Im halfway hoping they find a way to put eye tracking in it and get the FOV eye rending in so we can see completely insane performance boosts
Just tried Euro Truck Sim, anyone elese getting the colour bleed on the text on the sat nat??
Seems anything that is towards the bottom or far left or right of your field of view becomes blurry and/or has colour bleed over, is this to be expected?
Are you saying this only happens in Euro Truck or in every demo?Just tried Euro Truck Sim, anyone elese getting the colour bleed on the text on the sat nat??

Im seeing a lot of posts about nausea and just wanted to share a little pro tip that helped me get my "vr legs".
Whenever you are moving around in game, try bobbing your head from side to side. It helped me out a lot while i was getting used to DK1.
Ha, I kind of do this unintentionally. I found something that helped me a lot is 'leading' with my head. Like if I was going to turn left on the controller/KB/M I would start looking left. Also slow, deliberate movements.
It does take a little getting used to. I think Ocean Rift was my favorite for looking around quickly.
Are you saying this only happens in Euro Truck or in every demo?
What you're referring to is chromatic aberration, a natural effect of lenses. The software creates the inverse of this so that it can be cancelled out by the lenses. At the moment it's not quite right, I believe this is being addressed. However, if it is only happening to you near the bottom of your view, you may be experiencing the same as me, where the headset is not sitting square-on to your eyes, which is exaggerating the aberration. I refer you to this post, and the solution, in this post. It may also help with the 'out of focus' you describe at the edge of the lenses.ETS is really the only demo/game i have tried that is kind of text heavy, but is probably the same for any game that has text i guess. Have to say with ETS the screen judder when looking around is down right terrible hopefully this can be fixed???
At least by the sound of it the bleed can be fixed via software?, but what about the out of focus of the image around the out edges of your fov??
I asked a question earlier how it shows everything sideways on my dk2.
I didn't get any response. You guys are only friends I have, I have given you my sweat and blood of eight years in neogaf and many more of lurking before member.
In return you ignore me.
Not like this GAF , not like this

I don't even have a DK2 but I still feel like I've let you down somehow.I asked a question earlier how it shows everything sideways on my dk2.

change your screen rotation
LOL we want to see you suffer...
J/K the Rift's screen is a Samsung Galaxy Note screen, which refreshes differently than normal computer monitors. Because of this, windows detects it as a 9:16 1080x1920 screen instead of 16:9 1920x1080. This mean by default, mirroring your monitor to it will make it sideways on the RIft. In your resolution settings you need to play with the landscape vs portrait options until the desktop is right-side-up on the rift's screen.

Sorry bro.

iFixit recently tore down the DK2, and they showed an image looking through the lens. From the picture, it looks like the "bleed" is coming from the lenses themselves.
Teardown
It's called chromatic aberration or dispersion and all lenses do it.
If I ever get round to getting a rift, first think I'll be doing is designing a better optics solution for it.
a better optics solution is great and would be appreciated, but it's not needed to fix chromatic aberration. That can, and will, be fixed in software.
You can't totally remove it in siftware as you will simply create chromatic aberration from the image that is being corrected. The resolution of the lenses will massively exceed that of a 1080p screen.
Out of interest, are the lenses they are using plastic?
Is there more to the ED beta than shooting chemical waste?

I can't get Elite Dangerous to show up on my Rift
Totally remove? No, but you can correct it to an acceptable degree. Right now, many of the available demos weren't built with chromatic aberration correction which is new to the latest SDK. So what you see is extra bad.
The lenses are glass, IIRC.
EDIT: Elite Dangerous appears to use a custom CA correction, not the one from the SDK, but it doesn't work well at all. I get CA all over the place.
1) open your oculus rift config utility and set up your profile
2) go to view->display, set the rift to display as an extended mode
3) open your display control panel for windows, and rotate the new Oculus Rift display so it is in landmark orientation
4) use ctrl-alt-del to open your task manager
5) close wscript and ovrservices, in windows 8 wscript is under details, not processes
6) open Elite Dangerous, go to options, set 3D to "Oculus rift experimental"
7) in Elite Dangerous options, select secondary monitor as your display, the screen will now jump to your rift
enjoy! Note, wscript and ovrservice need to be closed every time you launch elite. close wscript first, it will restart ovrservice if it detects that it's closed.
QUICK WORD OF WARNING TO EVERYBODY: THE INCLUDED CLOTH GLASS CLEANER APPARENTLY SCRATCHES THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR LENSES. DO NOT USE THEM.
Someone recommended me a glass cleaning kit on amazon that I've ordered. Until it arrives, I refuse to clean my lenses.

I've used the cloth without any issues.
I think I'm gonna play some chill ass music while chillin around Ocean Rift.
Anyone get DCS World working? I load it up in any settings and it has "Auto Detect Oculus Rift" enabled but it never goes into Rift Mode
Same problem. Even trying stereo mode doesn't work on the rift for me. I can see stereo on my monitor but it doesn't translate over
be sure to go real deep. It's super relaxing down there IIRC.
