Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

I just did for the Master Chief Collection. I got the $500 model with Kinect and Forza, and I'm enjoying Forza way more than I thought I would.

I have a gaming PC and no other next-gen consoles. I am interested in some of the games coming out for the Wii U, but - as petty as it might seem - Nintendo's UI makes me wanna never turn on its devices. I had a 3DS XL for a year and, while the only game I truly enjoyed on it was Super Mario 3D Land, I could never get past the feeling that I was carrying a toy around.

I already have a gaming rig and a PS4 that I don't use as much as I want. Outside of a huge Star Wars or Batman exclusive, nothing

My price point for a console is either $200 by itself or $300 with a really good promo like a bundled game with a gift card. That is if it has enough exclusives to interest me. The XB1 has better exclusives than the PS4, but neither of them have enough for me to get them for a long time.

Banjo-Threeie, even though a different team/studio would be making it I would join the Xbox party for that game.

Sony would have to announce they are not going to make anymore PS4s, which would make developers drop the platform.

Or...

No, this original Xbox guy is all Sony now.

Microsoft lost me at the end of the first xbox generation. I had high hopes for Microsoft's sports franchises (they even bought the High Heat baseball license)...but they pretty much let the titles i loved die...and NFL FEVER was pretty, but the game never rose above shit level.

I expected Microsoft to do something with the MECHWARRIOR franchise on console...but not the third person franchise they released...then forgot about...

Add the complete drop of support for the original Xbox the day after the 360 hit the market...

I've never been a fan of the Halo universe even though I've been a fan of Bungie since the days of Marathon...

Plus...Microsoft flip flopping on everything this gen...

Hell, Microsoft even took a step back this gen with the One analog sticks being more loose than the DS4 sticks.

Literally it would take an act of god. Even Dice's new Star Wars game...if it went console exclusive I'd simply upgrade my PC for it.

I already bought one, but I needed a sale and FH2. I picked mine up for $300 out the door via that target deal about a month ago.

That only makes sense if the amount they are being funded is in excess of the amount they would expect to make from a theoretical PS4 version of whatever game it is. That seems unlikely to me. It also seems unlikely that Capcom were just not gonna make DR3 until MS stepped in.
Didn't know that, I thought Capcom had some deal with MS still about Dead Rising and Xbox of some sort.
EDIt: That deal being whenever Capcom felt like making a DR game it had to be on Xbox first etc.

No, there's a difference between funding (DR3, SO, Ryse) and "money hatting" (TF, PVZ). One is good, one is bad

Ah I see.

When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. Then I would buy one.

Seriously, I see no point in getting a bone. PS4 has better versions of all multiplats and will have a better line up of exclusives as history has proven. Even if you prefer MS exclusives, they are usually not truly exclusive (get them on PC). If you want a secondary console, the Nintendo offering is much better since there is less overlap.

Some compelling exclusives a or a unique gameplay experience using kinect, although the latter may be a pipe dream at this point

I honestly don't think anything could get me to buy one at this point. :lol
Dead Rising 3 and Ryse are headed to PC... I'm not a fan of the Kinect features and I'm not a fan of Halo, so the system has very little to offer me at the moment.
I am interested in Killer Instinct, but not enough to spend $400 on the console, $100+ on a new fight stick, and $20 or more on the game, and then also shell out for XBLA on top of all that.

A multiplayer game that will suck me in for at least 8 months the way Gears did when it first released and made me buy a 360.

With the next Gears a couple years away I'll probably stick with my PS4 til then. I'm really hoping there will be a slim XB1 out by then too.

Have PS4 and Wii U. MCC is what I would want it for. I would need the same deal I got from Nintendo, a 200-250 refurbished deal. Especially when it would be an exclusive only console. Plus the Live subscription is a hang up for me. I am already paying for PSN.

I actually like Konnect so if they had fun games and apps and didn't require Gold subscription or subscriptions of any kind and not feel like my experiences are being hamstrung without them, then I might.

Well, I bought one for Forza Motorsport 5. I didn't really like Forza 5 though. It felt like it had almost no content, a boring soundtrack that I turned off, a boring career mode, and the Drivatar system is stupid. I did put 40 hours into it. I'll be all over Forza Horizon 2 as long as it's soundtrack is as epic as the original was. I do all my multi platform games on PS4 after being a 360 guy last gen...

I can't really see anything other than Halo being a system seller to the general public though. Sunset Overdrive looks awesome, but because it's not an established franchise, I can't see it being a system seller. I'll play the crap out of it though.

True, but even their two biggest games this year are playable elsewhere (All the Halos and FH2 are on 360). The only real exclusives the come to mind are QB (which I see eventually landing on PC), SO (to which MS doesn't own the IP so same), and the CGI trio of which we know nothing. Oh, and Fable legends, but that game is meh (and all the other Fables landed on PC so wouldn't be surprised at this one making the jump). So yea, I can see his point

Am I missing something?

MS owns the Quantum Break IP. It's not coming to PC. Alan Wake only hit PC years later because Remedy owns it and asked MS. Sunset Overdrive isn't hitting PC, either. Insomniac doesn't make PC games, period. You're spreading bs.

Alan Wake 2 exclusive on Xbone would make me buy one. Can't think of anything else that is realistic. MS did a really stunning job of driving me away from them. I feel really sorry for Phil Spencer. Guy is great but it will take him years to clean up this mess.

1: for them to never have shown their true intentions with the drm, always online and anti used shit
2: no online fees

In whatever alternative universe both of these apply it would also need to have better hardware,be cheaper and have games out that I want to play

How about the rest of GAF ? Did their mess of a an unveiling sour you on ever buying an xbox one ? Did you buy a PS4 already and don't feel like spending more money when you lack the time to play even the PS4 ? What are the reasons why you don't have have one yet and what would it take to get you to buy one ?

Mainly this. I do have time to play PS4, but 4 the types of games I play, I really really don't need that ONE. I mean, I play Battlefield 4, I'll buy Bloodborne and might jump into Destiny. I also don't see the need of having two consoles that basically do the same. One has a more powerful architecture and the other has a better (questionable) set of exclusives.

I had no problem buying a 360 as a second console last generation especially for 3rd party games, so far I can't see a reason to get one just yet. Im sure I will get one but it will be the redesign.

So Insomniac can't ever make PC games going by that logic? Isn't the whole reason they want to own their IP for exactly this? So they can have full control. As for QB, I'll believe it when I see it. Also, I'm not saying they will (I've no insider knowledge of any kind). I'm just sayong they could and that I wouldn't be surprised

MS owns the Fable IP and all of them landed on PC. So that doesn't hold much water.

A redesigned, slimmer system without a ridiculous external power brick would help, but I don't think there is anything Microsoft can do to sell me on an Xbox One at this point. When all is said and done, it's going to share 90% of its library with the PS4, and that remaining 10% of dudebro shoot-mans is becoming less and less of a draw for me.

I'll probably buy one after the holidays. There are games I that I want to play, and Sunset Overdrive looks like it is going to be fun.

If a game is moneyhatted or not, I seriously don't care. However, I keep seeing Titanfall come up when it comes to the subject of moneyhatting.

Can someone end the back and forth once and for all for me please?

Was Titanfall really moneyhatted or is it true that Titanfall wouldn't have been made if it weren't for Microsoft's funding?

And is there a distinction here?

Xbox One already have great core games.

So for me to bite, I might need a price drop and more solid Kinect games besides Dance Central.

I also want exclusive core games that aren't Fable, Halo or Forza. They do well now with Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and Killer Instict but I need more.

I have a high end PC so Dead Rising 3 and Ryse coming to that platform makes me hold back off on getting a Xbox One.

Also I'm waiting for that white version.

No Titanfall would have been made without MS. The developers already said that MS moneyhatted it to be console exclusive and if they made a 2nd one they would want it to be on the PS4 as well.

MS stepped in to help and ad a result they landed a year timed exclusivity. We know almost for a fact that Respawn had PS versions in the pipeline. When those rumors got out of hand, MS went to EA, behind Respawn's back, and full out paid to keep it permanently off of PS consoles, hence the moneyhat

At this point it's tough to think of anything that would get me to bite within the next couple of years. Maybe a new Rallisport Challenge.

It's completly redundant when you have PS4 and PC.

They would need multiple high quality exclusives and I mean something interesting like Mechwarrior series or Freelancer or rpgs with quality of Kotor1/Jade Empire not Forza/Halo/Gears/Fable factory.

Probably nothing could get me to buy one.
I'm still disgusted to this day about what they tried to pull.

But i would have likely never bought one anyway cause of paid online and the low spec hardware.

nothing because their exclusives have always been the same uninteresting stuff over and over and over. no variety, and their indie support has been piss poor.
