There are plenty of people posting in the spoiler thread who haven't seen it yet.
I guess if they don't care, then whatever.

Obviously I missed the boat on the Thanos confirmation, since I had no idea. I don't think it's surprising, but I genuinely heard nothing about it. But the mods have made their ruling, so that's that.

Hey guys, stop the spoiler whining. There is no spoiler. Don't be dumbasses. The only potential "spoiler" here is revealing how he actually looks. Which you are free to not click on the thread if you don't want to know. Thanos being in the movie? That's not a spoiler, it's something they've been actively promoting and talking about. :P

Clearly, many people did not know as seen in this thread, and I've watched all the trailers. Not everyone religiously follows Marvel news. But, majority rules, and I am perfectly fine with that.

Anyway, he looks great.

Gotcha. I just thought that he was confirmed in another MCU movie, and his appearance in this one wasn't confirmed; I guessed I just switched it up.

Pretty much.

Anyway not sure how I feel about the looks. I sorta prefer the original design.

Whether people know something or not is not how we should define spoilers. :P

Is his appearance supposed to be a dramatic surprise? Clearly not, since they built a story around characters who are clearly related to Thanos and they rolled the actor out at Comicon.

How on earth is this a spoiler? I mean I would be more shocked if it were a Guardians movie without Thanos and Marvel has been super vocal about it.

Looks great though, can't wait to see this tomorrow.

I assumed they rolled him out for Avengers 2.

Clearly the rules involving spoilers should be tailored to me personally.

I think it's spoiler to some people because not everyone knows the source material or even heard of these guys before they saw the first trailer (Who?), and in no trailer do they mention Thanos. Hell, I bet the general audience didn't knows who he was before The Avengers' end credit scene.

Oh well? Oh well.

ITT: Lots of people who missed all the "John Brolin is playing Thanos" headlines this week.

Official PR announcements at Comic-Con are spoilers now.

Did no one stay for the Avengers after credits scene?

Yours,

Franck

I remember him in The Avengers after-credits scene. I missed the after-after credits scene though where he said 'Oh man, I can't fucking wait to be in Guardians of the Galaxy.'

Here I was thinking he would be in Hulk 2018 because of the way he smiled at the camera. Should have known what that musical cue really meant before fading to black. GotG appearance. Of COURSE.

Thanos got a round of applause after his scene at the screening I went to. Everybody was squirming in their seats the whole time he was up there. I really didn't expect so many people to give a shit.

Hell, I bet the general audience didn't knows who he was before The Avengers' end credit scene.

Oh well? Oh well.

At my theater after Avengers, people thought he was Apocalypse. I assumed it was Thanos and was practically sure once he talked about courting death.

Okay let's say someone doesn't know the source material, never heard of these guys before, don't know that Thanos is going to be in it. So what? How is knowing that Thanos is in it a spoiler? How does it -spoil- anything at all? Please explain.

And if someone doesn't know who Thanos is? So what? What would that mean for anyone? Nothing. This sick deprived spoiler culture needs to stop because there is nothing rational or logical about it. It's just people sticking their fingers in their ears going "I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING" and whining about any sort of information at all which they perceive could be of any danger to them "not knowing anything at all".

It's nonsense.

Why is it a spoiler to people who are unfamiliar with the source material? Why would those people care if Thanos - a character they don't know or only have a vague familiarity with - was in a movie or not?

Edit: duckie please

Thanks for the spoiler. Had no idea this character was in the movie.
Sure it's obvious NOW, but I still didn't know.

Come on son, I didn't even know he was in this.

I knew he was in this movie, but yea I think this might be a spoiler for some.

Did you just post a giant spoiler from a huge movie that just released? Because I sure hope not.

Edit: Not a spoiler I guess. My bad.

Da fuck? Spoiling titles already?

Uh, damn spoiler in the title.

hahahahah dat spoiler

I'm not bummed about the spoiler mentioning him, but I'm a bit bummed that now I know what the end credits scene is. Movie ruined, thanks OP.

:p

Thanks for the spoiler to a film I'm gonna watch tomorrow! Sigh, probably my fault for clicking on this thread, but still.

This is the worst spoiler thread here, just because a nerd couldn't help himself godamn

This thread is hilarious. If knowing a character is going to appear is enough to lessen a movie for people, it's probably not a very good movie.

He looks better than he did at the end of Avengers, though a blurry pic probably isn't a great way to judge it.

Guess you missed every article that had Josh Brolin is Thanos in Guardians?

It would be more of a spoiler if he WASN'T in it.

But yeah, I think I would have preferred to see him for the first time in the movie and not a shitty offscreen shot.

Marvel confirmed his appearance. This is your first time hearing that they did? Well, now you know. You haven't been spoiled.

I took that as announcement for Avengers: Age of Ultron or whatever it's called. Meh.

The celebrated actor can first be seen and heard as the Mad Titan in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” in theaters August 1, and will subsequently play Thanos in future Marvel Studios films.

Direct from Marvel four days ago, right after Brolin turned up during the GOTG Comic-Con panel.

Oh for sure!

I agree with you 100% but I guess some folks love sticking fingers in their ears... :P

Guardians of the Galaxy comes out tonight?!? I had no idea, stop spoiling damn it!

Anyway, it looks ok. I think the eyes drag down the whole design though, they should have gone with the "black pits" from the comics.

The armor looks a bit too busy for my liking, but it'll probably look better when it's not a cam bootleg photo. I'm much more interested in hearing how he sounds though. Can't wait for tomorrow. :D

I've noticed a lot of the reveals look better in motion than in still images.

Just imagine a husky voiced guy talking about he dropped his cube again.

Guess you missed every article that had Josh Brolin is Thanos in Guardians?

I guess so. I remember articles about Brolin being Thanos, but thought they were about the next Avengers.

The fact of the matter is that he hasn't been teased in any trailers for GotG and (because duck made a point of it) people know who Thanos is because many looked him up after the ending to The Avengers. So we know who he is, but we don't know when/how he was going to show up.

I think it's kind of ridiculous that people asking for the tiniest bit of consideration are the ones being ridiculed. We KNOW you guys don't give a shit and don't consider it a spoiler. But if something that literally hasn't been advertised about the film can't justify a meek spoiler warning as opposed to plastering the info in the thread title seems insane, then I don't know what is sane.

At the end of the day it's not a huge deal because this isn't a film I'm super-looking forward to. But it's the general lack of consideration that pisses me off. I'm staying out of the latest Interstellar thread because I've seen enough. I know there are probably some spoilery things in the marketing. Hell, the old scripts been out on the web for years. Should that be fair game too for topic titles?

Clearly a lot of people do care though? You might not agree with it yourself, but he's an important character, and not everyone follows those Comic Con panels so closely.

Oh well, I don't really have a horse in this race. I think it's just common decency not to spoil something like that in a thread title. Some people still enjoy going into movies pretty much blind, without scouring the internet for every news article months or years before the movie is actually out. At least give people the choice if they want to know stuff like this or not, the angry response to people saying they wanted to find out for themselves as they were watching the movie is very weird to me.
