Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed with their game choice (getting FarmVille flashbacks for some reason), but I also haven't watched, yet, and I firmly believe in Jeff x Dan, so yeah..

Dan wants to pick a region in WOW

"Oceanic, we are right next to the Ocean," he says

Where is that image I made, dammit!

I have a friend that is similarly out of touch but with pop-culture. Didn't know who/what Iron Man was (after the 3rd movie came out). Sometimes information just misses you. Still hilarious when it comes from Dan.

I wouldn't call not knowing what Oceania is as out of touch with pop culture. It's more of a geographic problem. :p

I've never seen it called Oceanic though. Always Oceania. Wikipedia has "Oceanic" as a demonym, like African, European etc., while the other locations are just United States, Latin America and Brazil.

It confused me at least. Maybe I'm just dumb, and/or confused by English not being my first language.

I just want to install WoW and then spend hours finding the best UI. That was my favorite part, the amazing mods you could grab, and then I'd realize my computer was awful and couldn't run that while being in a main city and have double digit fps.

Ah, I remember the UI for 40 man raids back in the day. I played as a healer, and that shit filled up pretty much the whole screen. Good times.

edit: Pretty much this:

I played a ton of classes in my time with WoW, but I think the best time I've had is with my Druid, who I played both as a Boomkin and Resto (I could never play feral), and once you have fucking flight form... You can never go back to a regular character. My god, flight form was glorious.

Yeah, when I healed I used Grid and the bars took up a small section of my screen. No idea how anyone can play like the guy in the screenshot.

Heh, I pretty much played like that. Not as extreme, but close. You could probably trim it down a lot back in the day too, but I was too lazy to do it.

They must have recorded this WOW video before the Bombcast because they're talking about Bingo again.

I think Dan mentioned on the podcast that he had talked about it on some video or something. This is probably it.

I'm really looking forward to watching the WoW video, especially as someone who was in the same camp as Dan (well, I played 2 hours before being incredibly bored).

After watching this with their commentary, WoW has aged terribly in regards to showing new players what the game is. The low level gameplay in this video is so unrepresentative of what the 'real game' (high level) is. Actually having to think about your abilities in dungeons/raids/PVP is so different from low level questing.

So this is basically a two man Bombcast. imokwiththis.jpg, but at the same, spending a Premium slot on WoW.. :p

At least some of you guys are into it.

I really enjoy that's Dan's mistakes or poor decisions so often seem driven by oddly compelling internal logic that make complete sense if you divorce yourself from fairly common knowledge.

I think Ryan once said of Saints Row 3 that "it's like it takes place inside Dan Ryckert's mind", or something like that.

So are Dan and Danny regulars on GB now? I like Danny's personality and he seems like a cool dude, but after watching this WoW-video it blows my mind how someone so oblivious to gaming and the buisness as a whole can work in it. He's worked at Game Informer, but has no idea that Blizzard are developing a MOBA. It just feels like he doesn't contribute anything but being a way for Jeff to explain his infinite knowledge of the buisness to him.

Dan is an employee of GB, Danny is a regular guest on UPF and the regular European when needed for European QLs.

Dan is part of Giant Bomb, Danny still works for Gamespot and makes occasional appearances.

There's rarely any enthusiast journalism where a single person can know everything. Nor is there any value at all in that to begin with. No one needs to know about MMO's, Blizzard or MOBA games to interview an FPS developer or review a sports game.
