Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

Well that's a great argument. How is a strong exclusive library not a selling point for a console? Plenty of people picked up PS3s for Uncharted and other exclusives (myself included), why shouldn't Microsoft be trying to create the same type of value with the Xbox One?

Sony spent tons of $ investing 1st party studio very early on last gen, and it took them 2-3 years to be fruitful. MS mainly focused on the 3rd party exclusivity since that was 360's edge over PS3 at the time, but now it bites them in the ass.

Buying great IP developed by 3rd party on a less popular console won't end well for MS either, just look at Demon Souls.

If more and more Xbox One exclusives start coming to PC, won't that sort of diminish the impact of the Xbox One platform? Good move either way, as it will be if Halo Master Chief Collection comes out on PC too.

It may make a small dent.

How many console buyers out there are willing to build a PC to run Ryse at it's max settings though?

I'd be able to crank it up no problem...not many of my friends would drop over $400 (the cost to play an exclusive on the console) just to play something like Ryse. ;)

I'd say it only hurts the possibility of all the PC gamers that buy every system for exclusives getting an X1.

I hope they've talked this through with MS to avoid litigations, but honestly they probably don't give a shit about the IP either way.

How amusing it is that the official assets are in a 800x450 resolution. Now that's stupid...
If they are on their crytek.com/assets site there is a trick to get in full resolution :P When i get home, i'll check it

So ready! :)

It's not just that, they're losing all of their exclusives.

If I'm over here waiting for a pile of exclusives to build up before I jump on a $500 purchase and little by little that pile of exclusives makes their way to PC, what reason do I have to buy an Xbox One?

It's almost as if it's silly for people to own multiple expensive boxes which are architecturally 99% the exact same as each other just in order to play a game or two held hostage by suits.

I don't feel this way, I think playing the games on PC will make me more likely to get an XB1 so I can play them first in the future.

I don't feel that way at all. I just don't want MS to think that way so they port Sunset Overdrive, Dragonscale or whatever the Platinum one is called and Phantom Dust. Hopefully they don't click spoiler tags!

I wouldn't worry about that. When is that ever the case with large corporations? Point me to any examples were a corporation has been bankrupted by being overly generous to the consumer...
There aren't many examples because most corporations are smart enough to not do this.

I'm sure there are plenty of examples of businesses failing due to not making enough profits even with a decent customer base, though. Too high of business costs along with competitive pricing(possibly due to the locale) can definitely contribute to having to close up shop.

Considering this was originally supposed to be a Kinect title, its hard to imagine they didn't have some sort of exclusivity contract with Microsoft.

They did, a timed one as it turns out.

Anyway, glad that it's coming over but it'll be a Steam sale game for me, mainly because I'm tight, heh.

Looking forward to 4K screenshots in the PC shot thread though!

Logical since it sold so poorly on X1. Not interested in this game at all though after watching some gameplay. There are like what, a total of 3 different character models on the enemies?

If Xbone only had two exclusives that would be a much bigger problem than if they were all published on PC.

Wonder if this is why Crytek refused to sell the Ryse IP to MS (what horrible irony). Perhaps they made a much saner decision there than I thought. I kinda figured their deal must have included an Xbox One only forever clause.

Could this be a sign of Killer Instinct coming to PC maybe?

No?

MS own Killer Instinct, Crytek own Ryse. Rumours are MS and Crytek were at odds over Ryse 2 and it seems the partnership has ended.

Killer Instinct might come to PC but theres no indication of that happening anywhere, unless someone has seen something i've missed

I wish more devs went for contracts like this when developing games for platform holders. Don't care much for Ryse but screenshots will be insane.

By this crap game?
A lot of people who played it didn't think it was crap at all.

And just like Killzone, I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy a graphical showcase title to have with their next-gen console, even if its not the best game ever.

Yep, I'm sure the PC version will sell as much as selling the IP to MS...

I doubt MS wanted the IP anyway. They just wanted them to make the second one.

Well that came out of no where. I suppose Crytek need as much sales as possible on all of their games at this point in time. Hopefully Halo: MSS to PC, fingers crossed.

Well, this is certainly surprising. But I think Crytek just needs the cash desperately right now.

Maybe I'll give it a try someday, now that I don't need to own a XOne (wasn't worth it AT ALL just for this average game).

You know what I mean. If this and Dead Rising 3 are coming to PC then it's a possibility.

Bigger leap for KI though. MS owned property vs MS paid for exclusive. I would have thought exclusivity clause would be tighter, but it seems they may have just been "Xbox One for X months, no playstation ever".

Well whatever it sells, it'll be a lot better than the nothing they were going to get out of owning the Ryse IP by not selling (no way they're self funding a second). Can't imagine it'll outsell what MS would have paid...not sure why MS wanted to pay in the first place though.

Dat exclusive line up, isn't Halo coming too or was that BS?

To be honest I think it's a great move by Ms. Hardcore pc crowd isn't going to buy an Xbox One for ryse and if they were, they would have.

I'm sure enough people will say why do I buy an Xbox One when I can get all their games on pc? That's exactly it. You get a windows 8 pc

So it will finally not have screen tearing? Awesome!

Ok...this is my second "Wut?" for the thread.

There's no real screen tearing problems with Ryse...I'm playing through the game for the 3rd time and may have seen it happen 3 or 4 times across hours of gameplay...and that's a maybe.

I sometimes wonder where people get their ideas/comments on games from.

Out of nowhere. Who would have seen this coming? First Dead Rising 3 now this. A sign of more third party Xbone games to come to PC?

Crytek scouting for some incomes?

That said, if the Halo MCC on PC is true I'm OK with this, don't care about XBOX consoles even if I spend some many time staring at the X360 (but already got a PS3..).

Alan Wake, Halo, Ryse maybe Gears Of Wars and Forza one day!!

I can't wait to see some of the people who continually shit on this game, downloading it on steam day 1.

I like making abstract claims that no one can possibly disprove as a way to shit on a group of people who probably don't exist. It's so awesome.

Ryse was already a very good looking game. It'd be pretty amazing to see how it'd look graphically on PC. Though gameplay wise it looks ehhh.

Also Halo pls.

Are there many others? Most third party indie exclusives were already on/coming to PC. First parties are obviously a different story. Otherwise I can only think of Kinect games which obviously won't hit PC.
