I just wonder why Brad plays carry. I think he would be much better served in a more support type role. Let Reflexy try out carry a bit.

Game 2, once Luna came online, Brad did fine. But the early games can sometimes be a nightmare. Game 2 went well for them because Crispy played out of his mind, and gave enough time and space for Brad to catch up.

Game 3, Crispy just wasn't able to do that with a hero like Silencer. And that bottom lane went REALLY bad, from the VERY beginning.

Still pulling for them, and I think they definitely looked better than some of the teams yesterday. I think they have a chance to make it through the losers bracket. Brad just needs to keep his focus on that early game. As annoying/terrifying as can be.

support is harder to play well than carry

supports win games

you cant have brad in that

I just think it might play more to his strengths.

Free him from the binds of having to worry about last hits and it will allow him to focus on map awareness and landing skills.

I don't want to sound like I am putting their losses on Brad either. I think a lot of stuff went wrong. Mainly their inability/unwillingness to try and stop pushing lineups during the drafting phase. It only worked game 2 because Crispy got dominant early, which is not something he was going to do playing silencer.

The other team had a clear goal: push towers, get early gold lead, win. Which, just happens to be the winning way to play right now.

By the nature of their drafts they wind up in this 4-protect 1 scenario that simply doesn't work anymore. especially when they draft teams with no stuns.

Again, i preface, much easier to say this than do it.

Yup. Pretty much. Supposed to warm them up or some such nonsense. Makes no sense to me.

Damn, that sounds fucking awful. I drink my fair share of 40's, but sure as hell not for taste. I can't imagine getting it boiling hot in a dishwasher being of anything but a hindrance to the flavor.

That is why Brad suggested it as the punishment for losing. It certainly isn't supposed to make it better

Finally got around to the WoW video and watching Dan play an MMORPG for the first time literally causes me pain. I know I was like that at one point, as was everyone the first time they tried an MMORPG, but watching someone do it just isn't for me.

I suspected it would be like this but this confirms I won't watch any of that, thanks. :lol

Watching people play MMOs "wrong" feels more wrong to me than any other genre of games and I don't want to know why.

I have always wanted to get into WoW but for some reason never really worked to set the time aside for it. I now know it was because I was destined to be able to watch Dan learn how to play it without it irritating me in any way. The universe had big plans for me.

They really need to get Rorie in there.

I never really understood people who find it "cringe–worthy" to watch someone make huge mistakes at games they're new at because they themselves are veterans of that game. If anything I find it more interesting when I know a lot about the game. That's why I never understood people screaming in chat when Vinny or Brad played the Souls games and made huge mistakes which in the end really didn't have any big consequences.

Rorie would be interesting for one episode, which he'll get. But him in there for the whole run would just coach Dan to do this and to do that, which wouldn't be interesting at all. They've structured this so that you move from least to most experienced sidekick in the video series, which I find a lot more interesting than Rorie just playing the game for him.

Watch some of the daily dotas where Brad plays a support, it will show you why they don't play him there. Unless the other support or crispy is telling him what to do the whole time he just ends up doing nothing. Carry makes sense, but they should be giving him ones that are online much earlier. Or maybe have him offlane.

Yeah, everyone makes mistakes the first time, I only find it annoying when they're clearly not interested in learning anything and just repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Dota is about trial by fire, you need to play solo q in order to understand what you're good at. Playing with friends is great, but it coddles you. That's why you'll see most games industry people who play dota arent very good even thousand hours in because they only stack with friends.

The worst is 1000 hours in when you think you're good but you're actually terrible, took me a while to understand that.

Yeah, I'll agree there. And Dan seems interested in learning the game. I can understand some people being annoyed that Brad and Jeff have been his sidekicks so far because they haven't played the game in a long time and aren't able to answer many of his questions. But it more seems like a kneejerk reaction from a lot of people when they watch someone play a game for the first time that they themselves are good at.

Anyways, we'll have Rorie to correct some misinformation next time!

So I just became a subscriber, and I know on the OP there is a 'What to watch when you become premium' section, but more specifically, what are the standout single videos you would recommend to someone new to this?

the OP is good, and obviously the Mario Party Party is worthwhile, but I'd recommend the "Reload our Last Souls" and "Backflips and Bioforge" series of videos. Pretty much anything with Vinny at the wheel is an instant favorite of mine. Note: the Bioforge series actually started on a UPF, you can find all the videos here: http://www.giantbomb.com/bioforge/3030-15431/videos/

Go through the old UPFs, they're pretty excellent for the most part. the TNT archive is a little more hit and miss but there's a lot of good in there too.

Oh, and the Vinnyvania videos. And Brad playing Volgarr. Both of those might as well be podcasts as they're pretty much Brad and Vinny playing the same sections of games over and over, but they're oddly entertaining.

Is there any archive of Brad's Rekreational matches? Can't see them anywhere on the site.

I REALLLLY need to stop watching WoW videos........fuck...... I don't want to re-install it.... FUUUUCCKKKKKKK
Got that feeling too, glad I sold my account when I quit so I wouldn't be tempted to go back, was way too deep into that game. Been playing Wildstar and going back to WoW would be hard. My brother, who also plays Wildstar, tried it and said it was strange going back to WoW. No double jump, no sprint, more abilities, plus the combat is much improved, WoW is still a 10 year old game in many ways. If they ever made a WoW 2 though....

My personal favorite video series on the site is the phantasmagoria 2 parter. Glorious Vinny and Dave secret endurance run of a batshit insane game.
