Not even half way done.

God help me.

Honestly the only one I can see myself getting is Samus (the rest don't look very good up close)

They better not freakn' mess up the Lucina, Ness and
Lucas
amiibos...

Since I'll be playing as Samus I want my Amiibo to be a different character. I'm thinking Lucina, math, Link, Mario, Bowser. One of those. Maybe a Little Mac.

It always makes me feel bad/agitated/somewhat sad when a good number of people say "no more swordsmen" when doing new character inclusions between Smash versions and I think I finally know why.

I naturally love using sword characters in fighting games. Zoning with long reach normals or cutting through with dramatic arcs never gets tiring for me. Even more so when people get really creative and do things like independently/remotely controlled swords (Donovan in the Darkstalkers series, Valentine in Guilty Gear Xrd) or other such variants. There are only a few non blade using characters through my years of playing games that I enjoy using and being a part of a fandom for a game series that knee jerk reacts negatively towards sword and blade characters is frustrating at times. :lol
I had to deal with people telling me that Lil Mac will be boring because he can only punch. It sucks. =/

I feel you. I'm not exactly knowledgable about sword fighting compared to fist to fist combat, but I know there's so many different styles to it. Though I don't think Smash is the game to translate the complexity of such a thing into the game. It's not like Marth and Mac are faithful to what they're based on, because they didn't need to. Ike as well to...whatever the hell that is. Still, I feel like Takamaru could easily be different aesthetically and functionally from other sword users if you put some thought into it. I really doubt his exclusion was due to being another swordsman, because that honestly comes across as narrow minded to me.

I think it's worth noting, for those who are wishing for a different, distinct Paper Mario stage for the Wii U version based on TTYD--between the two versions, there is only one game that has two different stages based on it* (not counting the shared stages, obviously)--Pokemon X & Y, which is a much more popular and recent game than TTYD. In Brawl, Sakurai seemed to move away from having more than one stage based on a single title, and he seems to be following for the most part again, even between the two versions

*Concerning Palutena's Temple and Reset Bomb Forest. Palutena's Temple is actually intended to be a generic Kid Icarus stage like Coliseum is for Fire Emblem, as the stage is only known as "Palutena's Temple" in America. In Japan, it's just called "Angel Land," which is the generic name for the world Kid Icarus takes place in.

I guarantee someone will decide to swap heads and make Zero Suit Peach, Zelda, ect. Amiibo figures.

I doubt there will be an AC for Wii U. New Leaf is only a year old, and given the way the Wii U is performing, I bet they'll just wait for the next console.

That's some poor logic if you're developing games for your own platform. Your own hardware is floundering so you pump money and popular franchises into it to make it a more attractive platform. You wouldn't just sit on a franchise with some guaranteed sales if you're not doing as well as the competition.

ACNL is actually almost two years old anyway, since it had a lengthy localization process to add in some western holidays and events for the worldwide release. Although I'd prefer they look at expanding NL with a hefty update which included amiibo support, it would make sense for them to be in the middle of development for the next entry too.

I don't actually think we're getting any of those but G&W, but I found it neat how nobody's really brought it up, given the Lucina confirmation.

Plus, none of those options are too far-fetched. I could totally see NES Mario as a left-field unlockable surprise, and Tom Nook and Toad certainly deserve a spot - if not in this iteration then potentially the next. (Not so much Isabelle, though)

Eventually you could make zero suit Lucina with figmas, lol

Paletuna + Zero Suit = Justin Bailey.
Granted the easier way would be just to paint her hair green. Where is that alt Sakuraiiiiiiii?

Absolutely. It can do more than just grow, as there are several Monado skills from Xenoblade.

So you're suggesting a sword/magic user then? With light moppy hair? HMM.

Not really feelin it. But I'll allow it if it gets me a Gaur Plains Wii U stage.

Without a doubt I'll be getting Ness and (hopefully) Lucas Amiibos. And Wario and Villager, and Yoshi and Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong and Fox and Robin and Sonic and Mega Man and Pac Man and...

Well we know the AC team is finishing up Splatoon right now, so we shouldn't expect any news for a while. Honestly, I'd much rather they just make a companion game to New Leaf, where you play in the same town, but you can pick up and continue your game from either the Wii U in HD or the 3DS.

Anyone else think it's slightly strange to have a stage that features areas from both Sticker Star and The Thousand Year Door? I mean, they are both Paper Mario titles, and their art is fairly similar, but the two games are so very different. Sticker Star is practically defined by how far removed it is from the rest of the series.

Maybe it's just me.

Also, other note.

While two of these stages alter in some way (by either transformation or scrolling), the homogenous visuals of three of the 3DS Mario stages is pretty boring.

Blah. Golden Plains (the middle one) is probably the most visually bland Smash stage in some time. I think, if they wanted a New Super Mario Bros. 2 stage, they should have based its visuals on the cannon stages, the only interesting new visuals that the game had.

Oh well. That's what they get for trying to have every Mario game copy the same NSMB art style I guess.

That's definitely a shame, but I'd like to think at least the scrolling SM3DL stage/Paper Mario stage transformations kinda make up for it. At the very least, I'm looking forward to seeing what else the latter turns into.

Private message me if you did added me and I haven't add anyone.

If the quality is like that at retail stores, then I'm not sure if I would waste my money on those quality.

What's this about?

Yup, it's a sword.

I mean what's so fancy here, really. That it can glow and grow a beam-sword extension? Is that really enough to differentiate an entire different fighting style?

Someone hasn't played the game

Right, I'm not expecting them to be in the middle of active development. Just pre-production, if anything. Any entry on the Wii U would probably be kind of like City Folk, where they take the basic game from the portable version and slap some new stuff onto it. Which I'd probably be okay with, especially if it meant more connectivity than just giving you a head-start on cataloging.

Given Iwata's comments on how they "learned a lot" from the negative reception of that game, I'd like to think that won't be the case, but if so....blech.

So it's tuesday, which means another project m alt costume is revealed, this time, it's shinobi squirtle.

Er, what exactly is this based off of?

Still looks cool, I guess.

Anyone have a count on transforming vs static stages? I get the feeling the former's a lot larger than the latter...

If by "transforming" you mean stages that somehow move or change platform configuration, then yes, there are more moving ones than totally static ones. But among that group are many different kinds of stages: there are true transformation stages like Paper Mario, there are sidescrollers like Golden Plains, and there are ride-along stages like Prism Tower.

I also wouldn't be surprised if AC is purely a handheld series from here on out, since NL got an amazing reception and CF sorta bombed.

I just really meant to say that the Wii U's current market standing isn't going to be the reason we don't get entries from _____ series.

Shinobi (Similar design from what I remember and he has a shuriken and the scroll thing on his back).

Also he's a literal Ninja turtle, so I guess that's why it was originally conceived as an idea.

CF bombed... in terms of reception. It was still amongst the Wii's best sellers. They aren't going to ignore that on Wii U, trust me.
