Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC listed on Amazon UK

Really seems unlikely though - would surely hurt XB1 sales wouldn't it?

Of course it would. I can hear MS talking to the investors that love the Xbox brand so much: "Yeah, we're gonna put Halo on PC so it brings in some extra money... even if it stops consumers from purchasing an Xbox One. But we're continuing with Xbox anyway, so you can just suck a fat dick."

They'll gladly leave your money on the table and take the money from a console sale, a game sale and a XBL subscription.

Especially since it would probably be a purchase when it's $5 on Steam. :P

If it does come to PC I hope it has cross-platform play a la Shadowrun, splitting the population would be bad imo (plus it means the PC version always has players if it tanks like Halo 2 Vista did)

There's a rumor going around that they are going to start throwing their stock of X1s into the ocean, and their E3 conferences would now feature exclusives that will also release on PC. This is obviously to bolster their strategy of leaving the console business as quickly as possible to focus on software that will be sold at half price on Steam.

Where did you read this? Exciting news, if so. I'm a very good swimmer so that'd be a wonderful opportunity to pick up an Xbox One.

That's simple. Release it one year after the Xbone version.

Sunset Overdrive is pretty much a given. They don't own the IP.

Also "I want this to be exclusive to Xbone"

What the fuck? Do you own stock on Microsoft or something?

I want Halo to be Xbox exclusive too. And Uncharted to be Playstation exclusive. And Mario to be Nintendo exclusive! Whats the problem with it actually?

As I said:
But theres a point for exclusivities. Exclusive games are healthy for consoles, they bring player interst, rises the player base, so more developers are interested on investing into it. I am all in favour of exclusives, doesnt matter the platform!

Now, PC already have tons of games, a Halo Remaster port wont do much to it, as it would for Xbox.

Way to miss the point. He's not going to buy a console, and someone else that would almost certainly already have done so anyway. So ultimately they do lose out on his money.

I think the actual number of people that skip getting an Xbox One just because of some older Halo games that most likely drag behind the console release by several months is negligible.

Probably that while that may be good for companies like Sony, Nintendo and MS, it actually kind of sucks for gamers.

Lordy lordy... that'd certainly be a helluva thing.

If you actually want a game to be restricted to a single platform when it doesn't need to be then you've probably got some messed priorities with regard to this hobby imo.

If you read my entire post you would know why. Is it hard to read?

Fable Anniversary is coming pc, but isnt on xbone. ms do weird things guys.

that should have been an xbone launch title

Is my gut reaction.

As a Xbox business move it would negatively affect the xbone significantly. However as a MS business move this would lead to substantially more sales and may gave them the strong PC presence they have long since had.

If they want to make easy money this would be an excellent and progressive decision.

I think MS is also in an awkward position with PC when it comes to their full multiplayer games. Without GfWL there's no known solution to the dependency on xbox live (which the MP is built upon: matchmaking, etc...). I think this is too awkward for MS to address, hence my gut reaction. The ghost of Games for Windows Live is strong.

why would MS put their biggest exclusive of the year on PC? C'mon now

Because they'd make more money that way, obviously.

The people who buy consoles are going to buy consoles anyway. Not to mention the PC version would most likely release behind the console version.

However I think MS is in an awkward position with PC. Sure they have the OS but not the platform. Everyone of course will want it on Steam but that would be MS putting it on a competitors store. Furthermore what about achievements and xbox live (which the MP will definitely be built upon), etc... I think these are too awkward for MS to address, hence my gut reaction. The ghost of Games for Windows Live is strong.

MS have been putting games out on Steam for a while now.

Even if MCC does come to the PC - will there even be a community there to support it? Titanfall PC is a ghost town - while the XB1 version gives me zero problems to find any match. I remember Halo 1 PC having very sparse server choices even back when it was kinda in its prime.

No one is saying they'll do it this year. IF they do it, they'll release it later on.

Or they may, I don't know, grow a brain and realize this collection isn't going to boost their sales by a significant amount and release it on both to maximize the profits of the collection. I get why people are saying they have to sell consoles, but 3 slightly upscaled games and a remake of 1 game we can already play for free aren't going to entice that many people.

As a huge Halo fan, I can promise I won't be picking up an Xbox One for a long time - sub $300 and probably second-hand. Yes, I know it will probably be a couple of years before the console drops that low - but by that point the collection will be even cheaper to find used. So they can either get no money from me...for a few years - or $50-$60 in the next 6-12 months.

I mean, their call, but I have enough self-control to realize I don't love Halo enough to spend $400+

Did you guys get pissed off when Gears of War came out on the PC a year later? I don't recall that affecting anything concerning the precious xbox brand.

Probably that while that may be good for companies like Sony, Nintendo and MS, it actually kind of sucks for gamers.

Well, sorry if I want consoles to be strong enough to increase their player base, so that way I could see more people to play with and more interest coming from other developers to bring new games to it.

My "desire" for exclusive games on consoles may sound selfish, but the way I believe the market works makes that I see people who wants every single game on the market on their favorite platform, even if it hurts others, to be the real selfish here.

Well personally I think the last several years of everything going multi-platform have already proved your theory wrong.

I clarified my point. Apologies for the confusion. I meant games that we're dependent on XBL.

They can just replace the XBL architecture with steamworks/generic PC architecture. Every other multi-platform developer does that as well.

Nintendo is on the market because of their exclusives. And I believe that Sony would not have sold that much of consoles if it wasnt their exclusivities.

Nowadays pratically every 3rd party is multiplatform, but it doesnt throw away the importance of a exclusive to a system.

Lol so true. Especially with Destiny coming out bungie fans can get Halo and Destiny on the Xbox one so that's a no brainer. Why would MS do this?

A million extra sales of this collection on PC > 5 people that don't get an Xbox One because of this.

Sure, but I'm not a Sony/MS/Nintendo shareholder, so I find good games being available to more people much more important. :)

Me neither but I like their products so I find exclusives games to usually be the savior of those platforms. So thank you Sony, MS and Nintendo for it. Afterall what would be of them if it wasnt the shareholders.

This is very smart on MS part. Get people invested in the master chief, then halo 5 xbox one exclusive.

Would sell more consoles by getting people interested in halo 5.

There's no way halo 5 will be on PC

I'd rather play on a server with 300 in ping than play against PC users.

Wouldn't they just adapt it to Steam's capabilities?

I suppose a totally worst case scenario would be axing the competitive multiplayer - one could argue they're more interested in folks subscribing to XBL Gold, so keeping the multiplayer exclusive is one message (if completely awful and nutty and ridiculous and... worst-case :p ).

Why only make you spend $60 on the game itself for PC when they can get you to burn $460 for an XBO and XBL, with the added benefit of also locking you into their ecosystem?

count me in as one of the many who would buy mcc on pc, but wont buy an xbone + subscription for it. as for no halo 5, i'm only interested in the bungie made games.

Well, at least in my case they can make me spend $60 on a PC version or $0 If they don't make it. I'm not buying another platform for this game.

It was confirmed in the SDCC panel that there are no plans for a PC release so I have no idea why it would get listed on a site. If it was coming out they wouldn't say "there are no plans for a pc release". It would only hurt sales & make them look very bad.

Bad move microsoft

That would be super progressive of MS. They might though... who knows?

I'll play only the original trilogy on PC. Fuck 4, 5 or even 6.

However I'm sure that one day also Halo 5 will come to the master race system. At 4k and 120 fps.

So I guess you never noticed all the times a dev said "We have no plans for * at this time." and then announced * the next day/week/month?
And did Frankie chime in about Halo 3's resolution on 360? I forget.

they didn't say that, actual quote was "if fans want a PC release, they should keep asking for it, but we don't have anything to talk about right now"

I have a friend trying to talk me into buy an X1 for this. How do I make him stop? Do I want to make him stop? Surely it can't be worth $500... right? No amount of energy swords or nostalgia is worth that... Help.
