I think he's a great addition the crew, I didn't think anyone could be this interesting. I wonder what well find out next.
 
I finished the Velvet Sundown quick look tonight. Game looks absolutely ridiculous. It's tough trying to catch up on this thread because I'm still a week behind in terms of the bombcast and haven't seen a lot of the recent quick looks and videos, but I was dying at the egg white story Dan told.

Also shocked at the GS layoffs. Justin and MacD, just wow.

Just got back into working out again myself. Soon over the initial phase where it's all a big fucking chore and I hurt all over, so soon It'll actually be fun working out again!

I'm 'only' half way through the Mario Party Party, and it is amazing. The mixture of glee (Dan) and despair (everyone else) is a joy. I really hope they do the whole series, so we can chart Jeff's decent into madness.

I never watched the Fortune Street video, but now it's on my list.

Dan is a character. Sometimes I wonder if he's literally a character. Does he have a team of writers? He's a great addition to the GB crew.

Like I said before, he's the Karl Pilkington of the video game world.
 
Man all these editorial layoffs...

I guess it's true, nobody wants to read about video games anymore, it's video or bust.

- New hires: Dan Ryckert (editorial), Jason Ostreicher (video/production). Both ex-Game Informer.
- Vinny and Alex finally got Giant Bomb East rolling, with frequent QLs, premium streams and so on.
- Brad now hosts the Bombcast, and turned the email segment into a fucking nightmare
- Quick Looks worth watching: Don Bradman Cricket, Velvet Sundown, TMNT Training Lair, Ghostship Aftermath, Tour de France, One Piece UWR, Long Night, Bot Colony
- Premium content worth watching: most UPFs but particularly last Friday's, Mario Party Party, Vinny's Bot Colony and Velvet Sundown streams, Live from NY! It's Friday!
- Other videos worth watching: Encyclopedia Bombastica: Mega Man 2, Freedom Stream 2014, How to Build a Beast, Patrick's 1001 Spikes streams

Brad has become the host of the Bombcast now (has two Bombcasts as permanent host under his belt). The consensus seems to be that it's a good thing, and I agree. Brad is a lot more active as a host than as a regular member, and it frees up Jeff to be more like Jeff when he doesn't have to worry about trying to keep things on track.

Other big "events" are the two hires, Dan Ryckert (senior editor) and Jason Oestreicher (associate producer) for the SF office. Most people seem to be happy with that.

The last few weeks have been fantastic in terms of the quantity and quality of content, so they're in a good place right now.

Short rundown:

Vinny and Alex are doing great work in NY, the must see videoes are probably Vinny's Solo Bot colony video (premium) and the Velvet Sundown Quicklook. Most of their stuff have been great though, especially Tour de France quicklook, Mega-man 2 Bombastica and the last friday preshow they did.

The new hires Dan and Jason are really shaking things up over at the main site and have produced some great content as well. The Mario Party stream is absolutely amazing, but the last couple of unprofessional fridays have been very good as well.

Brad took over as host of the bombcast and has been doing a great job. His first bombcast as host was one of the best we have had in ages. Also Dan is the definition of a charactar and that's all I'm gonna say about that. He has to be seen/heard to be believed.

And this happened over at GB Chicago, which probably put Patrick in a tough position, but he was even in this thread telling people to calm down (paraphrasing), so he's probably going to be fine. We don't really know if he'll continue working out of the CAH offices though.

That should be most of it. In general I think the site is in one of the best positions it's ever been. The last few weeks have been a steady stream of great content.

Biggest improvement would be moving Patrick to New Yoik. Dat Patrick/Vinny QL combo.
 
Dan/Jeff together are pretty intolerable sometimes if you aren't a typical man-child American who still likes wrestling.

They work well in the group when Drew and Brad are there too, though.
 
Why is Dan so uneducated.

I have lived a sheltered life myself but I have tried and done a hell of a lot more things than him, and in the Pure Pool quicklook he doesn't know if we have Pool in Europe???

I've been doing that for a while, it's pretty much perfect for me. TV shows or movies are bad because you can't really miss conversations and just music is too boring.

Also, you are going faster than me already, but I think my machine is terrible at tracking.
 
Dan's frugal nature is a nice change from the rampant consumerism. I think he should do a premium feature with Rorie called Thrifty Tips. They could give each other haircuts - it is so hard to get the back right on your own, discuss Steam Sale offers, compare notes on which local restaurants leave their dumpsters unlocked and leftovers sealed in bags. Drew could guest for a segment called "I am happy with the old gen consoles".
 
Just watched the UPF from last week. Dan's enthusiasm for Mount your Friends was totally infectious. Him laughing hysterically the whole time was so fucking funny.

Have you seen him play Sumotori Dreams? He played it on one of the UPFs and he never stopped laughing through the whole segment.

I actually just re-upped my membership yesterday after letting it lapse for a couple weeks. I watched Velvet Sundown, Bot colony and that UPF so far. Was it on the previous weeks UPF?
