Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

Let's kill the port begging in here. It's nice that PC Gamers get a chance to play Ryse, but that's not a good excuse to port beg a bunch of other games.

Yep, I'm sure the PC version will sell as much as selling the IP to MS...

I doubt MS wanted the IP anyway. They just wanted them to make the second one.

it didnt sell very well i doubt they had big interest in the ip

the only negative here is the rampant port begging caused by this news

Are there many others? Most third party indie exclusives were already on/coming to PC. First parties are obviously a different story. Otherwise I can only think of Kinect games which obviously won't hit PC.

Scalebound, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break. All third party exclusives. I don't want to port begg but I if these end up on PC aswell I will buy them day one.

Quantum Break will probably be PC as well. Before anyone comments about the TV stuff they are simply cutscenes. Nothing special. No reason for it not to be on PC like any other Remedy game.

Edit: Not a port beg just an observation. Looking forward to see if my rig can actually run Ryse.

Okay, I did not expect that at all.

Already played on the XB1, but I'm probably going to double dib. I want to see how Ryse looks like running maxed out at 2560*1080, it already looked stunning at 1600*900.

It may make a small dent.

How many console buyers out there are willing to build a PC to run Ryse at it's max settings though?

I'd be able to crank it up no problem...not many of my friends would drop over $400 (the cost to play an exclusive on the console) just to play something like Ryse. ;)

I'd say it only hurts the possibility of all the PC gamers that buy every system for exclusives getting an X1.

But who says they need to run it at max settings? As long as they can run it as good looking as the Xbox One version, it would be fine, or at least comparable.

This is what happens when a console manufacturer (MS) relies on external studios to make games for their platform. Had they owned the studio and subsequently the ip, there's no way this would come to PC.

Anyhow Crytek need all the income they can get so porting it to PC for a little more sales now the exclusivity period is over is a no-brainer.

Could this be a sign of Killer Instinct coming to PC maybe?

I don't see how people even begin to think these things.

1. KI is a Rare IP, MS owns Rare, therefore KI is a MS IP.
2. Crytek owns Ryse, and MS has absolutely nothing to do with Ryse being on PC.

If this was an announcement about a MS owned property appearing on PC published by MS; I could see how everyone these last 4 pages have been jumping to these crazy conclusions.

ALL HAIL Phil Spencer

For what? He has nothing to do with this either.

Say whaaaaa!!

Does that mean theres a possibility that Forza....

Ok nevermind :/

From what I gathered, tons of people loved this game with their only concerns being the framerate and 900p resolution, so this should be the see-all-end-all.

A lot of people who played it didn't think it was crap at all.

And just like Killzone, I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy a graphical showcase title to have with their next-gen console, even if its not the best game ever.

Game is awesome. Anybody that is interested should pick the game up. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The benefit of it coming to PC is more people get to experience and learn about the game, and then hopefully it will lead to a sequel happening at some point.

Resolution wasn't a problem throughout the entire game. At no point did it become an issue. And the framerate isn't a problem either. The annoying thing about people taking DF as some authority on this game's performance is it's such misleading bs. The footage some are using or cherrypicking from the start of the game is among the heaviest such instances in the game, and the majority of combat is sword and shield based against enemies where the performance practically never gets to those numbers. The game displays quite strong and solid performance throughout the entire experience, and trust me there's instances where you would expect it to slow to a crawl, but it doesn't. And who gives a damn about a small dip in framerate during slow mo executions? It doesn't impact the gameplay negatively at all and controller response time is excellent during executions where timing is a big factor. So why would anyone care if DF footage shows a dip during such sequences? The game is moving in slo mo, folks!

Now people can stop hating on a damn good game.

I think its going to be the opposite. Now that its not exclusive it wont get the praise from the xbox defenders. The game is seriously garbage. More people experiencing it just means more people disappointed that the gameplay nowhere near matches how good the game looks.

Microsoft said "Nyet" to the sequels?

Pretty surprising to see this on PC but I guess Crytek needs the moolah.

What's up with the photoshop filter in the crowd?

That is what Cryengine Bokeh DOF looks like when transittion to the f-stop shape. Hazy and bloomy... kinda like how a camera works.

Who would have seen this coming?

Me. It was the exact pattern of the last generation. Owning a PS3 and a PC, the only games I didn't get play that I wanted to last gen were Shadow Complex and the Halo series.

All the franchises that were deemed "Sony" from the PS2 era, but were actually made by third party devs went across, to Microsoft as dramatic E3 "wins", third party games made "only for Xbox" went across to, at worst, PC and, more commonly, PS3 as well.

The only way to maintain a distinct catalogue is to get your internal studios to make games or to jealously grip hold of the IP.

Woah!

Super surprised at this. Hopefully this will let us see just what Crytek's final vision for the game's visuals.

I would buy this during a Steam sale and play.
Would be great to see this game 4K Downsampled and with 60fps

Woah! I didn't know you had a killer rig wilflare. You know how demanding Crytek games are right?

Taking aside the visual stuff, the game is not bad nor is great... I look at this more like a DEMO representation of what XBONE can do... OR NOT! PC MASTER RACE REPRESENT!

Ok...this is my second "Wut?" for the thread.

There's no real screen tearing problems with Ryse...I'm playing through the game for the 3rd time and may have seen it happen 3 or 4 times across hours of gameplay...and that's a maybe.

I sometimes wonder where people get their ideas/comments on games from.

From others that have played the game... That's a start.

Do we know what distrobution they're using? Unlike Crysis it's not EA published so Steam maybe?

There was a mentioning on their Cryengine marketing manager's twitter page that a steam release would "make sense."
No, but it was part of the reason why I wanted the console. Now the only think left is Sunset Overdrive and MC collection

If you do not have KI, do yourself a favor and play it. That is the best game on XB1 bar none.

It is most likely a good bit cheaper for MS to go to a third party, offer to fund part of the game, and then say that the game can release on PC a couple months after the Bone. MS gets some games, PC gets some games, devs reach a larger audience. Win, win, win.

Well, this is surprising, didn't expect this game to be ported to the pc. Always nice to see more pc ports, even if this is a game i have very little interest in. Maybe I will pick it up in a steam sale after I have upgraded my pc to use it as a showcase, but other than that....not really interested.

I think that too, but i couldn't wait one year or more to play it on PC, i'm gonna buy it at launch on Xbox One and then replay it on PC about one year later, like i'll do with Ryse and i've already done with Alan Wake last gen

From others that have played the game... That's a start.

There are a lot of people that make things up, or try to blow something up that was from....say a demo build or an online stream well before release ;).

Let's not drop back to the "the entire game is just QTE and you can't die at all" comments now, lol.

I can't wait to take 30 megapixel screenshots of this game. Even if the gameplay is flopping mess. We will have pretties.

I hope you are flexing your CE skillz if there is no free camera available?
I know it's probably time consuming and not easy... I'm not trying to put pressure on you :P

It's no longer exclusive and it's still getting praise, and that will happen on PC, too, because the game, especially combat, is damn good. I think anyone claiming the game is garbage couldn't have seriously played it, or played on one of the easy levels.

Even the dumb QTE fest complaints that you normally hear, you can play through this entire game without using a single QTE, save for the opening moments of the game where they're teaching you about the execution system, and the game's end segment.

Ah, that's pretty funny. I talked to a guy that said he couldn't stand how bad the tearing was. Filthy liars.

This is good news, hopefully it means Halo is coming as well, maybe even sunset overdrive. I'd never need to get an XB1!

What's the point of buying an Xbox One if all the exclusive games end up on PC months later anyway?

Bet that Halo collection will come to PC too

It's not just that, they're losing all of their exclusives.

If I'm over here waiting for a pile of exclusives to build up before I jump on a $500 purchase and little by little that pile of exclusives makes their way to PC, what reason do I have to buy an Xbox One?

Option 1: MS doesn't care XO games go to PC = XO has no exclusives.

Option 2: MS doesn't let XO games go to PC = MS is killing PC gaming.

MS just can't win here can they?
