The amount of times he drops the cosmic cube is insane...

Lends credence to when whoever it was told him that he subconsciously sabotages himself.
It was Adam Warlock... Infinity Gauntlet #5 One of my favorite scenes in a comic book.

I wonder if we will ever see Adam in a movie, I'm guessing probably not -_-

I think metalslimer made a better point about how one should even talk about news like this. For instance, technically the Wonderwoman constume reveal was a spoiler since a casual observer wouldn't even know she was in the movie. From that lens I can see how calling things like this a "spoiler" is pretty touchy.
It's not touchy. It's not a spoiler. It's just something you didn't know.

Easter egg in Thor 2. ;)

Yeah I just read those scenes again since I recalled that coming up.

Warlock went IN. Gaddamn. Also, if GOTG succeeds, I could totally see Marvel go balls out crazy

I haven't read the comics, but it'd be hilarious if he drops something really important in one of the movies.

I want him to be a goddamn klutz

Fuck you OP. It could have been a nice surprise in just a few hours.

Don't be an ass.

No, this is the fundamental disconnect that's broken this conversation at least twice in the thread, so far as I can tell.

There is no "technical" way that the Wonder Woman costume is a spoiler. The hypothetical "casual observer" we're allowing for is a skewed hypothetical closer to a straw man than anything. There's no solid definition for "casual observer" and you can rewrite how "casual" you want this observer to be as a means to fit whatever argument you're trying to make, usually in an attempt to show people your perspective isn't out of whack regarding the hurt you feel at being "spoiled."

But Wonder Woman's costume reveal is not a spoiler. Gal Gadot was announced as playing the character long ago. To the point where her contract negotations became news in and of themselves afterwards. The choice by the movie studio and the director of the film to release the photograph of who she is and what she looks like to the audience dictates that the information, both textual and visual, is not a key plot component that will negatively affect the storytelling of the film or the enjoyment of the story.

It's not a spoiler. Nothing's being spoiled. Who the character is, Who is playing that character, and what that character looks like isn't a spoiler. That's a poster. That's a trailer. That's the credits. That's pre-release marketing and audience education.

It's disingenuous to take something as basic and straightforward as that, and then use the nebulous "casual observer" to manipulate that into some level of aggressive inconsideration on the part of people who are taking freely disseminated information BY THE STUDIO and wishing to have a conversation about it.

Again - if I choose to maintain a level of "purity" regarding my first viewing that cuts out even the most basic of information, then that's a "me" thing, not a "rest of the world" thing. I have to have perspective enough to realize that I'm going above and beyond. I'm not being "casual" about it, and I need to decide how best to spend my time online in order to maintain that "purity."

Da fuck? Who thinks that?

One example is the GTA V soundtrack announcement, where people were posting spoiler warnings for the licensed music that was in the game.

I'm not naming names because I might be misremembering, but I'm fairly sure I remember someone who's posted in this thread saying they refused to listen to a movie score until they'd seen the movie first too.

You talk too much.

I saying that in the eyes of the people who consider this thread a spoiler, the WW reveal would be along the same lines. Which I disagree with since I'm on the other side of that coin. So it's affecting my view on this.

Spoiler Tags on review scores are always hilarious.

I think GAF banned that practice at one point. I have seen it recently though.

Don't be an ass.

From the way I've seen some react to spoilers I think that was a fairly polite remark. OP fucked up, there was a way to word the title of this thread without mentioning who exactly was in the film.

I only have a passing interest in GOTG and even I feel a bit spoiled, can't imagine how pissed some must be at hearing about this ahead of the film.

You talk too much.

The fuck? I'm trying to be as fucking clear as possible so as to ensure nobody misunderstands what I'm saying, because basic misunderstanding seems to be a major fucking problem in this thread. For example:

Okay. Apologies for misunderstanding where you're coming from. I didn't realize you were essentially trying to work through your own feelings as opposed to addressing other points in the thread. That's my bad.

That sounds dumb as hell.

Man, I like you dude, but you totally earned that gray name there. That wasn't necessary.

How the hell is telling the OP fuck you polite?! He didn't do shit.

And really? What's the way to word the title? Please enlighten us. First look at THANOS? We already saw that. First look at Josh Brolin as THANOS? The movie comes out today, that clearly means he's in it. What do you want? A magical OP where he tricks you into coming in?

Yes because sneak peaks at the next episode (unless they are mad men) always show some kind of spoiler happening. The comparison here would be if someone decided to reveal plot information. It's also possible to discuss those things pretty easily with spoiler tags.

But that's also something the studio willingly wants to reveal to the public, except not on a press release. Slippery slope!

Anyways, I'm very damn excited about this movie now and the existence of tie-in to the entire MCU is awesome!

I have seen folk on here absolutely tear people apart for posting spoilers, real below the belt, can't take it back, I can't believe they would say that sort of stuff.

Here's a few off the top of my head.

"Leaked character picture from GOTG SPOILERS!"

"New shot of GOTG character, SPOILERS!"

"SPOILERS! GOTG character revelaed"

Marvel Comics also wants you to know about major character deaths before the content is even released, so how about we don't trust the judgement of those companies.

If this is a board where saying 'Fuck you, OP' is considered freaking polite by some standards, I don't want to be here anymore.

And I can tell you right now that those thread titles would piss off a whole hell of a lot of people if OP went with those. They could come in expecting one thing and getting an entirely different thing. You cannot go vague.

How?

"Leaked character picture from GOTG SPOILERS!"

"New shot of GOTG character, SPOILERS!"

"SPOILERS! GOTG character revelaed"

This is fucking ridiculous.

All of those would've deterred people from the topic because they would think it is an actual movie spoiler. Thanos has been talked about a lot and is not considered a spoiler just like any other character announced for the film isn't a spoiler.

"First look at a Guardians of the Galaxy villain (enter at your own risk)"

So the people who knew Thanos was in the movie would be too afraid to enter because they might think it was someone else who hadn't been revealed? Like I said, the delusional spoiler people need to get over themselves.
............ how is it ridiculous? The movie has barely come out, not everyone has seen it yet.

Because they would prevent people who actually knew Thanos was in the movie (as they should have at this point) from coming into the thread.

But to actually comment on this thread, I'm pissed my friend wants to wait til Sunday to see this. I already have my imax 3d ticket though.

The alternative thread titles people are suggesting for the OP are loaded as fuck and could be even more damaging to people trying to avoid spoilers. You avoid spoiling one character, but could totally ambush someone with another.

About time Mods called out people on their spoiler bitching. It's been unbearable for a long time now, and needs to end.

On the note of Thanos, he looks great, I'll be seeing GoTG tomorrow. Can't wait.

Because they would prevent people who actually knew Thanos was in the movie (as they should have at this point) from coming into the thread.

But some people didn't, as evidenced in this thread, and who cares if people don't come into a topic if it means others don't get spoiled as a result?

Make a spoiler thread dedicated to the movie in that case like every other film that just gets released has on Gaf to post such pics.

Like I said, I hadn't kept up with the development of the film and this was a spoiler to me, as I'm sure it was to others.

The thread title spoiled the surprise of seeing Thanos show up, how can anyone argue against that simple fact?

And the response to that is.....sorry but who cares?
Make a spoiler thread dedicated to the movie in that case like every other film that just gets released has on Gaf to post such pics.

Filled with actual spoilers? How about no.

This is different than spoiling the MGS5 character we didn't know was in the game.
This was an official announcement made some time ago. They wanted people to know Josh was Thanos before seeing it.

The other one had never been revealed and was only talked about in fan speculation (which speculated the character was only a hallucination) and it was confirm accidentally though a toy reveal.

I can't fucking believe we're going to hit ten pages over this nonsense

Just go watch the goddamn movie for context, it seems we all desperately need some

Never noticed how unfair some people get with people who don't want to be spoiled, I forgot we were in the matrix and must have every bit of info absorbed into our skulls.
There's a difference between ACTUAL spoilers (i.e. a certain big event at the end of S3 of Game of Thrones, or
Hydra
stuff in The Winter Soldier) and things that some over-the-top-hysterical-of-even-the-smallest-info-of-movies people think are spoilers (i.e. some character we know is a big part of this particular franchise being in the movie, and if you don't even know who Thanos is, then there literally is no spoiler).

I'd only understand this kind of hysteria over this particular "spoiler" if Thanos had been killed in the past and this thread now revealed that he's alive, but we've known since Avengers 1 that Thanos is the big end game for Phase 3 and that it's probable that Thanos WOULD be part of some stories before Avengers 3, to familiarize the audience with the character (especially as they are bringing Cosmic Marvel into the mix with Guardians of the Galaxy).
