Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

So either Geoff Keighley, Respawn, MS, or EA are filthy liars? Or could it be possibly true that MS saved Titanfall from cancellation?

All we know is, MS stepped in, "saved" the project and got 1 year timed exclusivity

The thing people have an issue with is them going to EA and essentially paying to keep it off of PS. We know this is true as well.

As to whether the game would have been canmed, I have a very difficult time believing that, but it's what we've been told

I actually sat here for about half an hour doing some serious thought on this because I hadn't taken the time to consider it before.

Five or more first party games that I want to play and a $199 price point might make it desirable, another five or more third party exclusives would seal the deal.
The problem being I didn't really like any of the first party games I played for 360 and mainly used it for third party games, so they might have their work cut out for them there.

I already have a PS4 and most of the people I know will be on that, so multiplatform games wouldn't exactly be something I'd play on it unless they were single player and a good bit cheaper.

TL;DR: $200 and at least 10 exclusives I'd play, PS4 for multiplats.

PS: Indies are a nice bonus, but not counted in the above.

I honestly don't know. At first I said I'll get one once kinect is gone, and now that it is I still don't. The games aren't really getting my attention yet and I'm kind of tired of Halo.

I have to admit the white edition xbox one looks sweet, and yet, I'm still saying "no"

Xbox one needs knights of the old republic! That's why I purchased the original xbox. Imagine that? Kotor a system seller.

If it became the home to new sprite based JRPG, top-down adventure games, and Symphony of the Night clones I'd totally get one. These are the only games that I'm interest in playing anymore.

Nothing at all. They fucked up pre-launch with their stupid policies, the console is weaker than the PS4, and almost none of their games excite me. Trust is hard thing to earn and they screwed everyone over. They could even give one to me free and I wouldn't accept it/I would sell it immediately.

I'm perfectly content with PC + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS + iOS for the rest of the generation.
Who did they actually screw over? An unclear message and wrongheaded marketing(TV TV TV) but they are pretty much doing what Sony are doing albeit at a lower resolution. Hell technically they offer more with all the UI features and multimedia features. They also arguably have the best roster of games relative to the PS4. The exclusives are all subjective of course but it wouldn't be a hard case to make. First impressions are very important no doubt bit since the box launched they have pretty much done the right things. I also think its notable how fast they have made positive changes to the OS.

Backwards compatibility.

I'm amazed i've seen no one be pissed off that everything they've bought on the Store on their 360 cannot be played on the One.

That is atrocious.

Surely some way can be found.

Upping the power (not going to happen) because I have no preference really for either MS or Sony first party or infrastructure so for me the capability of the box is a big plus on PS4's side.

When Quantum Break comes out.

At this point... it's mostly principle based that I have not bought one. So not much.

Maybe if they came out with a slew of new IP's that looked really interesting to me and I felt very assured that they weren't going to pull the rug out from under me and re-introduce draconian bullshit like DRM somewhere down the line. Maybe.

Yeah, this company just scares me too much right now to be honest. I think they're gonna have to try with me next generation, and hopefully their message and plans are more on point.

299€ with Kinect included.

Not going to buy a weaker PS4 for the same price, not to mention the fact that my PS4 is effectively collecting dust with only 3 games played on it so far (AC4, I:SS, TLoU:R).

The exclusives they have (apart from DR3 which is being released on PC soon) aren't interesting to me the slightest bit (they literally have no game I'm interested in).

After giving this far more though than I thought I would have, I think I've come up with what it would take for me to buy an XB1 and oddly enough it involves Kinect and TV. The problem with the XB1 and TV has always been that I never watch live TV so all of those features were useless to me. However it just occurred to me that the XB1 could become the ultimate Plex box which would let me browse and pull up content to watch with voice commands. So here is what I'd like to see.
  • $399 Xbox One with Kinect
  • Included Dance Central
  • Fully functional Plex app with voice commands
Since I already use Plex, having voice commands is the key feature for Plex on the XB1. To help with that I want to be able to train Plex so that if it misunderstands a TV or movie name, I can correct it and have that correction be remembered. In addition I'd like to be able to flag a name as being ambiguous so that when Plex hears it in the future, it will provide me a list of possibilities to select from. I should be able to manually add shows/movies to that list if need be.

Finally Plex needs to work without requiring a gold subscription or cinavia detection.

An additional package that could work would be:
  • $349 Xbox One with external mic array for voice commands
  • Included Sunset Overdrive
  • Fully functional Plex app with voice commands

That ship has sailed. Owning a PS4 I don't see a compelling reason to get Xbox One. If I were a Halo fan maybe, but even then Destiny might scratch that itch for most of those folks.

Another price drop and shorter installation times for its software. I understand that both the PS4 and the Xbox One require installation of games onto the harddrive before one can play them, but I've seen numerous complaints from people stating that the Xbox One's installation times are slow in comparison to that of the PS4.

I buy most of my games as physical copies so I expect immediate access to that game once it is inserted into my gaming console. So far the PS4 has met that standard since the longest that I've ever had to wait for a blu ray to finish installing itself was about 2 minutes.

To each his own, but I appreciate the instant accessibility that Sony provides with the physical copy of their games.

Slim redesign. Below PS4 price point. Exclusive games that are not timed or bought off.
I have no use for 2 consoles that have a nearly identical game library. They need some huge defining features or games that will make up for their shortcomings.

i would wait for the pc release if that's your only g2g (go to game)

doubt that comes to PC, as much as i'd like it to.

honestly, there's nothing that could get me to buy an xbone in the next 5 years. i just don't want one and don't want to support microsofts launch buffoonery. if there's good exclusives, i'll wait until the tail end of the gen and pick one up dirt cheap and binge on all the exclusives.

I just bought one this week, so I can say why I did I guess.

I honestly looked at the upcoming schedule for the rest of this year and realized that Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, and Master Chief Collection were way more interesting to me than Drive Club and LittleBigPlanet 3. The Order isn't until next year at this point, so for me, Xbox One has the better exclusives. I'm not very into indie games (I'm very selective), and I don't tend to like RPGs (except the Bioware action-RPG style and The Witcher). So, I didn't see a reason to only have a PS4 this holiday.

That said, I'll probably still buy Destiny, Dragon Age, Middle-Earth, and Far Cry for my PS4. But in short, Microsoft has more stuff this year that I would be likely to enjoy.

Shenmue3. Not even kidding. Give me that game and I'll buy your console. I don't like the design and the weak hardware, so they need to best exclusives ever to be interesting to me.
This pretty much sums it up for me. If Shenmue 3 was ever announced as an Xbone exclusive I'd have to get one. Maybe even pick one up down the line to play Forza with my xbox friends that don't move to the PS4.

But I've been buying every console for almost 20 years until this generation started. I decided to go PS4 only this gen and I still don't have time to play all the games I want to.

Honestly? Nothing, I decided to only play on my PC, VITA, and 3ds. I have massive backlogs on all 3 so there really isn't anything Microsoft can dot o get me to buy one.

So some extra min install time to get your game will make your decision. I understand that, but you do realize that its one time installation. After that Xbox One will offer you far better and quick access to your games.

For example, walk into a room and say Xbox One - your TV, Receiver, Xbox One everything will be on instantly with one command

Whatever you are doing on the console, with one command you can switch to anywhere. Thats like 1sec if I am playing a game and say Xbox go to Netflix

On top of that, you have instant resume on games. You playing destiny, and you have to go fast. Just say "xbox turn off" "yes" and all your devices will be off, and once you come back, turn it on and get back exactly where you were.

That ship has sailed. Owning a PS4 I don't see a compelling reason to get Xbox One. If I were a Halo fan maybe, but even then Destiny might scratch that itch for most of those folks.

This is just sad and false. May be if you are a bungie fan then this statement holds up. But Destiny and Halo are two completely different games and universe.

At least these three games:

A Banjo-Kazooie game that's as good as Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.
A new Conker game that's as good as the first one.
A new Perfect Dark game as good as the first with great online multiplayer.

Quality games in Rare IP similar to Killer Instinct. Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, and Perfect Dark in particular would all hold a lot of sway over me if the game's ended up being good.

More exclusives like Sunset Overdrive wouldn't hurt either, as well as working on delivering more XBLA content that was on a level similar to early in the 360's lifespan.

They are doing many things right these days (not that they don't have any other choice).

1. Backwards compatibility: the 360 is still miles ahead as a better system, BC would help many doubters make the transition.

2. A great Gears game. Not a barebones shitty experience with locked DLC bullshit. A complete great single player and MP experience that would make people throw $399 + tax at the clerk.

3. Great exclusives. Not timed, no locked DLC for the competition.

4. A controller redesign. 2014 and the controller needs batteries, laughable.

5. A console redesign. Looks like an 80's VCR, is very unappealing.

6. Detachable, non proprietary hard drive.

i would wait for the pc release if that's your only g2g (go to game)

Has platinum stuff ever been ported to PC except MGR? I strongly suggest waiting out Scalebound in general (all we have is a friggin CG trailer) but I thought they were pretty console only.

BANJO FUCKING KAZOOIE

I always forget they have Rare. Easy to see why. Rare returning to form would make me interested but...isn't almost everyone gone? I don't hold any hope out for that. Best case we get third party studios to do a good job of Rare IPs like KI.

For me truthfully, if all my friends owned one then i'd buy one. All my friends own PlayStation consoles, we grew up playing PlayStation consoles and i guess we're just stuck to this brand now. When new consoles come out a select few of us all go towards the PlayStation brand, i remember when the PS3 first came out, me including three other friends all bought one day one. With the PS4 me and two others did the same thing again, and what happens next is our group of friends who have not upgraded are stuck purchasing the PS4 becauses thats where most of us are right now.

No one wants to play on their own and why should they? its more enjoyable to play with a group.

TL;DR - Friends.

Bottom line is they can't. Now that both of the big HD twins charge for online, I'm not willing to own both like I was the past two gens and I already own a PS4. This will be my first gen since the Xbox brand without an Xbox.

Games. Good ones. Ones that won't be available on other systems.

Otherwise, what's the appeal if I already have every other system?

But, if E3 was any indication, MS probably has some good stuff in the pipeline... it's just a matter of when.

If they had the original package including Kinect for $199-249 as a refurb off their website and they had good Nintendo quality refurbs I would probably pick one up at that price.

Eh.

Not much they can do. At this point I just don't want one. Well...no. There is one sure fire way they would get me to buy the console:

Get the Wild ARMs IP rights from Sony. Get that and I'm yours. That goes for anyone:Nintendo,Amazon, Ouya, I don't care.

But my obsession aside, there's nothing that would have me go out and buy another $400+ console to play the 5% of the games not available on my PS4. The line ups don't do it for me as I'm going to have tons of games to play this year: Destiny (for 100+hours), DC, LBP3 (with the lady as its a game that she's shown interest in and I can ease her into my hobby this way), Ass Creed and the other multies. Hell I didn't even play watch dogs but I guarantee I can get it cheaper later this year used and bam, another game that works for me.

Next year has Order and my Soul will be finished.

Truth be told, I'm more interestef in getting a Wii U at some point and there are times I'm at stores and the impulse buy gets to me to the point where I'm thiiiis close to calling over an attendant to open the case and hand me that Wii U..but then I look at the games and go "eh..nah. I can wait for this to hit lower in a couple of years"

I think MS has to accept that there are some people who just don't want their console. Not for console war BS, but just because they alternative is better and in this generation where many games are shared, the few exclusives may not be enough and they're okay with missing out.

Or they'll wait until next gen to get it on the cheap.

Good luck to them.

But really...get that Wild ARMs IP and I'll suck yo power brick.

Yea, sometime I wish I waited for more games. DR3 got boring really quick, haven't even beat the damn game. I bought wolf: new order and that got me excited again. TF is fun with friends for 2-3 matches but that's it. Ryse could have been something amazing, but it was just ok. I'm disappointed so far with the game choices, and the lack of parity with my ps4. I was going to get metro until they came out and said the x1 had a weird resolution, so I'm getting the superior ps4 version instead. I guess sunset overdrive and MS collection will have to hold me over, but they do look awesome to play.

The XB1 being the inferior system of all (personally), before I used to say Halo 5 would push me over the edge. I'm not so sure anymore.

I honestly believe they could push exclusives with simple kinect integration and I'd be fine with that. Gimme something I can't get on PS4 or on PC.
