Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

Is there any word on operating systems?
GAF has got some serious Stockholm Syndrome.

Well that's a great argument. How is a strong exclusive library not a selling point for a console? Plenty of people picked up PS3s for Uncharted and other exclusives (myself included), why shouldn't Microsoft be trying to create the same type of value with the Xbox One?

Crytek was supporting Mac and Linux with Homefront since now Cryengine runs on those platforms and I assume they want sales on those platforms and sell devs on their engine by shipping on as many platforms as possible.

Not sure enough people give a shit about the other two for it to be worth the time.

PC Master Race has no need for this port - we have the infinite Ryse simulator known as Total War II: Rome - j/k

Will be interested to see how this looks on PC. And yes it is weird that another Xbox One game is being ported to PC, but let's not pretend this hasn't happened before.

I found all the crysis games much more engaging than Ryse. Especially Crysis 1 and Warhead, but that goes without saying.
Yeah, I really liked C1 and warhead, but I despised Crysis 2 and 3 (I only played a little bit of 3). The graphics of C2 and C3 weren't enough to keep me engaged. :/

So I am surprised more because I didn't think Crytek would even be around by the end of this year. Sounded like the company was going under.

Cool, I've been wanting to play this especially at a higher resolution with a good framerate. I'm a sucka for action games in that era despite how badly reviewed they are, genuinely happy to hear this. I hope the cutscenes were in realtime too, it would benefit greatly from the resolution and texture bump.

Fair chance that it is gonna be the best looking game for years running on PC, especially with mods, too bad it's a shitty game but no doubt it will look amazing, Can't wait for some crazy PC-GAF screenshots in 4K.

PC/PS4/WiiU combo is/will be seriously the best this gen. With all the so called "exclusives" on Xbox One, many people will see little reason to buy one.

And although there are some games that won't be ported (not gonna happen to Forza/Halo imho) exclusives are not MS strongest part. (as we could see last-gen)

What's next? I can already see Quantum Break on PC in 2 years.

I never bothered buying it for the Xbox One, and I'm still not that interested in the game, but I may buy if I see it go cheap.

What other formerly exclusive games have been announced for the PC? I'm not super interested in Ryse but I just got my first gaming capable PC a month ago and since I was never planning on getting a Xbone, news of ports are always welcome.

Good news. It's the best looking game on PS4 or X1. Going to look pretty insane at 4k. If they properly support SLI, which Crytek usually does, my machine is going to eat this up.

Well this does surprise me. Pity my set up won't be able to run it, otherwise I would pick it up.

As for the best looking game though, I definitely think Assassins Creed Unity looks better. Well, what has been shown anyway is clearly more impressive to me. Bigger scope with just as much detail and great lighting. I think facial modelling is at least as good as well.

Why is MS doing this? Xbox one is just loosing exclusives.

If more and more Xbox One exclusives start coming to PC, won't that sort of diminish the impact of the Xbox One platform? Good move either way, as it will be if Halo Master Chief Collection comes out on PC too.

Maybe, maybe not. I mean, many people are buying these new consoles simply for third party games anyway. I still think there's a selling point for a system having games that aren't on the other systems of its respective generation and nothing more (i.e.: regardless of if the game is available for PC).

I saw a headline on another site saying "Another XB1 launch day game published by MS coming to PC". I was thinking "Please be Forza or KI, please be Forza or KI"

Godammit.

Freakin awesome. Even though most didn't think it was great, I always wanted to play it so bad. I love the genre, I love the time period, I love the violence. Day 1!

Dead Rising 3

I'm genuinely surprised. Wouldn't mind getting some of the other exclusives on PC too, wouldn't have to buy an Xbone so soon after its release.

If Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all declared bankruptcy tomorrow, there would still be more quality video games coming out than any of us could play. (I can understand people feeling protective of nintendo though I guess, nobody else is really making those types of games)

Plus, you know, keeping a game exclusive to a poor-selling platform only ensures that the actual people who make the games have less income to make more games.
The XB1 is not selling poorly by any means. I think the great success of the PS4 makes its adoption rate seem worse than it is.

And no, I don't think Nintendo, Sony and MS going out of business would mean 'plenty' of games still at all. I think it would mean a very meagre amount of games compared to what we have now. Many of the big publishers rely heavily on console game sales, which make up the large majority of their sales. Take that away and there's no case for making more AAA games.

More people can enjoy products if they are on multiple platforms. And giving consumers more options is always good for the consumer.
I'm not this greedy, selfish 'consumer', though. I understand that businesses have to make money and am willing to be understanding. If everything was focused purely on what's 'good for the consumer', businesses couldn't prosper.

It's a good thing I'm building a new PC at the moment. I think I'm going to hold off on buying this for Xb1 and grab it for PC.

This will have very little impact on Xbone sales. The game was hardly a critical darling and there are even better looking games on the horizon. Quantum Break being a notable example.

I wouldn't worry about that. When is that ever the case with large corporations? Point me to any examples were a corporation has been bankrupted by being overly generous to the consumer...

Play on Hard and it's a lot more challenging and engaging. You can die pretty quickly if you mess up with the later enemies.

Will do. I never thought it looked that bad though I expect the QTEs to bog down the flow of combat. Wish they would have found a more elegant way to include the executions but if you have to vary it up enough to reach a high combo counter it'll probably hold my attention.

It's a game built for graphics above all else, so at least now it'll be on a platform that can do it justice in that department.

Still though... another Xbox One exclusive lost... the incentives to buy that console just seem to be chipping away as time goes on, and it isn't like it was a great deal to begin with.

Doesn't matter how high the resolution or framerate get, Ryse will still be a repetitive, corridor slashing chore of a game though. This isn't a title that'll sell because of it's gameplay.

Most games have repetition. even the best ones are guilty of plenty of repetition, but the game is still damn fun to play for long periods of time. The sheer variety of executions and the choice you have on when to activate them adds something cool to combat, especially when the environment comes into play, There's also the different combat rewards that you can activate which are dependent on your execution timing, and they even change up the kinds of executions you have access to. Then there's the burning eagle mode for getting enough consecutive perfect hits.

The combat is also made all the more enjoyable by the fact that it's really a two weapon melee system at its core. it isn't just the sword; it's the shield also. The combat is really, really good at its core, and it would've benefitted from even further development in a potential sequel. Folks that say the gameplay isn't fun or is trash I just disagree with entirely.

Running out of reasons to buy a Bone.

I knew I'd see a couple posts like this, but let's be honest. Some people weren't going to buy an xbox one regardless, and it's only now that one of the system's imo better exclusive titles is headed to PC that you'll now see all kinds of people coming out of the woodwork claiming they would've bought an Xbox One to play Ryse despite either not having done so up to this point, or showcasing no interest in doing so for this particular game before.

I very strongly doubt that they're going to lose many sales due to a crap launch title getting a PC port.

It's not just that, they're losing all of their exclusives.

If I'm over here waiting for a pile of exclusives to build up before I jump on a $500 purchase and little by little that pile of exclusives makes their way to PC, what reason do I have to buy an Xbox One?
