I wonder if Dan is any good at the MGS games or just likes them for the kooky stories. Best thing about the MGS series is even if you skip past every cutscene or ignore the stories you still have unparalleled stealth gameplay and an endless attention to detail. Not to mention the neat unlockables, the emotion bullets in MGS4 are great.

Has he said whether he liked Ground Zeroes? Story is comparatively grounded and it's much more focused on pure stealth than the other games where there is a lot more tech/disguise systems present.

Might be time to move Bombin to once a week or replace it all together with a PAt/Alex/Vinny show or one offs when they manage to get a guest. Super low energy today.

he says he is awful at stealth games, so im guessing he isn't the best at playing super tactically.

Man. We are in a golden age of GB I feel like. Too much shit to keep up with if you have other entertainment interests. Like wrestling.

i'm at the pizza hut
i'm at the taco bell
i'm at the combination pizza hut and taco bell

the wound still stings

Although some of the stuff Heems has been doing lately I still really dig:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLlYykSUXLk

has Jeff ever mentioned them? I feel like he could probably be into them.
I remember reading a tumblr question where he said he didn't really like them.

But yeah Heems and Kool A.D. have both been doing awesome solo stuff, but none of it matches the magic of the two of them together. Have they ever said what caused the break-up?

So the demo thing made me want to replay MGS1 again. Is there any HD remake of the first game? Other than Twin Snakes of course which is impossible to find.

Nope, they skipped over the first game in the collection. It's on PSN as a PS1 classic though.

Yeah I still have the original PS1 discs. I just wish I didn't had to get my PS3 out of storage... Hmmm I wonder how that version works on....other...platforms. hmmmm

There have been interviews, but i forget specifics. Dapwell on twitter had some interesting things to say:

"Some Das Racist ramblings 1) the name sucked but changing the name of yr group mid-stream is a pain in the ass move.

2) a handful of terrible press photos that made us look like cornballs. also, our "racially ambiguous" (white peepoo talk for non-black) identities made us unappealing to rap fans who fetishize black america and our being "funny" made us unappealing to people who fetishize drugs/violence. so you have a bunch of middle american/british people calling us hipster or soft or w/e or whatever when it was just two brown dudes from queens and a brown dude from the bay.

3) "overeducated" (mostly) white critics flexing their english degrees kept asserting that our songs were some sort of "commentary" on rap which pegged as as outsiders poking fun at something we weren't a part of. ultimately we released ~50 songs, majority of which were pretty straightforward rap songs, some had weirdo choruses. Wack fans coming up like "OH, I DON'T EVEN LIKE RAP, BUT I LIKE YA'LL"

All that shit sucked, but a lot of it was straight. I was a roadie/dancer though, keep that in mind. -FIN- Not complaining, amazing experience, blah blah. People ask why we stopped doing it, so listing some of the (smaller) reasons publicly."

Idk. They always seemed to hate that they had fans like me, honestly. It's like they resented appealing to a nontraditional audience for rap. But really, they opened me up to enjoying much more about rap than I used to.

Heems made it clear several times, and in several of the songs that he resented having so many white fans at shows.

I saw them twice live, once at a small club in Raleigh, the other at Bonnaroo. And honestly, both times they came across as completely not giving a shit. So.... yeah. I think they had created this beast, and didn't like what it had become, despite the increased paychecks. So they just blew it up.

Sorry, thread, i realize this has gotten realllly off topic. Might go make a thread in off topic later.

I was trying to find a video of a quick play where Vinny was playing through a cartoonish point-and-click adventure. Early on he was talking about how his son Max loved it, and then at some point the game had a darkly comedic moment where a kid gets eaten alive by ants and just leaves everyone kind of stunned.

I've been unable to think of the name of the game or find the video.

This Demo Derby is amazing - our collective cup runneth over with content. Dan seems to have been preparing for this job his entire life.

I sent Namco a letter a long time ago and they sent me a demo disc back. I've thought about sending it in before, but I kind of like having it! I can't remember what's on it.

How did Dan not know about the fake MGS names? That was awesome. I'm more disappointed in him for this than him not knowing basic facts about everyday life.

So, I know this has been said a lot recently in one form or another, but I just have to stress what an amazing job the GiantBomb guys have done with hiring the new ones. Jason and especially Dan are just hitting it out of the park. The way the team chemistry just fits, Brad as the new Bombcast host doing a stellar job, all the new video formats ... it's great to be a subscriber again! This is exactly what the site needed after it moved a little bit too close towards being all about being jaded about games and inviting their best friends in the industry every other week (for my taste).

If GBeast steps up their game, this is probably going to be the best GaintBomb has ever been. Just a little sad that Ryan could never be part of it, and I hope Patrick doesn't feel left out too much. :(

You should! I always enjoy talking Das Racist.

It was just this weird amazing thing that came and went so quickly. I think i'll still be bumping "Sit Down, Man" in 20 years. That album is damn near perfect.

Dan Ryckert @DanRyckert

I was reminded of something while playing the Pizza Hut demo disc - Tomb Raider games were total garbage before 2013

Dan, I thought you were cool.

Does anyone know anyone who has copies of Screened.com's (RIP) Twitch (or rather, Justin) archive? You can't access the files from the web any more. People have been asking in this GB thread.

I fear it may be too late...

Hey duder, like a crazy person, I downloaded just about all of the screening rooms that they did on justin.tv, because I was afraid that something like this would happen. I've got cobra, fletch, heat, wet hot American summer, The rock, Star Trek, zombie land, tron, troll 2, poltergeist, aliens, commando, iron man, superman 2, dolemite, reanimator, the thing, die hard, blade 2, the warriors, pee-wees big adventure , inception and groundhog day. I think that is all of them not counting the fake screening rooms after. I'd love to upload them for all to see , but never uploaded a video before, so help in that department would be appreciated. Also, would there be copyright issues since they do show clips from the movie during the show. They are talking over it though, so not sure. Screened.com will live on hopefully!!

Dan saying how he barely spends any time with the Dead or Alive franchise other than quickly reviewing them(and giving a random score) and then saying they don't play well is kind of weird. He seems to have a lot of barely explained hate for some games. Suppose that fits in with the rest of the crew though :P

Looking forward to the Blackbay Asylum quick look, game looks hilariously terrible.

Loved Demo Derby. It was everything I hoped for and more.

And the Tomb Raider games are a lot easier to play if you bother to see what the controls are. Though I've always thought TR3 was ass. But the first 2 games were great.

Dan just tweeted that Tim Turi from Game Informer will be joining them on Unprofessional Fridays.

It's a Replay Reunion!

Wish Dan wouldn't have spoiled everything for Drew in case they do ever make a series of a sort.

You mean because he spoiled Metal Gear stuff? Drew seems above terrible games like the MGS series. The fact that Dan loves the terrible writing really says how terrible Kojima is as a writer.
