I just seen (my home camera) they try to deliver it. I didn't get any track number.
Lol I have a CCTV at my house too.
Guys, I suggest people not panic here too quickly. Hold off judgment till you have the hardware on hand and can see for yourself.

I'm still wondering if something is off with their software. Because like you said Titans Of Space was fine and same as Radial-G from other user reports. Along with that, during the various times the DK2 was shown people never mentioned there being a noticeable degradation in FOV.
Are people really bitching about the immersion killing of 100 degree FOV?
... more is always better, but this is definetly acceptable presence inducing FOV. It's no worse than a big pair of snow goggles; you're not going to not feel like you're in a place if you wear snow goggles.
Still, I'm sure someone if not Oculus will figure out a more compute effective way of providing increased FOV.
I suspect that foveated rendering techniques will be utterly necessary for cracking that threshold.
I think I agree. Horizontal FOV is a big deal since otherwise it feels like looking through goggles -- but I guess it's going to be goggles for a long time anyway, unless they figured out some crazy lenses and/or curved screens. Not sure I like that tradeoff. I feel that kills immersion more than resolution. It's the difference between being there versus just looking through a screen.
This true, I'm waiting for more demos to be updated to DK2 to make a good call on this. The tuscany demo for some reason really suffers from shallow fov. The bars are constantly in your view. Even if you don't look at the edges. Actually someone in the OR forums had a perfect analogy.

Well that's what made DK1 so different from previous vr attempts, it didn't feel like you were looking through snow goggles.
Yeah, but it only says that the shipping label has been created, no delivery estimate yet.Damn....my roomate who ordered an hour after me just got his shipped mail....
My order is still on processing.
I hope they still get here at the same time...
Doc, after knowing this, can you go back to the Titans of Space demo and see if you still have the same impressions as you did before? A few pages back you stated it seemed like it had a wider FOV than other demos you tried out.
I think we can all agree that the Tuscany demo is a shitty demo try for any of this stuff.
Well, that's strange.People reporting orders between 09:30 AM and 10:00 AM are stuck since Thursday.

Well that's because its actually real-life, obviously. You could have a bandana completely covering your eyes in real life and it will still feel like real-life because it *is* real-life.Are people really bitching about the immersion killing of 100 degree FOV?

The point here is to simulate reality, which is a much more difficult and complex challenge, and unless the game calls for wearing ski-goggles, having a ski-goggle-like FoV certainly hurts immersion.
Is Titans of Space has been update for DK2?
No it hasn't. There is no head tracking, you're basically using the dk2 as a screen. I remember not noticing the FOV as much, even when it front of bright objects like jupiter. It was concerned that was as an illusion because the black bars blend in with the black space background.
The two included demos have a very narrow FOV even with my eye lashes brushing up against the lenses.
I'm a little behind with the news, so is it the second batch that's shipping now or still rolling out the first?

Hmm. I know you said something like getting a planet to be on the edge of the screen and it seeming wider. If we really think about it though 10 degrees isn't that much.
Lol? For real?Kinda depends on what country you're in.
Here in the US, the first batch went out last Thursday, then a 2nd batch on Friday. Now we await news of a 3rd batch shipping today yet hopefully.
My status only updated to shipped about 30 minutes before I received DK2.
From Reddit:
Kind of a bummer. I had a DK1 for a year and I loved it but I decided to sell it while I could still get some money for it. I kind of regretted not ordering a DK2 but I'm starting to think that waiting for the consumer version wasn't such a bad idea.

Geez. These eBay people are making mad profit. I wish I didn't want to keep mine whenever it shows up.
When was your card charged? That's what I'm looking for.
Me too...I'm just a student. Could use that money :/omg, I'm seriously contemplating unloading mine -_-

Haha exactly my thought. I knew back then that the price will be much higher, but I didn't expect it to be over 1k :OHoly fuck... I should have pre-ordered 2 so I could sell one. Would help with my loans. lol
Those prices are fucking nuts.. 1k+... Jesus..

I mean that screenshot isn't the most accurate as its not showing the actual seen area for most people. It would be more helpful if someone included some red circles that display what the A cups (or whatever they're using this time) are actually showing the user in each example as nobody sees all that's displayed in the warping screenshots.
omg 1k for a freakin DEVKIT...

I mean would it be that bad to sell it after I get it? I mean it's not like I'm selling water in a desert?
Who are these people that will spend $1000+ for a $350 headset? They're really willing to spend an extra $700(twice what the DK2 costs) just so they dont have to wait an extra month or so? If they cared that badly, why didnt they order early on?
Actually, are people actually buying these for $1000+ or is that just what people are asking?

Mine finally shipped today. Surprisingly from the UK which I didn't know they were sending units from. Should have it by the end of the week now![]()
Definitely agree. Less FoV and we're talking about incredibly good 3D rather than VR.That's true but from my time with the DK1, I really don't think any kind of FOV loss would be very acceptable. The DK1 had enough FOV to be immersive but even with my eyelashes touching the A cups, I could always see some black bars on the periphery of my vision. I have not tried a DK2 yet but I really feel like anything less than that could get definitely hurt immersion.

The higher frame rate and positional tracking more than make up for current FoV in the DK2. That does not mean that I would take the same FOV in the CV however, just for the current DK, it is very acceptable.
