Anyone is planning to get the intel i7-5960X with a whole new mb+ram?
yep, they just need to announce it
Anyone is planning to get the intel i7-5960X with a whole new mb+ram?
Now you need an mPCIe SSD, bro.

Yes, either are good. You have to keep in mind testing procedures for measuring noise. They're both really quiet.Quick question, should I get either 280x Direct CU II or Windforce rev2 as a cooling solution?
They both seem to be fairly equal and loud (31db @ idle?) but having been accustomed to my dust filled 560Ti atm, I can deal with it.
Do you mean drivers? Or BIOS update? So I'm downloading firmware updates for my Asus Z97 A mobo for the first time, do I have to unzip the files?

For the former, yes.

BIOS updates are done by putting the file on a flash drive that is formatted for FAT 32. Boot into BIOS, and use the EZ Flash utility. Both I think, I just went to the site and downloaded all the updated files that they had
Yeah, the 5930K and 5820K are looking better for games from the rumors.I considered it but the low clock speed convinces me that single thread performance will suffer and will ultimately perform worse in a lot of cases.
Ever dreamed of owning something that money cant buy? Now you have the chance to win an exclusive SAPPHIRE TOXIC Edition R9 290X graphics card.
Sporting the fastest clocks in the industry, with an 1100MHz engine clock and a giant 8GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1450MHz, this is the fastest single GPU card we have ever built but there are only three of them in the world.
These cards feature our stunning Vapor-X cooling technology, Tri-X fans with intelligent fan control to keep noise levels to a minimum and our revolutionary PCB head spreader, making them not just the fastest, but also the coolest cards ever! Not the X, no, but a 5820K. And 32 GB RAM.Anyone is planning to get the intel i7-5960X with a whole new mb+ram?
I was wondering about this, thanks for the feedback. I have almost the same set up shipping to me in the next few days. Guess I will let the case fans run at full blast for now and link the PWM to the CPU fan.Issue I'm currently having (and need some assistance with):
My fans are too loud at idle. How are you supposed to wire your fans with the fan hub that comes with the Enthoo Pro? Right now, I have two things that use the 4th PWM pin: The fan hub, and the CPU fan. The mobo only has a single PWM header: CPU_FAN. And the fan hub only has 3 pin outputs. I just connected the CPU fan to the hub, with the 4th pin not connected to anything. Is that correct? I've set the CPU_FAN header to the "Silent" setting in the BIOS. At idle, and at around 30C temps, my CPU fan is spinning at ~1450 RPM according to HWInfo. Its minimum is ~600. This seems too high. Might I have to get a proper fan hub with PWM outputs?
Edit: Did some more research, unsurprisingly the issue is indeed that I need to connect my 4 pin PWM fan to a 4 pin header, or else you can't control its speed. I assumed that it would simply fall back to the same speed control method that the 3 pin fans use, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Buying a PWM splitter to solve this, hope that's enough.
Texas, I'm golden.Hope you aren't in Florida, New York or Rhode Island. You are not eligible! lol
Had a little project this weekend, drilled/cut out the 3.5" bay in the Corsair 350D and added a MPCIE wifi card. I had to strip everything out and take my build down to just the bare case. I really enjoy this case, it's a pleasure to work in because you can cram it with a ton of components and still have a lots of room. I need to take a well lighted picture because it looks so clean!

How do you go about choosing a case?
I'm looking for a mid-tower, was originally going for the "Nzxt Gamma Classic Series Atx Mid Tower Interior Steel Chassis" but it's back order. I'd like to better understand how to chose one. I'll be doing mostly rendering, no gaming.
Thanks
Entered, here's to hoping I can win. Will save this broke college kid some money on his build lol.
It's really a personal choice. You have to choose what you like, that will fit what you want. I just got my Fractal Define R4 in, and it has room to fit anything I'd want/need, plus it has the added bonus of sound dampening foam on the sides, top and front. But for some people, that isn't important, so they'd get something that's either cheaper or has the extra money put into something else. It's really, totally your call.
ugh why aren't any of Phanteks' mATX cases out yet
Oh man. I just saw that Evolv for the first time and now I need it. Why did you do this to me? haha
Hi,
I just recently put together a new rig for the first time and amazingly everything seems to be working!!! (I'm a little paranoid about how well it's going actually)
So, I need a Windows 8 key. I have the USB ready to go, just shopping around for a key. I remember reading here once someone recommending Reddit resellers? How trustworthy are those keys? Any feedback from someone who has bought from Reddit would be very appreciated. Thanks!
I don't know if this guy still sells them but some in here have used him. I can't personally recommend him as I've never used him but a lot in this thread say he's legit and so are the keys.

Maybe someone else can chime in.

Getting a PWM splitter (specifically, this one) definitely fixed my CPU fan spinning too fast.Issue I'm currently having (and need some assistance with):

The X's have never been a good buy. Being worth it this time around would be a huge break in history.
Ok just wanted to make sure I didn't end up with any weird surprise.
I need to make sure it's compatible with my Noctua NH-U14S 140mm cooling unit.
edit: I'll be going for the Corsair Carbide Series 300R
Doesn't look too bad at all. If you could fill out the questionnaire in the OP (under the Builds section) and post it here, we could get a better idea of what you're wanting to do and suggest any changes that may work better?I have been asking a friend to help me put together my first build, and we (or to be more precise, he, mostly) came up with the following:
Case: Corsair 500R
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Pro 3
RAM: Kingston PC3-12800 CL9 8GB (2x4GB)
Graphic Card: MSI Radeon R9 280
SSD: Crucial MX100 256MB
PSU: Coolmaster RS550-ACAAB-J1
HDD: Western Digital WD20EZRX 2TB
Does this look like something you could work with? I'd appreciate any input!
That card looks like a beast. I hope I win, and will have a beast of a PC.Sapphire's giving away 3 8GB 290X Toxics to lucky Sapphire Select Members. You have to register for the giveaway at their website.

Looking for the best monitor in the £100 to £150 range.
Suggestions?
I have the Dell P2314H and absolutely love it. Got mine for £142, but I reckon if you look around you could get it even cheaper.
Pretty much any 23" monitor from a decent brand will do, you just need to make the decision between IPS (better IQ) or TN (faster response). Personally I'd go IPS every time since I can't tell the difference in response time, but you might be different.
I currently have:
