealing to me than the Denpa one. Still, they have clearly improved over Colosseum and Gale of Darkness DX and I'd like them to try again, using the experienced they gained making Denpa Men.

NOE:

WHERE THE FUCK IS 3DS' TG16 VC?!

Someone give me a proper Twitter account I can pester since Dan Adelman is no more

You'd likely have a better ear if you level that complaint at Konami, since they seem to be running the PC-E VC show. Not that Dan Adelman was ever the correct address for it.

Dan actually shared VC news and support many times before, he wasn't (isn't) just a pr spokesperson or strictly only supervising Indies, he had an interest in many things and actually tried to move a few things around even if he was usually clockblocked by NCL. In the case of the PCE/TG16, having it in NA would definitely mean it'd come over here as well.
Konami actually provides the software support (dunno if they also have a part in the emu itself), much like how GameGear was a thing between Sega and Nintendo (before crushing and burning under awful sales numbers) but that means nothing if NOE doesn't greenlight the platform on its VC.

Hope to hear something is coming in the beginning of 2015, I think that's the likely timeframe if anything's happening at all. But really, TG16 VC would rekindle my interest in the console tenfold, the very same titles that are on Wii's VC would be more the fine with me!

Dan could try to help pass the requests, but he specifically said he's not actually responsible for them, and those decisions came from Japan. I don't know who made the PCE and MSX emulators, but I think it was either Konami (who I think are the only ones who released games for them, so far) or M2, but I'm likely confusing that M2 thing with them making the GBA VC.

That being said, I hope the PCE and MSX games come out of Japan, and soon.

It's my understanding that 3rd party platforms on VC are handled entirely by the 3rd parties themselves, from emulation to ratings to pricing to licensing other publisher's games. Nintendo has nothing to do with them directly except QA, like any other 3rd party game on their systems.

TG16 is pretty much 100% on Konami. And unfortunately they suck.

I don't know who handles what but when Capcom announced the rest of the GB Mega Man games they made it clear that Nintendo is at least partially to blame for VC's low output.

''These are just a handful of titles in Nintendo's busy Virtual Console schedule. There are new titles releasing each week so that means a bit of a bottleneck. We basically announced these games as soon as it was possible to do so, which means anything already in the pipeline is ahead of all six Mega Man Game Boy titles.''

The announcement was in the middle of July 2013, the games were released throughout May 2014 in NA while Europe still doesn't have them. OK, maybe the marketing department wanted the games delayed so they could use ''Mega May'' but to me it seems like whichever department handles VC's Western releases desperately needs more staff.

guys, some impression on unepic, master reboot and how to survive 2?

I have only played and completed Unepic. Best game together with Toki Tori 2+ on the eShop imo.
It's a Metroidvania-RPG slower but more tactical. it has an inmensity of items, missions, challenges, references and parodies. Dialogue is a little cheesy but makes smiles.
20+ hours to complete for 9.99.

That's a "popular" game for phones?

Well that says an awful lot about phone games...

Nothing we didn't already know. But...I did just buy Liberation Maiden on my iPhone for a buck. Also bought Ghost Trick (the full game) a while back, also for a buck on my phone.

Well, certainly there are good games and good value in phone games as well.

But, if a game like IQ Test can be described as "a popular phone game," that's just sad.

Quick question for fellow EU Club Nintendo people: Do you not get 50pt surveys for VC games? I've noticed this before but forgot to ask.

Any eShop recommendations? Preferably stuff I can't get on my PS3/Vita. Only have Toki Tori 2+ and Shovel Knight

Scram Kitty is a big one, and in your price range. You can get Guacamelee and 1001 Spikes on PS3 and Vita but they're great anyway.

Honestly dude just buy Earthbound.

Someone give me a proper Twitter account I can pester since Dan Adelman is no more

Maybe I just don't get this whole Twitter thing, but you do know Dan Adelman does have an email address, right?

Yeah, agreed. By and large, most of the "top grossing" games on the App Store (at any given time) are f2p drek that mostly feels like work when you "play" it. The first year I got my iPhone, I was admittedly a bit addicted to it. After a while, though, the shallowness finally became too much. Now, my 3DS is once again my main gaming system. But I still keep a lookout for good deals on great games. And of course, I always have FFT at the ready on my phone.

Right but those were on Nintendo's platforms, SPD is doing all the emulation and testing for that. That's not really like Konami's PCE and MSX stuff, Nintendo only has to treat those purely like 3rd party titles delivered to them for QA and release.
