Oculus Rift DK2 Thread

Odd. That game was easy as pie to get running. Actually thinking of buying for the F15C or the other DLC not sure yet.

Anyway, for that, I just leave the Oculus in secondary extended.

I have Rift auto detect checked and when I click on any of the instant action scenarios it automatically loads on the Rift.

Have you been using Bilago's tool?

I'm having same problem as him. Are you using the tool to kill the service beforehand? I think that's the only thing I haven't tried

I hope Elite is updated to work in direct mode. As far as I can tell, extended makes it impossible for others to see what's happening while direct mode will often mirror the Rift's display on your monitor. It's hard to explain how to play a space sim without seeing the screen!

Pretty much this. Lol I can try to help my friends out who've tried it, but if I don't see what they see I can't help much.

I cannot get Technolust to recognize the rift. I keep getting a 'no sensor detected' message when it starts.

Technolust is the only demo I haven't been able to get running. I get an image on the rift but no headtracking and its framed way too high so half the image is cut off.

Has anyone gotten anything to work using DirectToRift mode, besides the bundled desk and Tuscany demo, without terrible judder? It seems like apps are displaying at 60hz, causing the judder. I've tried Ocean Rift, Proton Pulse, and Spirited Away.

Try creating a shortcut to the direct to Rift versions and right click, click properties. Add -force-d3d11 to the end of the target. It appears to have alleviated some issues on my part.

Honestly for me it's just as fun to cruise around slowly in Radial-G and take in the environment as it is to race full speed. Lot of cool looking shit all around.

OMG, Thank You so much for this!!

I just tried it with the Helix Roller Coaster and it turned it from a stuttery mess into a perfectly smooth experience.

If you're having issues, try it out people! Gonna go test with other demos now.

Yup, awesome! That just worked for me as well. Just swam around in OceanRift - 100x better without the judder - it was making me nauseous.

I wish I didn't have to work now... I want to try. Had a great time with Ocean Rift even with the judder- though I didn't last long.

Oh crap, maybe this will fix my problems with stutter/judder that are messing these things up. Will try!

Couldn't tell if it was smoother. Maybe a little. Still stuttered when moving my head a lot. I think I just have framerate problems with OceanRift, which seems odd since the graphics are so simple. In fact a lot of these demos have really really simple graphics but the framerates are awful. Guess it's just because they lack optimization?

You can also use the Oculus Service Manager by Bilago. It makes this whole process one button click

What option do you need to select in the oculus service manger to achieve this?

Also what's the difference between lenses A & B., I've tried both but can't notice a difference, I'm slightly short sighted and have glasses but for stuff like reading and close up stuff like 8 ft and less I don't need the glasses, so I don't wear them with the rift.

Actually i don't think i have judder issues. What i have is the screen being blurry while moving the head, i mean not a lot but you can feel it.

I don't knowif this is normal and this should still be there with the dk2 or not.

But no judder i think for most games launching in direct mode. Using a gtx770.

If you need glasses for reading then you are long sighted and should be using standard/A cups.

I'm planning on trying out a STEM pack on my head with the DK2 for positional tracking, but I heard that it wouldn't work very well. Why wouldn't it exactly? An email from Sixense mentioned using it as an option, and even has pictures of it.

HMDs with STEM Pack attached to deliver advanced position tracking for calibration-free VR body presence. We will release a CAD file of the mounting fixtures (on the lower right), so that you can incorporate custom mounts to existing devices.

I just want the option of tracking my head without a wonky, narrow view camera system.

I thought the camera-based systems like the DK2 positional tracker are way more accurate than sensor-based systems like STEM, or does STEM utilize some special technology?

All I know is that they use some form of magnetism, but I don't really understand how it works. But if they claim it allows for head tracking, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

No but I will :)

Radial G is insane!
Somehow kokiri and totoro stopped working fo me. They kept crashing a minute after I opened them.
Helix coaster shocked me when I looked to my right.
I didn't realize that someone is sitting next to me until the end of the ride

Please tell me that there is someone in the Inland Empire holding a VR event so I can try the DK2. I got a gaming laptop that I can bring to make it easier. Share the experience! I can't wait another yr+ to try this.

Whenever I enable extended desktop mode, all my windows and the taskbar jump over to the rift screen, where it can be pretty tricky to navigate. Is there some better way to manage launching games that need extended mode?

Can't you choose which screen the taskbar displays on?

Are you sure that the head tracking is working? I noticed a lot of judder in the few demos I tested until I fixed my camera (which wasn't actually turning on).

How did you fix this? I still have a problem getting my camera to stay on. It works in config demo and helix and finally got it working in elite (although with elite the camera led doesnt light up) But I couldnt get it to work with radial-g last night

How can you tell if the camera is on? Blue light? I think mine's on so that's not the problem.

I posted earlier this tip to remove judder from almost every rift game.

Download DXTory. Set the frame rate limiter to 75.

You may need to alt-tab out of a game the first time you run it to set the frame limiter.

im using msi afterburner and limit fps to 75 in the included riva tuner statistics server
tuscany is smooth in extended now, testing others later

IN the many problems encountered, i have to note the pc screen preview is often not there, with just a windowed white screen in place.

I had my first cobaye for the Oculus. A friend tested many demos. I was surpised cause from my impressions, it felt like the whole people screaming and falling came from the fact that they were standing, and being comfortably sitting on a chair with a stable back avoided such spectacle.

But it seems not :p He almost fell from the chair actually, when trying cyber space. I had to stop it.

Extended mode is always a pain for me. Is it normal to see a tiny bit of the window's header bar if you try really hard to look up? And the maximize button is greyed out so I usually have to drag and snap until it centers, is that the usual method?

I just hit ALT+ Enter and it goes to fullscreen without any of that stuff

war thunder with x52 pro is pretty good. It doesn't seem to do fully position tracking, like I can't move head in to line up with the planes machine gun sights
